JOHNSON

Bob Johnson, 68, Dixon, died May 18, 2001, at his home.

He was born May 25, 1932, in Piggott, Ark., a son of Oscar and Sybil Pulley Johnson. He was married Nov. 8, 1979, in Dixon, to Marlene Wolf Virgin, who survives at the home.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Dixon, and a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was employed in automobile sales in finance and insurance until he retired in 1994.

Other survivors include: two sons, Douglas Johnson, St. Peters and Dana Johnson, Kansas City; two daughters, Amber Johnson, Seal Beach, Calif., and Keri Ray, Dixon; one brother, Kenny Johnson, Walcott, Ark.; three sisters, Joy Wollett, Ella Mae Greear and Jonell Jones, all of Walcott; and seven grandchildren.

One stepson, Jeffrey Virgin, died May 11, 1987.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church. The Rev. John Parker, the Rev. Kenny Johnson and the Rev. Kerry Messer will officiate. Burial will be in Dixon Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon. There also will be a visitation from 9-10 a.m. Monday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the Youth Group of First Baptist Church, Dixon.

MENGWASSER

Leo C. Mengwaser, 93, Rich Fountain, died May 18, 2001, at Westphalia Retirement Center.

He was born July 11, 1907, in Rich Fountain, a son of Peter and Anna Radmacher Mengwasser. He was married Nov. 9, 1946, in Central Falls, R.I., to Frances B. Delisle, who died Oct. 24, 1991.

He was a lifelong area resident, a farmer and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Rich Fountain, the VFW and American Legion Post 0317.

Survivors include: five sons, Leo and Gerard "Gary" Mengwasser, both of Rockford, Ill., Alan Mengwasser,  Jefferson City, Carl Mengwasser, Rich Fountain and Wayne Mengwasser, Loose Creek; one daughter, Luann Mengwasser,  Jefferson City; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five children and one grandson.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Church. The Rev. Mark Porterfield will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the church, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Missouri Coalition for Quality Care, the American Heart Fund or the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are under the direction of Morton Funeral Home, Linn.

LLOYD

Gary Edward Lloyd, 52, Hermann, died May 18, 2001, in rural Warren county.

He was born Aug. 26, 1948, in Washington , a son of Robert H. and Norma L. Brinkmann Lloyd. His parents survive in Hermann. He was married July 16, 1976, in Hermann, to Ruth K. Hoerstkamp, who survives at the home.

He was a licensed nursing home administrator for 20 years. He worked at Leather Technologies, Pretium Packaging and Moore Gear. He was a substitute teacher in the Hermann school system.

He was a member of St. Paul U.C.C. and the Loutre Shore Country Club. He was a 1966 Owensville High School graduate, and received a bachelor's degree in biology and education from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Other survivors include: one son, Benjamin Lloyd, of the home; and two sisters, Chery Fricke and Cathy Lloyd-Henson, both of Hermann.

Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann.

Visitation will be from 3-7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to the Carol Sue Lionberger Scholarship Fund.

KOEHN

Monty Lee Koehn, 36, Stover, died May 18, 2001, near Stover.

He was born Jan. 21, 1965, in Nevada, a son of Jacob and Ella Rose Koehn. His parents survive in Stover. He was married July 7, 1985, to Carol Joan Koehn, who survives at the home.

He was an owner-operator truck driver. He was a member of the Church of God In Christ Mennonite Church, Oak Ridge Mennonite Congregation, near Stover.

Other survivors include: two sons, Richard Lee Koehn and Danial Lynn Koehn, both of the home; three brothers, Anthony Koehn and Wesley Koehn, both of Stover, and Dexter Koehn, Gruver, Texas ; two sisters, Twila Koehn and Karen Koehn, both of Stover; paternal grandmother, Katie Koehn, Ulysses, Kan.; and maternal grandfather, Amiel Koehn, Livingston, Calif.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Oak Ridge Mennonite Church. Minister Don Wedel will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.

Memorials are suggested to the church.

SNORGRASS

Elsie Corine Snorgrass, 83, Versailles, died May 18, 2001, at Good Shepherd Care Center, Versailles.

She was born Oct. 23, 1917, in Cooper County, a daughter of Oliver P. and Addie Groves Worley. She was married Dec. 16, 1942, in Tipton, to Gordon Snorgrass, who survives at the home.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Tipton. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. For 20 years she worked as a leather splitter for the Weber Shoe Company, her retiring in 1972.

Other survivors include: two sons, Donald Snorgrass and Patrick Snorgrass, both of Tipton; one sister, Alma Draffen, Harrisonville; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton. The Rev. Dusty Klein will officiate. Burial will be in Tipton Masonic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday.

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.

WOLKEN

Otto Bernard Wolken, 94, Osage Bend, died May 18, 2001, at St. Elizabeth Care Center.

He was born Oct. 10, 1908, in  Jefferson City, a son of Herman and Catherine Backers Wolken. He was married April 5, 1932, in Taos, to Rosie A. Prenger, who died Feb. 14, 1990.

A farmer, he attended St. Margaret's School, Osage Bend. He was a member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church, Osage Bend.

Survivors include: one son, Albert H. Wolken, Wardsville; one daughter, Anna C. Schulte, Eugene; one brother, Anton Wolken, Osage Bend; four sisters, Regina Lueckenotte, Mary Lueckenotte, Hilda Lueckenotte and Frances Bonnot, all of  Jefferson City; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Margaret's Catholic Church, Osage Bend. The Rev. Louis Dorn and the Rev. Dan Lueckenotte will officiate. Burial will be in St. Margaret's Parish Cemetery, Osage Bend.

Visitation will be from 5-7:30 p.m. today at Buescher Memorial Home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to St. Margaret's Cemetery Fund or a charity of the donor's choice.

WAKELAND

Jason Parker Wakeland, four and one-half month old son of Stephanie M. Wakeland, died May 19, 2001, at his home in Taos.

He was born Jan. 3, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.

Other survivors include: maternal grandparents, Richard and Bonnie Wakeland, Taos; maternal great-grandparents, Louis and Mathilda Forck, Taos; and maternal great-grandmother, Mary Wakeland, Freeburg.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Church, Taos. Fr. Dave Maher will officiate. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to the Missouri River Home Health and Hospice or the St. Francis Xavier Our Parish Our Future Fund.

Arrangements are under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, Taos.

DRAKE

Billy Eugene Drake, 37, Versailles, died May 19, 2001, at the University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics, Columbia.

He was born Sept. 25, 1963, in Wichita, Kan., a son of Gene Gates and Frances R. Drake. His mother, Frances R. Teague, survives in Stover.

He attended Wichita Heights High School. He had been employed at the Embers Restaurant in Derby, Kan.

Other survivors include: two brothers, Charles D. Swisher, Stover, and William D. Kolb, Marshall; one sister, Georgia A. Bailey, Versailles; and his maternal grandmother, Sarah M. Drake, Stover.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Stover. The Rev. Denzil Webb will officiate. Burial will be in Stover Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9-11 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the Billy Drake Memorial Fund in care of Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, 210 E. Jasper, Versailles, Mo. 65084.

HOPKINS

Lula Hopkins, 98, Independence, formerly of Versailles, died May 18, 2001, at the Medical Center of Independence.

She was born March 5, 1903, in Versailles, a daughter of John W. and Luna Cummins Cowell. She was married June 4, 1921, to Lloyd Wiggins, who died Oct. 2, 1959. She was married to Henry Johnson, who preceded her in death. She was married to Thomas Hopkins, who preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and worked as a seamstress.

Survivors include: one son, John W. Wiggins, Independence; one daughter, Lila Fitzpatrick, North Kansas City; several stepchildren; eight grandchildren; step grandchildren; great-grandchildren; step great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and step great-great-grandchildren.

One son, Lloyd Wiggins Jr., preceded her in death.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Versailles City Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Versailles.
