CAVERNO
Jere Caverno Jr., 86, Wichita, Kan., formerly of Jefferson City, died April 14, 2001, at Sedgwick Plaza, Wichita.
He was born Feb. 3, 1915, in Canalou, a son of Jere Sr. and Ethel Fleming Caverno. He was married March 22, 1940, in Sikeston, to Mildred A. Wilson, who died Feb. 6, 1999.
A graduate of Sikeston High School, Sikeston, he worked for more than 35 years at John Fabick Tractor Company in Sikeston and Jefferson City until his retirement. He was a member of First Christian Church where he was a deacon emeritus. He also was a 32nd Degree Mason.
Survivors include: one son, Phillip C. Caverno, Wichita; two brothers, Phillip F. Caverno, St. Joseph, Mich., and John Caverno, Litchfield Park, Ariz.; and one granddaughter.
One daughter, Gretchen Caverno Ely, and two sons, Jere Caverno and Terry Caverno, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church. The Rev. Lawrence Veatch will officiate. Burial will be Saturday in Sikeston Cemetery, Sikeston.
Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Home.
LUEBBERT
Marcella Marie Luebbert, 89, Westphalia, died April 17, 2001, at Westphalia Retirement Center.
She was born Nov. 17, 1911, in Westphalia, a daughter of Ben and Mary Hoer Schauwecker. She was married Sept. 26, 1930, in Westphalia, to Joseph Stephen Luebbert, who died June 1, 1995.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia, the Ladies Sodality and Westphalia Knights of Columbus Council 1171 Auxiliary. She was a charter member of the Westphalia Historical Society. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include: two sons, Wilbur G. Luebbert, Pilot Mountain, N.C., and Norman B. Luebbert, Jefferson City; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
One grandson preceded her in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia. The Rev. Robert A. Kurwicki will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Westphalia, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Casey Luebbert Scholarship Fund, c/o Department of Education, 315 Dunklin Street, Jefferson City, Mo. 65101; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
MARCUS
Hyman Marcus, 92, Des Peres, died April 17, 2001.
He was born May 22, 1908, in St. Louis, a son of Meyer and Lena Meyer Marcus. He was married to Eunice Fels, who died June 20, 1986. He was married to Florence Rauscher, who survives in St. Louis.
He co-owned Marcus Oil Company, Ballwin.
Survivors include: one daughter, Ruth Laurel West, High Ridge; one son, John W. Ellinger, Jefferson City; two sisters, Sarah Elbein and Dorothy Wolff, both of St. Louis; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Schrader Funeral Home, Ballwin. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10-11:30 a.m. Friday.
MOREAU
Velma L. "Jack" Moreau, 88, Orange, Calif., formerly of Jefferson City, died April 14, 2001, at Fountain Care Center, Orange.
She was born June 6, 1912, in Centertown, a daughter of Dick and Addie Garnett Crutsinger.
She had lived in Eldon and Westminster, Calif.
Survivors include two sisters, Zena Schenck, Bellevue, Wash., and Mabel Rhoads, Centertown, and one grandson.
One son, Robert Lee Moreau, and one stillborn son preceded her in death.
Graveside services were in Pomona, Calf.
Arrangements were under the direction of Westminster Mortuary, Westminster.
ORCHARD
Margaret Ella Orchard, 87, Fulton, died April 16, 2001, at Callaway Community Hospital.
She was born Jan. 11, 1914, in Callaway County, a daughter of Arthur R. and Myrtle Hill Gingrich. She was married March 6, 1937, in Columbia, to Byron F. Orchard, who died Oct. 16, 1978.
She was a nurse aide at Fulton State Hospital until her retirement in 1974. She was a member of Prairie Chapel Methodist Church.
Survivors include one nephew, Gilbert "Junior" Pardue, Fulton.
Entombment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Callaway Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Fulton. Bruce Williamson will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton.
SMITH
Lucille E. "Sis" Smith, 73, Lebanon, died April 16, 2001, in Lebanon.
She was born Aug. 23, 1927, in Ottawa, Ill., a daughter of Mack and Florence A. Sharpnack. She was married March 15, 1946, in Yorkville, Ill., to Charles O. "Smitty" Smith, who died Sept. 18, 1992.
She moved to Lake Ozark in 1952 and co-owned and co-operated Smith's Cafe, Smitty's Bait and Tackle Shop and Smitty's Resort, all in Lake Ozark. She moved to Lebanon in 1993.
Survivors include: one daughter, Gloria J. Graham, Lebanon; two sisters, Fay Kuhn, Hinkley, Ill., and Patricia Clucus, Owaneca, Ill.; two brothers, Henry Sharpnack, Plano, Ill., and Louis Thomas, St. Petersburg, Fla.; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Jasper Hunter will officiate. Burial will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday.

BROCKMAN
Ila Brockman, 92, Tuscumbia, died April 18, 2001, in Tuscumbia.
She was born July 29, 1908, in Passover, a daughter of John C. and Mary Emeline DeGraffenreid Calkin. She was married April 22, 1930, in Eldon, to C. Oliver Brockman, who died in 1982.
She had worked as a school teacher, a seamstress and was a postal clerk at the Tuscumbia Post Office for 29 years. She later co-managed Brockman's Wood Products, Tuscumbia. She was a member of Tuscumbia First Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one son, Jay Brockman, Shelbyville, Ind.; one sister, Veda Casady, Maquoketta, Iowa; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Don Bilbary will officiate. Burial will be in Tuscumbia Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Saturday.
Memorials are suggested to Tuscumbia Cemetery.
EVERS
Joseph G. Evers, 77, Marys Home, died April 19, 2001, at St. Elizabeth Care Center.
He was born April 7, 1924, in Marys Home, a son of Charles and Mary Kenworthy Evers. He was married May 14, 1946, in Marys Home, to Martha Hamacher, who died Oct. 3, 1986. He was married April 15, 1989, in Jefferson City, to Marie Letterman, who survives.
He worked as a concrete finisher, retiring from Bax's Construction in 1986. He then started his own lawn care business. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Eldon VFW Post 2442 and of the Knights of Columbus Council 3267 of Marys Home.
Other survivors include: four sons, Herbert Evers and Delbert Evers, both of Marys Home, and Edwin Evers and Christopher Evers, both of Lake Ozark; five stepdaughters, Joan Morgan, Russellville, Joyce Dudenhoeffer, Chamois, Janice Brunstrom, Fayette, Judy Williams, state of Florida, and Jackie Prenger, Hallsville; two stepsons, Roger Schaefer, Taos, Mike Schaefer, Linn; one sister, Bernadine Kempker, Henley; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and 15 step grandchildren.
One son, Ernest Lee Evers, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, Marys Home. The Rev. Clarence Wiederholt will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Phillips Funeral Home, Marys Home, with rosaries at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Our Lady of the Snows Cemetery Fund.
NEUMEYER
Jean J. Neumeyer, 82, Camdenton, died April 11, 2001, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach.
