CONARD

Evelyn M. Conard, 84, Independence, died July 16, 2001, at Western Missouri Medical Center.

She was born March 21, 1917, in Lohman, a daughter of John J. and Cynthia Glover Scheperle. She was married to Glenn Conard, who preceded her in death.

She taught second grade in the Raytown School District for 23 years.

She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church, Independence.

Survivors include: one son, Richard Conard, Independence; one sister, Ruby Bernthal, Concordia; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Ascension Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Sheil Colonial Funeral Home, Independence.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, or Ascension Lutheran Church.

DULLE

Edward H. "Hans" Dulle Jr., 87,  Jefferson City, died July 18, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Sept. 11, 1913, in  Jefferson City, a son of Edward H. Sr. and Mayme C. Zuber Dulle.

He was in the first class to graduate from St. Peter's High School and he attended  Jefferson City Junior College. He traveled with the Clyde Beatty Railroad Circus and the Mills Bros. Circus. He worked at Oberman for 17 years. He then owned and operated The Hans Dulle Clothing Co. for 12 years. He also worked at Montgomery Ward.

He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and the church Ushers Guild, the Circus Fans Association of America and the Circus Historical Society. He had articles published in The White Top and had circus memorabilia exhibited in Columbia and  Jefferson City.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph S. Corel will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a rosary at 7:15 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Peter Building Fund.

FRANK

Services were Tuesday for William Emmett "Bill" Frank, 73, Hazelwood, who died July 13, 2001, at St. John's Mercy Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 18, 1927, a son of Louis and Margaret Henke Frank. He was married Jan. 7, 1951, to Joan Koerber, who survives at the home.

An Army veteran, he owned and operated Frank's Barber Shop, Florissant, until his retirement.

Other survivors include: one son, Stanley Frank, state of Missouri; one daughter, Sharon Frank, state of Missouri; and two brothers, Elmer Frank, Wardsville, and Edgar Frank, Linn.

One daughter, Betty Jo Frank, preceded him in death.

Services were at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church. Entombment was in Sacred Heart Mausoleum.

Memorials are suggested to St. Vincent DePaul Society, 4141 Forest Park, St. Louis, Mo. 63108.

Arrangements were under the direction of Hutchens Mortuary, Florissant.

HAZELL

Durwood Hazell, 85, Ashland, died July 18, 2001, at Ashland Healthcare.

He was born Aug. 6, 1915 in Boone County, a son of Delbert and Ocie Glascock Hazell. He was married Dec. 24, 1936, in Ashland, to Audrey Nichols, who died Aug. 25, 2000.

He was a member of Goshen Primitive Baptist Church, Hartsburg, and a member of the Southern Boone County Senior Center, Ashland.

He worked as a heavy equipment operator at Daniels Power Plant, Fulton.

He retired after 50 years with Union 513, St. Louis.

Survivors include: one son, Lloyd Hazell, New Franklin; one sister, Helen Allman, Fort Meyers, Fla.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four great great-grandchildren.

One son, Everett Hazell, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Robinson Funeral Home, Ashland. The Rev. Mike Quinn will officiate. Burial will be in New Liberty Cemetery, Ashland.

Visitation will be at 10-11 a.m. Saturday.

Memorials are suggested to Southern Boone County Senior Center, 406 Douglas, Ashland, 65010.

KERSCHEN

Virginia Kerschen, 87, Hereford, Texas , died July 16, 2001, at Westgate Nursing Home.

She was born May 4, 1914, in Columbia, a daughter of Albert and Cora Mae Prewitt Thomas. She was married Sept. 8, 1940, in Hugo, Colo., to Ray Kerschen, who survives at the home.

She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Janet Phillips, Granada Hills, Calif., and Janice Buchhaim, Medina, Ohio; two sons, John Kerschen, Colorado Springs, Colo., and James Kerschen, Wilmington, Del.; three sisters, Beverly Jesko, Hereford, Wilma Hoff, Laguna Beach, Calif., and Doris Rahm, Sun City, Calif.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Andrews Catholic Cemetery, Tipton.

Visitation will be Friday evening at Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton, with a rosary at 7 p.m.

PERRIGO

Opal May Perrigo, 91, Paris, died July 18, 2001, at Monroe Manor Nursing Home, Paris.

She was born April 18, 1910, in Monroe County, a daughter of Arthur and Myrtel May Palister Blackwell She was married March 25, 1931, in Moberly, to George Lowell Perrigo, who died April 20, 1966.

A former resident of Santa Fe, she was a member of Santa Fe Christian Church.

She worked as a housekeeper and secretary.

Survivors include: one son, Ray Perrigo, Holts Summit; four daughters, Ruth Scott and Jolene Gilltrap, both of Mexico, Betty Hontz, Union Star, and Joyce Young, Eagle Point, Ore.; two brothers, Calvin Blackwell and Orie Blackwell, both of the state of Oregon; four sisters, Jessie VanEpps, Frances Davis, Alice Keenan and Rosina Nixon, all of the state of Oregon; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bienhoff Funeral Home, Perry. Burial will be in Santa Fe Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday.

Memorials are suggested to Santa Fe Christian Church or the Santa Fe Cemetery.

ROSE

Frances M. Barnthouse Rose, 87, Kansas City, died July 17, 2001, at Kansas City Care and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born June 2, 1914, in Pittsburg, Kan., a daughter of Edwin R. and Laura Gertrude Franz Barnthouse. She was married May 3, 1943, in Lawrence Kan., to Harold W. Rose, who preceded her in death.

She graduated from St. Peters High,  Jefferson City, and attended St. Elizabeth Academy, St. Louis. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Parish, Kansas City.

She worked for the federal government with the Treasury Department in  Jefferson City from 1932 until moving to the Kansas City office in 1937.

She also worked with the General Services Administration in Kansas City.

She served as a finance officer and administrative assistant until her retirement in 1967.

Survivors include two brothers, Edwin R. Barnthouse Jr., Kansas City, and William R. Barnthouse,  Jefferson City.

Entombment and a prayer service will be at noon Friday in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. The Rev. Frederick Elskamp will officiate.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Muehlebach Funeral Home, Kansas City, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Masses or a charity of the donor's choice.

SMITH

Services were June 25, 2001, for Ed J. Smith, 99, Pueblo, Colo., who died June 18, 2001, at University Park Care Center, Pueblo.

He was born Sept. 10, 1901, in Tipton, Kan., a son of John and Barbara Smith. He was married in 1923 to Margaret Bayer, who preceded him in death.

He earned a bachelor of science degree from Fort Hayes College and a master's degree from Colorado College. He was a football coach and a teacher in Kansas and Colorado. He was an administrator with the schools in Pueblo.

Survivors include: one son, Dr. James E. Smith, Pueblo; one daughter, Virginia Walker, Pueblo; two sisters, Viola Smith and Isabel Jacobsen, both of  Jefferson City; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

One son, Dr. Dean Smith, preceded him in death.

Services were at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.

Arrangements were under the direction of George McCarthy Funeral Home, Pueblo.

HOWSER

Rose M. Howser, 68, Rocky Mount, died July 18, 2001, in Rocky Mount.

She was born May 30, 1933, in Barnett, a daughter of John E. and Hattie Opal McCassland Calton. She was married Jan. 8, 1952, in Eldon, to Clarence O. Howser, who survives at the home.

A homemaker, she was a lifetime resident of Rocky Mount. She worked at Fasco, Eldon.

Other survivors include: four sons, Bill Howser, Barnett, Bobby G. Howser and Jonathan P. Howser, both of Rocky Mount, and James O. Howser, Eldon; two daughters, Rose Marie Arnold and Mary E. Reed, both of Rocky Mount; three brothers, Aubrey Calton, Warsaw, and Jimmy Calton and Lonnie Calton, both of Eldon; four sisters, Elsie Tryon, Anna Wells and Alice Calton, all of Eldon, and Broox Sullins,  Jefferson City; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Gene Cain will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Rocky Mount.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday.

Memorials are suggested in care of the family.
