BOETTCHER

Kathryn Louis Blacksten Boettcher, 59, Versailles, died May 25, 2001, near Versailles, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

She was born Feb. 14, 1942, in Excelsior, a daughter of Rolla "Ted" and hazel Marie Rastle Blacksten. She was married April 1976 to Karl Boettcher, who survives of the home.

She worked for Cargill, Inc., for 32 years.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Tammy Witherspoon, Eldon; two brothers, Donald Blacksten, Clarksburg, and Ronnie Blacksten, Versailles; and two sisters, Karen Boettcher, Roeland Park, Kan., and Barbara Kay Lietzke, California.

She was preceded in death by two step-sons, George Edward Boettcher and Albert Henry Boettcher.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Leslie Howard will officiate.

Burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery, near Barnett.

Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Monday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.

BORGHARDT

Audrey Verna Borghardt, 85,  Jefferson City, died May 25, 2001, in Fairway, Kan.

She was born Oct. 9, 1915, in Gerald, a daughter of William and Bessie Roark Brown. She was married in 1937, to Vincent B. Rolfes. She was married July 13, 1963, in Mission Hills, Kan., to Eugene W. Borghardt, who died Aug. 27, 2000.

She attended  Jefferson City schools. She worked for Frank's Ready to Wear Boutique,  Jefferson City, for more than 25 years. She was a member of the Central United Church of Christ.

Survivors include: one brother, Erman Coulter, Tonganoxie, Kan.; two sisters, Bessie Dean Vivian,  Jefferson City, and Peggy Bryant, Russellville; and two grandchildren.

One daughter, Judy A. Snyder, died April 29, 1975.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. The Rev. Stephen Buchholz will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to the Hospice of  Jefferson City, 601 E. High St.,  Jefferson City, Mo. 65101; or the Hospice of Kansas City, 12006 W. 87th St. Parkway, Lenexa, Kan., 66215.

DETTE

Henry Dette, 87, Dixon, died May 25, 2001, at Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla.

He was born April 20, 1914, in Brinktown, a son of Paul and Mary Juergens Dette. He was married June 7, 1941, in Dixon, to Allieen Cain, who survives at the home.

He was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church and Senior Citizens Center, both of Dixon. He was a farmer and later owned and operated his own student transportation service. He was a school bus driver for 30 years, retiring in 1978.

Other survivors include: one son, William P. Dette, St. Peters; one daughter, Mary S. Dette Butts, Little Rock, Ark.; one brother, Emil Dette, Dixon; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, Dixon. The Rev. Walter Reisinger will officiate. Burial will be in Dixon Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon.

Memorials are suggested to the Dixon United Methodist Church.

HAHN

Ruth A. Payne Hahn, 85, Hickory Hill, died May 26, 2001, at the Eldon Healthcare, Eldon.

She was born Nov. 6, 1915, near Russellville, a daughter of Luther and Desdie M. Miller Payne. She was married Dec. 24, 1934, in  Jefferson City to Herbert A. Hahn, who preceded her in death May 24, 1996.

She attended the New Zion school, near Enon. She was a homemaker and owned and operated a dairy farm with her husband near Hickory Hill. She drove a school bus for the Cole County R-V school district, Eugene, and was active in and held office in the Cole County R-V, Eugene Parent-Teacher Association. She was a member of the Hickory Hill Baptist Church, where she was church pianist and organist, a Sunday School teacher, church clerk and committee member. She was a member of the Hickory Hill Community Club, Quilting Club, and a leader of the Hickory Hill 4-H Club.

Survivors include: one son, Earl Hahn, Eugene; five daughters, Ruby Leuthen, Parkville, Bertha Busch, Janie Morrow and Bernice Kallenbach, all of Eugene, and Marie Cox, Nevada; one sister, Laverne Payne, Russellville; 17 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren and 10 step great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hickory Hill Baptist Church. The Rev. Shane Crum and the Rev. Bill Cox will officiate. Burial will be in Hickory Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Russellville and from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the Hickory Hill Baptist Church or the Hickory Hill Cemetery.

LINSENBARDT

Frieda L. Linsenbardt, 89, Lohman, died May 26, 2001, at  Jefferson City Manor Care Center.

She was born Dec. 5, 1911, in Brazito, a daughter of Charles A. and Maude Rebecca Bainer Bates. She was married Feb. 1, 1936, in Lohman, to Oscar Linsenbardt, who died May 8, 1995.

She attended Pleasant Valley School, Brazito. A homemaker, she was self-employed as a wallpaper hanger in Cole and Miller counties. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lohman, where she was active in Ladies Aid Sewing Circle.

Survivors include: one son, Lester Linsenbardt, Lohman; one brother, Oliver Bates,  Jefferson City; two sisters, Arlene Fischer, Versailles, and Vaneta Van Pool, Olean; and one granddaughter.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lohman. The Rev. Carl Gauck will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Russellville.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Organ Fund, the St. Paul's Lutheran Perpetual Cemetery or the Johnson Cemetery.

TUGGLE

Abe Jack Tuggle, 63, Royse City, Texas , died May 25, 2001, at Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas.

He was born July 27, 1937, in Fort Worth, Texas , a son of Junior O. and Dora Mae Tuggle. He was married March 3, 1962, in  Jefferson City, to Venita Mueller, who survives at the home.

He was a graduate of the Garland High Class of 1955 and served in the Army. He worked with Hughes Tool Company for 15 years. For 27 years he worked as a director of animal services for the City of Garland.

He helped found the Texas Animal Control Association (TACA). In 1999 he received a Life Time Achievement Award from TACA and the Sarah J. Kilpatrick Award.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Teresa Tuggle, Rockwall, Texas , and Roslyn Van Winkle, Arp, Texas ; one son, Justin Tuggle, Brownfield, Texas ; one brother, W.R. Tuggle, Farmersville, Texas ; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, Garland, Texas . Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Lipan, Texas .

Memorials are suggested to the Baylor University Medical Center Pulmonary Unit, the Texas Animal Control Association or the charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Williams Funeral Directors, Garland.

MITCHELL

William R. Mitchell, 75, Osage Beach, died May 26, 2001, at his home.

He was born June 30, 1925, in Louisville, Ky., a son of Howard C. and Ruth Davies Mitchell. He was married in 1953 to Martha McIntosh, who survives at the home.

He graduated from the University of Louisville and received a graduate degree from Northwestern University. He was the first administrator at Lake Ozark General Hospital and was the Camden County Health Department administrator. He was a life member of the Rotary Club.

Other survivors include: one son, William Patterson Mitchell, Osage Beach; one daughter, Martha Christy Everett, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; one brother, Dr. Howard C. Mitchell, Louisville; and one sister, Mary Sue Svovoda, Longmont, Colo.

Services will be at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society at the First National Bank, or a charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach.

BROKER

Services were May 14, 2001, for Joseph John Broker, 83, Raleigh, N.C., formerly of Frankenstein, who died May 12, 2001, at his home.

He was born April 1, 1918, a son of Michael and Anna Broker. He was married Oct. 26, 1939, in Esbon, Kan., to Twyla Marie "Sue" Belden, who survives at the home.

He was a veteran of World War II and attended St. Francis of Assisi Church, Raleigh.

Other survivors include: four daughters, Sister Margaret Sue, Walls, Miss., Lucy Langwell and Joe Ann Warner, both of Brookfield, and Patty Langford, Raleigh; two sons, Joseph Broker,  Oklahoma City, and Vincent Broker, Raytown; two brothers, Vincent Broker, Linn, and Michael Broker Jr., Lohman; one sister, Mary Ann Kremer, Frankenstein; 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and two great-great-great-grandchildren.

One son, Theodore Broker, preceded him in death.

Services were at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Local services will be at 11 a.m. June 29 at St. Patrick's Shrine, Laurie. The remains were cremated.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mountlawn Funeral Home, Raleigh, N.C.

FREEGARD

Edgar Allen Freegard, 81, Iberia, died May 28, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 4, 1920, in Wichita, Kan., a son of Allen J. and Fern Bates Freegard. He was married Dec. 4, 1943, in Waynesville, to Bonnie Venetta Wall, who died Jan. 25, 1975. He was married March 15, 1978, in Miami, Okla., to Addie Ruth Crismon, who survives at the home.

An Army veteran of World War II, he worked in Centralia, returning to Iberia in 1963. He worked as a carpenter; was an assistant manager at L.B. Manufacturing from 1955 to 1961; owned and operated Village Shell from 1964 to 1990; and owned and operated Ruth's Village Snackett, all in Iberia.

He was a member of Iberia American Legion Post 105, the Iberia Saddle Club, Iberia Masonic Lodge 410 A.F. & A.M. and the Moolah Shrine Temple, St. Louis. He was a member of the National Association Legions of Honor, Springfield, and the U.S. Horse Cavalry Association. He was a 32nd degree Mason in the Scottish Rite in St. Louis.

Other survivors include: one son, Billy Freegard, Iberia; one daughter, Donna Gladden, Iberia; one sister, Ruth Schnarr, Rose Hill, Kan.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The Rev. Larry Young will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in Iberia Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to American Legion Post 105 or the American Cancer Society.
