ANZALONE

Anthony A. Anzalone, 77, Eldon, died May 12, 1999, at Lake of the Ozarks General Hospital, Osage Beach.

He was born Oct. 11, 1921, in Highland, N.Y., a son of Salvador and Marie Liscendrella Anzalone. He was married Feb. 11, 1950, in Chicago, to Helen Niedwiecki, who survives at the home.

He owned and operated a service station. A Catholic, he was an Army veteran of World War II.

Other survivors include: four sons, Anthony Anzalone Jr. and Timothy Anzalone, both of Eldon, Alan Anzalone, Tucson, Ariz., and Steven Anzalone, Little Rock, Ark.; one daughter, Cynthia Prindle, Eldon; one brother, Sam Fucarino, Crystal Lake, Ill.; one sister, Rosalie Peterson, Blackwell, Okla.; 25 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

One son, Salvador Anzalone, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Saturday.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

McDONALD

Otis Lee "John" McDonald, 81, Sunrise Beach, died May 6, 1999, in Roach.

He was born April 26, 1918, in Sparta, Ill., a son of Joseph II and Dora A. Forsee McDonald. He was married Aug. 3, 1937, in Cumberland, Md., to Theresa Walker, who died in 1986.

He worked in advertising, sales and promotions at G and C Marina, Roach. He owned and operated a restaurant, in Warrensburg, for 18 years and KC Marina, Sunrise Beach, for 30 years. He was a member of American Legion, Warrensburg.

Survivors include: one brother, Earl McDonald, Broken Arrow, Okla.

Services will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton.

SNODGRASS

Helen Snodgrass, 87, Durham, N.C. , died Jan. 10, 1999, in Durham.

She was born, Jan. 7, 1912. She was married April 21, 1933, to Raymond Snodgrass, who died May 1, 1989.

She was a 1933 graduate of the University of Missouri. She taught health and fitness for 35 years. She received many honors for her years of volunteer work in the Washington , D.C. area. She received recognition by The National Institutes of Health and the Parkinsonian Society of Washington , D.C. for her work with people with Parkinson's disease.

A former Joplin resident, she won gold and silver medals in the Master's Olympics in the 1970s.

Survivors include: one son, Rex Snodgrass, Weaverville, N.C.; one daughter, Jill Mitchell, Durham; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Vienna United Methodist Church, Vienna. The Rev. Karen Alden will officiate. Inurnment will be in Snodgrass Cemetery, Vienna.

Arrangements are under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.

WILCOX

Myrtle S. Wilcox, 93, Dixon, died May 10, 1999, at Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla.

She was born Nov. 22, 1905, in Linden, Texas , a daughter of Oscar M. and Georgann Wesson Swinford. She was married in 1952 in Temple, Texas , to James H. Wilcox, who died in 1972.

She was a nurse at Fort Hood, Texas , for 24 years until her retirement in 1967. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one daughter, Jimmie Bigus, Dixon, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

One granddaughter and one great-granddaughter preceded her in death.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Corinth Cemetery, Linden.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday at Haaland Family Funeral Home and Nelson Murphy Chapel, Linden.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon.

McINTYRE

Viola Isabella McIntyre, 88, Camdenton, died May 14, 1999, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 20, 1910, in Rockford, Ill., a daughter of Carl H. and Isabella E. Schroeder Hendrickson. She was married May 1, 1929, in McHenry County, Ill., to William S. McIntyre, who died Feb. 27, 1973.

She had lived in the Lake area for the past 20 years and was Methodist.

Survivors include: one son, Stanley McIntyre, Denver, Colo.; one daughter, Gloria Landschoot, Jacksonville, Fla.; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Allee-Reed Funeral Home, Camdenton. The Rev. Ralph Hosman will officiate. Burial will be in Dale Blair Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Monday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

PLAISTED

Olga V. Plaisted, 75,  Jefferson City, died May 14, 1999, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.

She was born in Honduras, a daughter of Manuel and Virginia Cordova Romero. She was married in 1970 in Miami, Fla. to Paul Plaisted, who died in 1984.

Survivors include: one daughter, Ginny Owens,  Jefferson City; one son, Stanley Padgett, Honduras; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Private family services will be held.

Memorials are suggested to the Humane Society.

Arrangements are under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Directors --  Jefferson City Chapel.

NACY

James O. Nacy, 69,  Jefferson City, died May 13, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Sept. 14, 1929, at  Jefferson City, the son of Joseph P. and Thelma Tapp Nacy. He was married in August 1960 at  Jefferson City, to Betty K. Jose, who died Dec. 8, 1989.

He was a 1947 graduate of St. Peters School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was a deputy chief for the Lee's Summit Fire Department for 15 years before retiring in 1979. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Roy Sone Post 1003; the American Legion, Roscoe Enloe Post 5; the Missouri Firefighters Association; and the Missouri Fraud and Arson Investigators Association.

Survivors include: three sons, Ted Houx Jr., Camdenton, James Nacy II, Clayton, and Christopher J. Nacy,  Jefferson City; one daughter, Gay Houx Tillery,  Jefferson City; one brother, Joseph R. Nacy, Washington , D.C.; and two grandchildren.

A private family memorial will be held.

Memorials are suggested to The Christopher J. Nacy Scholarship Fund.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

MERTENS

Susan Marie Mertens, 30, Taos, died May 14, 1999, at the University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.

She was born Sept. 27, 1968, in  Jefferson City, a daughter of David and Esther Thessen Boeckman, who survive. She was married on Dec. 28, 1996 in Taos to Jeffrey E. Mertens, who survives at the home.

She was a 1986 graduate of Blair Oaks High School, and received a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education from Lincoln University in 1991. She received a master's degree in elementary education from LU in 1998. She was an elementary school teacher at St. Stanislaus Catholic School in Wardsville for the past four years. She previously taught at St. Joseph Catholic School in  Jefferson City. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Taos, where she sang in the church choir.

Other survivors include: one son, Cole Thomas Mertens, of the home; three brothers, Wayne Boeckman, Henley; Randy Boeckman, Wardsville; and Scott Boeckman, Taos; one sister, Peggy Neubert, Vienna.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, with the Revs. Kevin Clohessy and Michael Coleman officiating.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the St. Stanislaus School Hall in Wardsville, where a prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. A memorial mass for the St. Stanislaus School, community and family will be held at 7:50 a.m. Tuesday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Wardsville.

Memorials are suggested to the Cole Mertens Trust Fund, c/o Linn State Bank, Taos.

Arrangements are under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Directors.

EDWARDS

Rose K. Edwards, 84,  Jefferson City, died May 16, 1999, at  Jefferson City Manor.

She was born June 11, 1914, in  Jefferson City, a daughter of August and Mary Schaefer Kramer. She was married Dec. 16, 1954, to Steve H. Edwards, who died Feb. 21, 1979.

She attended St. Peter's High School and was employed by Emerson Electric, Small Arms Division, St. Louis. She owned and operated a cleaning shop in Kansas City, and was a bookkeeper for the nurses' assistants at St. John's Medical Center, Springfield, until her retirement in 1978.

She moved from Bolivar to  Jefferson City in 1986 and was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and the Western Catholic Union.

Survivors include: one brother, Cletus Kramer,  Jefferson City, and one sister, Margaret Schenewerk,  Jefferson City.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church. The Rev. Donald W. Lammers will officiate. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Greenwood Cemetery, Bolivar.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to a hospice of the donor's choice.
