SCHURICHT
Shirley Ann Schuricht, 67, Jefferson City, died June 4, 2001, at Jefferson City Manor Care Center.
She was born April 12, 1934, in St. Joseph, a daughter of Fred and Alice Gladden Seaman. She was married June 12, 1953, in Jefferson City, to James Schuricht, who survives at the home.
She graduated from Jefferson City Junior College. She worked for Busch's Florist, Pope's Drug Store and Charles E. Still Hospital.
Other survivors include one brother, Fred H. Seaman, Columbia.
Private family services will be Wednesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. John Hobratschk will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or Morris Animal Foundation of Chicago.
BATES
Mary A. Bates, 91, Stover, died June 5, 2001, at Golden Age Living Center, Stover.
She was born Feb. 1, 1910, in Camden County, a daughter of John and Bessie Tombs Cable. She was married March 1, 1930, in Versailles, to G.E. "Tobe" Bates, who survives at Golden Age Living Center.
During World War II, she worked at Tweedies Factory in Versailles. She worked in the housekeeping department at Golden Age Nursing Home for more than 20 years. She farmed in the Big Buffalo area.
Other survivors include: one son, Sterling Bates, Stover; two brothers, Fred Cable and Henry Cable, both of Stover; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Stover. The Rev. Russell Lucas and the Rev. Dinzel Webb will officiate. Burial will be in Big Buffalo Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials are suggested to Benton County Hospice or Golden Age Living Center.
THOMECZEK
Marcella Ann Thomeczek, 79, Linn, died June 5, 2001, at Green Meadows Health Care Center, Linn.
She was born Dec. 31, 1921, in Linn, a daughter of Frederick and Julia Bogler Rustemeyer. She was married April 29, 1944, in Linn, to M.F. Thomeczek, who died May 28, 1976.
A lifelong area resident, she was a homemaker. She was employed by Homemaker Home Health. She was a member of St. George Church, Linn, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include: seven sons, Mark Thomeczek, Marshall, Frank Thomeczek, Sioux City, Iowa, Steve Thomeczek, Columbia, Cliff Thomeczek, Lee Thomeczek and Matt Thomeczek, all of Linn, and Andy Thomeczek, Jefferson City; three daughters, Christy Brandt, Linn, Ellen Larson, Pretty Prairie, Kan., and Laura Holmes, Gladstone; three sisters, Dorothy Albrizzi, St. Louis, Freda Depillis, Amherst, Mass., and Mary Ellen Brandt, Linn; 23 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. George Church. The Rev. Paul Hartley will officiate. Burial will be in St. George Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Morton Funeral Home, Linn, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to St. George Church.
RAGAN
Geneva Ragan, 80, St. James, formerly of Vienna, died June 5, 2001, at Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla.
She was born Aug. 25, 1920, near Vienna, a daughter of Everett and Ada Franklin Ragan.
She was a school teacher in rural Maries County for four years, and the Missouri State School for the Blind for one year. She was a general clerical worker for 20 years until her retirement in 1977.
She moved to Vienna in 1980 and to St. James in 1991.
Survivors include: one daughter, Sandra Winkler, St. Peters; six brothers, Roy Ragan, Delmar Ragan, Russell Ragan and Robert Ragan, all of Vienna, and Claude Ragan and Clyde Ragan, both of St. Charles; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Union Hill Cemetery, Vienna. The Rev. Cellis Crum will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to the Union Hill Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Arrangements are under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.
PEMBERTON
Gladys Mae Pemberton, 98, Camdenton, died June 4, 2001, at Windsor Estates, Camdenton.
She was born Aug. 18, 1902, in Bonne Terre, a daughter of James and Carrie Bowers. She was married Sept. 4, 1920, to Clyde Pemberton, who died May 4, 1980.
A former resident of Stroud, Okla., she was a resident of the Lake area since 1931. She was a charter member of the Camdenton United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Dorothy Eidson, Camdenton; two granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton. The Rev. Marc Magana will officiate. Burial will be in Dale Blair Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Thursday.

BOWMAN
Freda Bowman, 74, Dixon, died June 4, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born Oct. 8, 1926, in Grandin, a daughter of Tolman and Sally Carter Cotton. She was married Aug. 3, 1943, in St. Louis, to Willard Merril Bowman, who died April 10, 1993.
A homemaker, she was employed for 10 years at the State School for the Handicapped. She was a member of High Point Church of God, Dixon.
Survivors include: three sons, Scott Bowman, Carrollton, and Leon Bowman and Gary Bowman, both of Dixon; two daughters, Bea Biddlingmeier, St. Charles, and Kim Bowman, Dixon; one brother, Arvil Cotton, Dixon; one sister, Cleta Pinnell, Ellsinore; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
One granddaughter preceded her in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon. The Rev. James Bailey will officiate. Burial will be in Dixon Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday and from 1-2 p.m. Friday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
STRUTTON
Eula Strutton, 78, Grove, Okla., formerly of Eldon, died June 3, 2001, in Grove.
She was born Dec. 24, 1922, in Arcadia, Kan., a daughter of Eleven C. and Ada Byrd DeGraffenreid. She was married Oct. 27, 1973, in Reno, Nev., to Dennis Strutton, who died June 24, 2000.
She was a meat wrapper.
Survivors include: one son, Larry Kee, Grove; one daughter, Wanda West, Susanville, Calif.; two stepsons, Dennis Wayne Strutton, Bentonville, Ark., and David Strutton, Phoenix; one stepdaughter, Debi Holmquist, Woodland, Calif.; four sisters, Beulah Shipley, Lois Robinett, Lila Robinett and Ila Faye Miller; three brothers, Ollen DeGraffenreid, Johnny DeGraffenreid and Stanley DeGraffenreid; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett. The Rev. Walter D. Simpson will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
HILL
Donald Eugene Hill, 74, Barnett, died June 5, 2001, in Barnett.
He was born Dec. 6, 1926, in Milo, a son of Lloyd and Rosa Lee Brakebill Hill. He was married June 30, 1947, in Polk County, to Sharon Marcella "Maracie" Sprague, who survives at the home.
He worked for the Shell Oil Company in oil fields.
A Navy veteran, he worked as a milk hauler and carpenter.
He was a dairy farmer for more than 20 years until his retirement in 1992.
He was a member of Walnut Ridge Missionary Baptist Church, Van.
Other survivors include: one son, David Bradley Hill, Kansas City; one daughter, Anne Marie Hill Graves, Tuscumbia; one brother, George Hill, San Luis Obispo, Calif.; one sister, Joyce Ankrom, Hermitage; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Delman Marriott and the Rev. Richard Wilhs will officiate. Burial will be in Schofield Cemetery, Buffalo.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday.
THOMAS
Hillary Jordan Thomas, 85, New Bloomfield, died June 5, 2001, at his home.
He was born Aug. 15, 1915, in Eldon, Iowa, a son of Grant L. and Amy Isabell Sedore Thomas. He was married Sept. 1, 1940, in Memphis, to Velma Irene Hudson, who died Dec. 4, 1998.
He was a member of the New Bloomfield Christian Church, XYZ Club and served as a city alderman in New Bloomfield. He farmed until 1960, at which time he began working for the Missouri Department of Corrections as an officer.
Survivors include: four sons, Edgar Thomas, Centralia, Kenneth Thomas and Dwain Thomas, both of Holts Summit, and Keith Thomas, New Bloomfield; two brothers, Albert Thomas, Eldon, Iowa, and Noah Thomas, Chicago; one sister, Lucille Kulzarick, Centerville, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Bloomfield Christian Church. The Rev. Roger Obermeier will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens, Jefferson City.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Debo Funeral Home, Holts Summit, and from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the church.
