ELLIOTT-PRIOR
Brenda Kay Elliott-Prior, 46, Jefferson City, died May 15, 2001, at her home.
She was born Sept. 3, 1954, in California, a daughter of Truman E. and Ruby Jean Connell Elliott. Her mother and stepfather, Ruby Jean and Herbert Wyrick, survive in Jefferson City. She was married June 25, 1994, in Jefferson City, to James King Prior, who survives.
A 1972 graduate of Jefferson City High School, she worked as a secretary at the Missouri Division of Highway Safety. She previously had been a secretary at the Missouri House of Representatives.
She also is survived by two brothers, Danny J. Elliott and Steve D. Elliott, both of Jefferson City.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. Kenny Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Friday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
FERGUSON
Leona "Dody" Ferguson, 70, Crocker, died May 14, 2001, at her home.
She was born Sept. 29, 1930, in St. Louis County, a daughter of Oscar and Myrtle Morris Windecker. She was married Aug. 4, 1951, in Valley Park, to Earl Ferguson, who survives at the home.
She was a member of the Lutheran Church.
Other survivors include: three sons, James Ferguson, Lake Ozark, Johnny Ferguson, Galena, Kan., and Earl Ferguson III, Mountainair, N.M.; three daughters, Bernice "Bunny" Ferguson, St. Louis, Vickie Morton, Winchester, and Sarah Clennon, Austin, Minn.; two sisters, Bernice Sanders, Joplin, and Nancy Pickering, Galena, Kan.; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
One son, Billy Ferguson, died Sept. 28, 1988.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Long Funeral Home, Crocker. Bro. Mike Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Mitchell Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today and from noon-1 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials are suggested to Lake Ozark Hospice, P.O. Box 498, Crocker, or to the American Cancer Society.
SKINNER
Virgil Otis Skinner, 80 Macks Creek, died May 14, 2001, at his home.
He was born Feb. 27, 1921, in Macks Creek, a son of John W. and Myrtle Irene Rich Skinner. He was married Aug. 15, 1940, in Macks Creek, to Erna Ruth Jackson, who survives at the home.
A Navy veteran of World War II, he was general manager for Readygas for 20 years, retiring in 1987. He raised Holstein cattle and was a member of the Branch Assembly of God Church.
Other survivors include: three sons, Leon Skinner and John Skinner, both of Macks Creek, and Duane Skinner, Lee's Summit; one daughter, Naomi Handy, Columbia; two sisters, Chole Wood, Macks Creek, and Essie Carnahan, Seattle; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Branch Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Paul Stevens will officiate. Burial will be in Stanton Chapel Cemetery, Macks Creek.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Hedges Funeral Home, Macks Creek.
Memorials are suggested to Stanton Chapel Cemetery or Lake Ozark Area Hospice.
FLYNN
Harold E. Flynn, 77, Fulton, died May 13, 2001, at his home.
He was born Feb. 17, 1924, in Mt. Sterling, Ill., a son of Henry E. and Rachel Crooks Flynn. He was married June 7, 1947, to Jean Sommers, who survives at the home.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He graduated from Culver Stockton College in 1950. He coached in Barry, Ill., before becoming assistant basketball coach at Westminster College in 1954. He coached baseball for 30 years. In addition to being head baseball coach, he was a full professor, head basketball coach, volleyball coach and athletic director. He retired in 1991.
Other survivors include: two sons, Charles Craig Flynn, Mexico, and Kevin K. Flynn, Fulton; two daughters, Deborah A. Sandberg, Stratham, N.H., and Denise D. Scott, Columbia; two sisters, Gladys Wegs, Quincy, Ill., and Emma DeWitt, Mt. Sterling, Ill.; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. Raymond McCallister will officiate.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials are suggested to the Central Missouri Dream Factory, or to Missouri River Hospice.
BELLECI
Dominick Marquis Belleci died at birth May 14, 2001, in Osage Beach.
He was a son of Ariane Doran and Brian Belleci, both of Eldon.
Other survivors include: one brother, Kristofer Doran, Eldon; maternal grandparents Kelley and Bob Swope, Rocky Mount; maternal great-grandparents John and Lil Patterson, Eldon; and paternal grandmother Terri Fuller, Klamath Falls, Ore.
The body was cremated under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home. Private services are pending.
TULLOCK
Sophia May Tullock, 83, Maryland Heights, formerly of California, died May 14, 2001, in Brookview Nursing Home, Maryland Heights.
She was born April 25, 1918, in Ravenna, Ohio, a daughter of Wesley D. and Edna Wetzel. She was married to Ralph Tullock, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include: two daughters, Billie Beine and Shirley May Manley, both of St. Charles; one brother, William F. Wetzel, Wentzville; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Baue Funeral and Memorial Center, St. Charles. Burial will be in St. Charles Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society.
BRESTER
James John "Jim" Brester, 74, Jefferson City, died May 15, 2001, at Jefferson City Manor.
He was born Dec. 26, 1926, in Bonnots Mill, a son of John A. and Augusta E. Evers Brester. He was married Sept. 3, 1955, in Jefferson City, to Nina Sue Waggoner, who died July 4, 1985.
He was co-owner of Schell and Ward and later an employee of American Shoe. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church, VFW Post 1003, American Legion Post 5 and Fraternal Order of Eagles 2693. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include: three sons, Brad Brester, David Brester and Bill Brester, all of Jefferson City; one sister, Joan Bumberry, Overland; and five grandchildren.
One son, Steve Brester, died in 1988.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peters Catholic Church. The Rev. Donald Lammers will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the educational trust fund for the grandchildren of James Brester or a charity of the donor's choice.
SMAY
Helen M. Smay, 82, Jefferson City, died May 16, 2001, at Heisinger Lutheran Retirement Home.
She was born Jan. 11, 1919, in Shelbyville, a daughter of Wayne and Leta Keller Fox. She was married Dec. 20, 1958, in Columbia, to Eldon Smay, who died Aug. 7, 1975.
A graduate of Shelbyville High School, she lived in Central Missouri for 60 years. She was employed as a secretary with Farm Bureau Insurance and later the Family Life Insurance Company until her retirement in 1977.
Survivors include: three sisters, Eleanor Trussell, O'Fallon, Marilyn Turnbaugh, St. Louis, and Carol Hays, Palm Desert, Calif.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Freeman Mortuary. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Shelbina Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday.
Memorials are suggested to the Heisinger Lutheran Retirement Home.
HEIDBREDER
Duane Henry Heidbreder, 55, Jefferson City, died May 14, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born April 16, 1946, in Astoria, Ore., a son of Wilburn F. and Catherine E. Dudenhoeffer Heidbreder. He was married June 26, 1981, in Jefferson City, to Diana Marie Rackers, who survives at the home.
A graduate of Jefferson City High School, he owned and operated Duane H. Heidbreder Floors for 30 years.
He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Other survivors include: one son, Andrew Scott Reed, Lohman; one daughter, Marsha Everts, Russellville; one brother, Harvey T. Heidbreder, Lee's Summit; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. The Rev. Louis E. Dorn will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to St. Stanislaus Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are under the direction of Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.
FRANCIS
George Francis, 58, Fulton, died May 14, 2001, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.
He was born Feb. 21, 1943, in St. Louis, a son of Virgil and Anna Marie Kapuster Francis.
He had lived in St. Louis.
Survivors include: three brothers, Richard Francis and Michael Francis, both of St. Louis, and Johnny Francis, Overland; and one sister, Barbara Eskew, St. Clair.
Services will be at a later date.
