BELL

Rose Marie Avey Bell, 66, Raytown, formerly of Versailles, died May 26, 2001.

She was born March 22, 1935, in Ft. Morgan, Colo., a daughter of Ora and Frances Farnik Avey. She was married in 1954 to O.A. Belle, who survives at the home.

She graduated from high school in Stover and worked at Pat's Cafe and Kansas City Bifocal Plant. In 1967, she moved to Gering, Neb., where she worked for United Telephone and later became a Gering Police Department dispatcher.

She moved back to Missouri in 1982, residing in  Jefferson City and St. Louis before moving to Raytown. She volunteered at the Truman Medical Center gift shop.

Other survivors include: one son, Michael Bell, Sugarland, Texas ; one daughter, Robin Robinson, Clayton, Calif.; five brothers, Larry Avey and Phil Avey, both of Lincoln, Lavern Avey, Fortuna, Ronnie Avey, Odessa, and David Avey, Versailles; four sisters, Marcella Hunter, Tampa, Fla., Loretta Partain, Lancaster, Calif., Lois Marriott, Springfield, and Linda Koester, Stover; and one granddaughter.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Eugenia "Jeannie" Leeper will officiate. Burial will be in Garber Memorial Estates, Laurie.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to Truman Medical Center Lakewood Auxiliary.

GEIGER

Hazel Viola Geiger, 67, Tipton, died May 28, 2001, in Tipton.

She was born Aug. 12, 1933, in Stover, a son of Edward F. and Eula Burnett Branch. She was married April 22, 1967, in Noweta, Okla., to Roy Geiger, who survives at the home.

She attended Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, Holts Summit. She lived in Holts Summit for 25 years and moved to Tipton in 1997. She worked at the Heisinger Retirement Home as a medical technician for 13 years.

Other survivors include: one sister, Pauline Robertson, Tipton; and four brothers, Milburn Palmes, Tipton, Russell "Gene" Branch, Eldon, Wesley Branch, Syracuse, and Oliver Lee Branch, Independence.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton. Burial will be in Tipton Odd Fellow Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association.

JOHNSON

Bessie Johnson, 92, Crocker, died May 29, 2001, at Tri-County Care Center, Richland.

She was born Dec. 13, 1908, in Crocker, a daughter of James and Eliza Thomas Oldham. She was married Feb. 10, 1930, to Hosea E. Kelley, who preceded her in death. She was married March 13, 1939, in Arkansas to Jesse E. Johnson, who died June 2, 1964.

She was a member of Crocker Presbyterian Church, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Crocker.

She was employed for 24 years as a seamstress at Fort Leonard Wood until retiring in 1974.

Survivors include: one son, Edward H. Kelley, Crocker; one daughter, Elsie Mae Powell, Lake Wales, Fla.; one sister, Hazel Benham, Silex; three granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren.

One son, Charles Johnson, and one grandson preceded her in death.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Crocker Presbyterian Church. Pastor William Knudsen will officiate. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery, Crocker.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Long Funeral Home, Crocker, and from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday at Crocker Presbyterian Church.

Memorials are suggested to Crocker Presbyterian Church.

KILLIAN

Zelda L. Killian, 74, Camdenton, died May 27, 2001, at her home.

She was born April 23, 1927, in Melbourne, Ark., a daughter of Everett and Ada Puckett Smith. She was married Oct. 12, 1948, to Verner Killian, who preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include: three daughters, Janet Tendick, Oak Park, Ill., and Judy Dampier and Jeanna Osborn, both of Camdenton; one brother, Aaron Everett Smith, Sacramento, Calif.; one sister, Jane Jones, Jordon, Ark.; and eight grandchildren.

One son, Kenneth Killian, and one grandson preceded her in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Calico Rock, Ark. The Rev. Wayne Wood will officiate. Burial will be in Pineville Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery, Pineville, Ark.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton.

PRIESMEYER

Joseph Martin Priesmeyer, 58, Columbia, formerly of  Jefferson City, died May 28, 2001, in Columbia.

He was born April 1, 1943, in St. Louis, a son of Jack Jr. and Alice Lademan Priesmeyer. He was married Jan. 22, 1966, in  Jefferson City, to Marydeth Scheppers, who survives.

He graduated from Chaminade High School, St. Louis, in 1961. He received a bachelor's degree in business administration/psychology from St. Louis University in 1965 and a master's degree in education from the University of Missouri in 1980.

An Air Force veteran, he retired as operations manager at Missouri Book Services in 1988. He was program director of the Family Counseling Center, Columbia, from 1979 to 1981 and he was a sales manager for N.H. Scheppers Distributing Company, Columbia, from 1970 to 1979.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, personnel advisory board, Columbia. He served as president and member of board of directors of Broadway Swim Club and he was a former president and board member of Country Club of Missouri.

Other survivors include: three sons, Joseph M. Priesmeyer Jr., Scott T. Priesmeyer and Shawn M. Priesmeyer, all of Columbia; three brothers, Jack Priesmeyer III and Tom Priesmeyer, both of St. Louis, and Scott Priesmeyer, Denver; two sisters, Susie Sheehan, Raymore, and Sally Bowman, Steamboat Springs, Colo.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Edwin Cole will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Columbia Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Home, Columbia, with a prayer service at 8:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Missouri River Hospice, 3210 Bluff Creek Dr., Columbia, Mo. 65201; J.P. Youth Golf Foundation, c/o Bob Roper, Boone County National Bank, P.O. Box 577, Columbia, Mo., or a charity of the donor's choice.

REDEKER

Beatrice R. Redeker, 94,  Jefferson City, died May 29, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 17, 1906, in Morrison, a daughter of Fred A. and Rebecca Langhorst Engelage. She was married Jan. 19, 1929, in Champaign, Ill., to Marvin E. Redeker, who died in 1990.

A resident of Morrison until 1987, she was a homemaker. She was employed part-time at Community Bank of Morrison for 20 years.

She was a member of Central United Church of Christ and a past member of St. James United Church of Christ, Morrison, the Women's Fellowship and Sunday school.

Survivors include two sons, Gary M. Redeker, Chicago, and Fredric Drew Redeker,  Jefferson City, and two granddaughters.

One infant daughter, Beverly Jane Redeker, died in 1934.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. James United Church of Christ. The Rev. Bruce Edwards will officiate. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery, Morrison.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home, Morrison.

Memorials are suggested to Clary Cemetery Fund, in care of St. James United Church of Christ.

WOOD

James W. Wood, 74, Climax Springs, died May 27, 2001, at his home.

He was born May 2, 1927, in Jacksonville, Ill., a son of James L. and Mary Garneda Phelps Wood. He was married May 29, 1950, to Mary Ellen Potter, who survives at the home.

He from high school in Jacksonville. A Navy veteran, he attended Illinois College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in 1951. He worked for McGraw-Hill Book Company until his retirement. He also had lived in New Jersey and Chesterfield.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Gail Bretz, Florissant, Ellen W. Plain, Framingham, Mass., and Susan W. Swedlund, Beloit, Wis.; one son, James P. Wood, Kilgore, Texas ; and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be at 5 p.m. Thursday at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton. Burial will be at a later date in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Jacksonville.

Memorials are suggested to the Lake Ozark Area Home Health and Hospice.

FINDLAY

Margaret Ann Findlay, 74,  Jefferson City, died May 27, 2001, at her home.

She was born July 1, 1926, in  Jefferson City, a daughter of Herman and Elizabeth Ann Wilbers Gangwish. She was married May 22, 1943, in  Jefferson City, to Fred L. Findlay, who died March 8, 1998.

She attended  Jefferson City public schools.

A homemaker, she also had been employed at the Purple Dress Shoppe and with the Missouri Department of Revenue for 23 years before retiring.

She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.

Survivors include: one daughter, Patricia Ann Walker,  Jefferson City; one brother, Clifford Gangwish,  Jefferson City; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

One daughter, Sharon Kay Gillispie, died April 7, 1981.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Buescher Memorial Home. The Rev. Bill Wormsley and the Rev. Jim Shaven will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice or the American Diabetes Association.

GEORGE

William "Bill" George, 79, Osage Beach, died May 29, 2001, in Osage Beach.

He was born Jan. 17, 1922, in Light, Ark., a son of Johnnie F. and Altha Evelyn Rogers George.

An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he was a shipping clerk for McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis for 38 years. He was a member of the Machinist Union in St. Louis. He lived in the Eldon area the past 31 years.

Survivors include: two sons, Danny S. George, Kansas City, and Kevin R. George, Lake Ozark; two sisters, Audrey Wagner, Mansfield, Texas , and Evelyn Wagner, St. Louis; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

One son, Steven Lloyd George, preceded him in death.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Eldon City Cemetery. The Rev. Dan Duckworth will officiate.

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.
