SCHNEIDER

Bernard I. "Bernie" Schneider, 80,  Jefferson City, died June 22, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born July 31, 1920, in Koeltztown, a son of Leo and Cecelia Loehner Schneider. He was married Oct. 23, 1954, in  Jefferson City, to Evelyn Janet Roehrs, who preceded him in death Sept. 4, 1978.

He was employed as a parts and service manager for various auto dealers for 30 years. He also worked at Westlake's hardware store, and after retirement he was a self-employed wood and furniture repair specialist.

He was a U.S. Army Air Corps/Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion.

Survivors include: four sons, John B., David C., Paul E. and Chris F. Schneider, all of  Jefferson City; five grandchildren; and two brothers, Raymond Schneider, St. Louis, and Elmer Schneider, Freeburg.

Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Catholic Church. The Rev. Donald W. Lammers will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Peter Catholic Church Building Fund.

KUESTER

Helen Raithel Kuester, 82, California, died June 21, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born Sept. 10, 1918, in Millbrook, a daughter of Theodore and Clara Knerschield Raithel. She was married Nov. 10, 1946, to Paul Kuester, who survives at the home.

She was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in California, the Ladies Aid Society and the Lutheran Womens Missionary League.

Other survivors include: one son, Ken Kuester, Jacksonville, Fla.; one daughter, Ruth Riney, St. Louis; one brother, Harold Raithel, St. Martins; two sisters, Marie Coulter,  Jefferson City, and Ruth Powell, California; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. Peter Kurowski will officiate. Helen Raithel Kuester will be buried in St. Paul's Cemetery in California.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today and noon-2 p.m. Sunday, both at the church.

Memorials are suggested to St. Pauls Lutheran Radio Ministry, 207 N. Owens St., California, Mo. 65018.

Arrangements are under the direction of Weber and Sons Funeral Home.

BERHORST

Georgia C. Berhorst, 60, Linn, died June 20, 2001, at Boone Hospital, Columbia.

She was born Nov. 26, 1940, in Cole County, a daughter of Clem A. Sr. and Mathilda Grafe Veit. She was married Oct. 4, 1958, in Folk, to John F. Berhorst Sr., who survives at the home.

A lifelong Central Missouri resident, she attended school in Folk.

She was a member of St. George Church, Linn, and St. Ann's Sodality.

A homemaker, she was employed at the Linn Shoe Store.

Other survivors include: five sons, John Berhorst Jr., Centertown, Gary Berhorst, Mike Berhorst and Mark Berhorst, all of Linn, and Russell Berhorst,  Jefferson City; two daughters, Sharon Nilges and Linda Stieferman, both of Linn; three brothers, Charles Veit, Clem Veit Jr. and Harold Veit, all of Folk; four sisters, Dorothy Veit, Westphalia, Evelyn Struemph, St. Elizabeth, Delphine Wolken, Taos, and Rose Kempker, Folk; and 19 grandchildren.

One grandson preceded her in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. George Church, Linn. The Rev. Paul Hartley will officiate. Burial will be in St. George Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Morton Funeral Home, Linn, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or St. George Church.

HARTMAN

Coly Hartman, 78, Freeburg, died June 23, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born June 20, 1923, in Freeburg, a son of Stephen and Elizabeth Haller Hartman. He was married Dec. 14, 1946, in St. Louis, to Flossie Lea Branson, who survives in Freeburg.

He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and the Lions Club, both in Freeburg. He retired in 1985 after 30 years as a supervisor of a catering company in St. Louis.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Mary Kottwitz, Bland, Carol Pryor, Vienna; one brother, Raymond Hartman, O'Fallon; two sisters, Tillie Laubert, LoMita, Calif., and Alice Schwab, Freeburg; and two grandchildren.

An infant daughter preceded her in death and one daughter, Elizabeth Louise Neuman, died in September 1991.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg. The Rev. Mike Murphy will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and from 9-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.

HOOSE

Doug S. Hoose, 40, Fulton, died June 19, 2001, at University Hospitals and Clinics, Columbia.

He was born Nov. 18, 1960, in Huntington Park, Calif., a son of Jerry Hoose, who survives in  Jefferson City, and Virginia Romine who survives in Iowa. He was married Aug. 9, 2000, to Dorothy Matero, who survives.

He was a member of Carrington Baptist Church.

Other survivors include: four children, Jessica, Scottie, Alexandra and Wendy Hoose, all of California; and one brother, Jerry Wayne Hoose.

Services are 3 p.m. Monday at Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. Weldon Forman will officiate. Burial will be in Carrington Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Monday from 1 p.m. until time of service.

OHLRICH

Ernestine G. Ohlrich, 80, Gravois Mills, died June 23, 2001, at her home.

She was born Sept. 12, 1920, in Sedalia, a daughter of George and Grace Burns Dietzman. She was married Dec. 3, 1938, in Lexington, to Edgar W. "Eg" Ohlrich, who survives at home.

She lived in Kansas City for several years and worked for the U.S. Campbell Company. She moved to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1955, owned and operated the Gravois Cafe and later operated restaurants at Wulff Harbor, Millstone and Rock Harbor.

She was a member of Kent Memorial Lutheran Church, Sunrise Beach, and a charter member of the Gravois Mills Business and Professional Club.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie. The Rev. Eugene A. Moll will officiate. Burial will be in Garber Memorial Estates Cemetery, Laurie.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Kent Memorial Lutheran Church, Sunrise Beach, Mo.

SNELL

Nettie T. Snell, 94, Tipton, died June 22, 2001, at Fitzgibbon Hospital, Marshall.

She was born March 2, 1907, in Mendon, Ill., a daughter of Benjamin J. and Minnie C. Evans Brenner. She was married May 12, 1935, to Virgil Snell, who died Nov. 3, 1982.

She was a graduate of the University of Missouri. She taught in public elementary school for 34 years in Lewistown, Jamestown and Tipton. She taught seven years at St. Andrew's Catholic School, Tipton.

She was active in the Garden Club, Tipton.

Survivors include: two sons, Kenneth Snell, Castro Valley, Calif., and Don Snell, Marshall; one sister, Marjorie Cox, Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Wilbur Brenner and Arthur Brenner, both of Lewistown; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton. The Rev. Don Simmons will officiate. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Tipton.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to the Tipton Garden Club.

STROBEL

Lawrence E. Strobel, 73, California, died June 24, 2001, at his home.

He was born May 6, 1928, in Russellville, a son of Herman and Elizabeth Heinrich Strobel. He was married Sept. 4, 1954, in California, to Esther Bleich, who survives at the home.

He attended Mt. Hope School, near Russellville. He was a mechanic for the Ford dealerships in  Jefferson City for 13 years, and a farmer in the California and Centertown communities.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church,  Jefferson City; a lifetime member of Centertown American Legion Post 531; and was a sergeant of arms.

Other survivors include: three sons, Lawrence Dale Strobel, Centertown, and David Strobel and Wayne Strobel, both of California; two brothers, Robert Strobel and Herbert Strobel, both of Russellville; four sisters, Loretta Roark,  Jefferson City, Edna Goldammer, Lohman, Francis Jasper, Tennessee, and Meleda Princitato, St. Louis; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church,  Jefferson City. The Rev. Jerome Brownlee will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be in Hawthorn Memorial Garden.

Visitation will be from 5:30-8 p.m. Monday at Weber and Sons Funeral Home, California.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the Centertown American Legion Post 531, Centertown, Mo.

JORDAN

Wilbur L. Jordan, 80,  Jefferson City, died June 23, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born March 5, 1921, in New Bloomfield, a son of Rupert and Hattie Elizabeth Jones Jordan. He was married Feb. 8, 1942, in Fulton, to Jean Peeper, who survives at the home.

He graduated from New Bloomfield High School in 1940. He worked for the Missouri Department of Corrections as a corrections officer for 25 years before retiring in 1982. He was a past member of the Good Sam Club and was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons.

Other survivors include one daughter, Lois Gilmore, Ashland, one grandson and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. John Kerr will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
