RICH

Stanley E. Rich, 72, Lake Ozark, died May 10, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Aug. 4, 1928, in Medora, Ill., a son of Russell T. and Opal Marie Hightchew Rich. He was married June 25, 1950, in Bluffs, Ill., to Doris Stegemann, who survives at the home.

An Army veteran of the Korean War, he worked in management at Sears until his retirement.

He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Osage Beach.

Other survivors include: two sons, David Stanley Rich, Lake in the Hills, Ill., and Jeffrey Earl Rich, Westfield, Ind.; one daughter, Sandra Denise Reynolds, Decatur, Ill.; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at Hope Lutheran Church. Entombment will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the mausoleum at Hawthorn Cemetery,  Jefferson City.

Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or to Hope Lutheran Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach.

WYRICK

Nancy C. Wyrick, 64,  Jefferson City, died May 10, 2001, at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis.

She was born March 21, 1937, in Fulton, a daughter of James L. and Maude Means Branch. She was married Jan. 24, 1958, in Fulton, to Bill Wyrick, who survives at the home.

She was a 1955 graduate of Fulton High School and a 1958 graduate of Capital Business College. From 1958 to 1968, she was a secretary and payroll clerk at Roy Scheperle Construction. She was a secretary and administrative assistant in special education at Lincoln University from 1978 to 1987.

She was secretary to the dean of graduate studies and continuing education at Lincoln University from 1987 until her retirement in 1997. She was a member of Community Christian Church and involved in Lincoln's Learning and Retirement program.

Other survivors include: one son, Stan Wyrick, Kansas City; three daughters, Stacia Schaefer, Columbia, and Stefanie Wilson and Sheryl Wyrick, both of  Jefferson City; one sister, Alma Murphy, Fulton; and 10 grandchildren.

One daughter, Starla Wyrick, died March 13, 1971.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Community Christian Church. Burial will be private.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Community Christian Church, the Special Learning Center or Camp Quality.

Arrangements are under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Home.

WYRICK

Rex R. Wyrick, 78,  Jefferson City, died May 9, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born March 15, 1923, in Ulman, a son of Clyde M. and Gertrude Sullivan Wyrick. He was married June 26, 1944, in Kansas City, Kan., to Doris D. Edwards, who survives at the home.

A 1940 graduate of Tuscumbia High School, he first taught in 1941 in rural Miller County. He was a member of the Naval Reserve during World War II. He received a bachelor's in education in 1950 and a master's in education in 1953, both from Central Missouri State University.

He taught at Tuscumbia High School and served as principal at Versailles High School. He was principal at Warrensburg Junor-Senior High School and was superintendent of the Warrensburg District. He joined the Missouri State Department of Education in 1965 and retired in 1981 as superintendent of the State Schools for Severely Handicapped.

In 1982, he was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives from the 113th District. He served four terms and retired in 1990.

He was honored in 1990 by Central Missouri State University with the Outstanding Service Award for his work in education. He was recognized by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a Pioneer in Education in 1990.

He was a member and elder emeritus of the Community Christian Church in  Jefferson City. He was a member of Corinthian Lodge 265 AF & AM, Warrensburg; American Legion Post 229, Eldon; VFW Post 2442, Eldon; the Miller County Historical Society; the Missouri Retired Teachers Association; the Association of Retired State Employees; and AARP.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Karen Smith, Eugene; two sons, John Wyrick, San Francisco, and Ray Wyrick,  Jefferson City; one sister, Inez Woody, Lee's Summit; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Christian Church of Eldon. The Rev. David Avery will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, near Tuscumbia.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

Memorials are suggested to the Community Christian Church of  Jefferson City, or to the Tuscumbia High School Alumni Scholarship Fund.

DARO

Clifford W. "Pete" Daro, 70, Fulton, died May 10, 2001, at the University of Missouri Hospital, Columbia.

He was born Sept. 1, 1930, in Fulton, a son of George H. and Grace Myrtle Snell Daro. He was married March 4, 1955, in  Jefferson City, to Patricia A. Peterson, who survives at the home.

He served in the Army from 1954 to 1956. He worked at Daro's Garage for more than 50 years.

Other survivors include: five sons, Randall W. Daro, Christopher L. Daro, Ricky D. Daro and Timothy M. Daro, all of Fulton, and Michael D. Daro, Wellington; four daughters, Renee Daro Muir, Sullivan, Deborah Craighead, Diane Daro Hutchason and Lori Daro Coffelt, all of Fulton; one brother, Edward "Dick" Daro, Fairbanks, Alaska; two sisters, Mildred Brown, Anaheim, Calif., and Betty Bryant, Kingdom City; 27 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. Pastor Mike Crowson will officiate. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday.

PETERSON

Rubye F. Peterson, 70, Russellville, died May 10, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 8, 1930, in Pampa, Texas , a daughter of Robert L. and Elsie Marie Davis Ayers. She was married Sept. 18, 1976, in Liberal, Kan., to John T. Peterson, who survives at the home.

She was a graduate of Duncan High School, Duncan, Okla. In 1963 she became a LPN and worked for the Guymon,  Oklahoma Memorial Hospital. In 1969 she graduated from Cameron University, Lawton, Okla., with an associates degree in nursing. She was a registered nurse, working in the surgical and ICU units at various hospitals in the state of  Oklahoma, and later as an industrial nurse. She retired from Johnson-Controls in  Jefferson City.

She lived in Russellville since 1982, moving from Choctaw, Okla. She served as the Russellville mayor for several years.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Pamela Henderson, Lewisville, Texas ; four sons, Stephen Griffith, Arlington, Texas , John Thomas Griffith III, Atlanta, Jeffrey Griffith, Meridian, Miss., and Mark "Tracy" Price, Scottsdale, Ariz.; one brother, Robert Ayers, Crestview, Fla.; one sister, Patricia Kilpatrick; Twenty-nine Palms, Calif.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Russellville. Burial will be in Enloe Cemetery, Russellville.

Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Monday.

Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army.

BELL

William Henry Bell, 81, Tipton, died May 9, 2001, at Tipton Manor.

He was born Sept. 15, 1919, in Laddonia, a son of Leslie and Elizabeth Borden Bell.

He was a member of Community Baptist Church in Tipton. He lived in the Tipton community since 1968, having moved from Laddonia. He farmed and was a self-employed mechanic.

Survivors include: three sons, Leslie Bell, Morris, Ill., John Bell, Lewiston, Idaho, and Jim Bell, California, Mo.; four daughters, Doris Bell, Denver, Colo., Nancy Byars, Fortuna, Patti Robinson, Raytown, and Betty Crews, Lees Summit; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert Bell and Harold Bell.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home in Tipton, with the Rev. Randy DeVille officiating. Burial will follow at the Stover Cemetery.

Visitation will be at 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Tipton Community Baptist Church.

BERHORST

James Paul Berhorst, 64, Taos, died May 11, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born April 24, 1937, in Linn, a son of Leo Stephen and Clara Odelia Otto Berhorst. He was married June 28, 1958, in Taos to Helena Mildred Taube, who survives at the home.

He attended school at St. George Catholic School in Linn. He worked for  Jefferson City Manufacturing Company as a machinist for 40 years. He was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Taos, the Taos Knights of Columbus and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Other survivors include: four daughters, Susan Marie Wieners, Norma Leona Lepper and Jessica Lynn Kever, all of  Jefferson City, and Rose Mary Leykamp of Centralia; seven sons, Allen Joseph Berhorst and Gerald Robert Berhorst, both of Holts Summit, David John Berhorst and Dale Anthony Berhorst, both of  Jefferson City; Eugene Richard Berhorst, Taos, Matthew Ronald Berhorst, Ashland, and Leo James Berhorst, St. Louis; five sisters, Patricia Knapheide, Chamois, Leona Mengwasser, Taos, Leoba Mengwasser and Betty Gentges, both of Linn, Mary Ann Jimenez, St. Louis; four brothers, Robert Berhorst, Russellville, John Berhorst, Linn, Richard Berhorst, Bland, and Ronald Berhorst,  Jefferson City; and 19 grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with the Rev. David Maher officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors -- Taos Chapel, with a prayer service at 8 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Francis Xavier Parish Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.

GUTHRIE

Laura Lee Guthrie, 79, Columbia, died May 10, 2001, at Columbia Health Care.

She was born Oct. 21, 1921, in Auxvasse, a daughter of Richard Galbreath and Bertha Henderson Galbreath. She was married March 21, 1943, to Albert Guthrie who preceded her in death.

She attended school in Auxvasse and was a member of Simpson Chapel AME Church in Columbia.

Survivors include: four sons, William Albert Guthrie, Larry Dean Galbreath, and Robert Dale Guthrie, all of Columbia, and Ronald Lee Guthrie, St. Charles; one brother, Richard Galbreath, Des Moines; one sister, Maggie Johnson,  Jefferson City; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the St. Paul AME Church, 501 Park Ave., in Columbia with the Rev. Clifton St. James officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Warren Funeral Chapel, 10 4th Street, in Columbia.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 514 E. Capitol Ave., in  Jefferson City, or the Alzheimer's Special Care Environment, 1801 Towne Dr., in Columbia.

HULL

Farrell Laverne Hull, 60, Eugene, died May 11, 2001, in Columbia.

He was born Oct. 12, 1940, in Eldon, a son of Jesse and Pearl Crown Hull. He was married July 2, 1960, in Paoli, Pa., to Barbara Gatlos Hull, who survives at the home.

He was a member of Fellowship Bible Church of Eldon. He was a past member of the Amvets of Rocky Mount, the VFW Post 2442 of Eldon and the American Legion of Lake Ozark. He served in the Army from 1957 to 1977, retiring with a SFCR. He worked in auto sales.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Catherine Kirkweg, Eugene, and Sharon Blankenship, High Point; three brothers, Hansford Hull, Gifford, Ill., Donald Hull, Eldon, and Jimmy Hull, state of Florida; two sisters, Mary Lou Davis and Nina Mangrum, both of Wartrace, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Fellowship Bible Church, Eldon. The Rev. Jim Shepherd will officiate. Burial will be in Dooley Cemetery, Eldon.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the Fellowship Bible Church Missionary Fund.
