BASCOM

Ralph C. Bascom, 88, Morrison, died July 17, 2001, at Green Meadows Nursing Home, Linn.

He was born Jan. 23, 1913, in Morrison, a son of Everett and Augusta Jackisch Bascom. He was married Dec. 24, 1936, in Hermann, to Johnie Mae Kemple, who survives in Morrison.

He was a welder for the Army Corps of Engineers.

Other survivors include: two sons, Ralph D. Bascom, Marshall, and Donald Bascom, El Paso, Texas ; two daughters, Linda Overkamp, Westmoreland, Kan., and Susan Kuebler, Morrison; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Toedtmann and Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann. The Rev. Don King will officiate. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery, Morrison.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Good Hope Cemetery, Morrison.

CRAVEN

Helen Shanks Craven, 91, Eldon, died July 19, 2001, at Eldon Healthcare.

She was born Nov. 29, 1909, in Kearney, a daughter of George M. and Ida O. Britton. She was married Dec. 31, 1932, to Lloyd B. Shanks, who died Nov. 8, 1947. She was married June 13, 1954, to Fred C. Craven, who died Feb. 14, 1992.

She worked at National Bank of North Kansas City and was a member of North Kansas City Baptist Church for 47 years.

Survivors include: two daughters, Linda Tetley,  Jefferson City, and Patty L. Richards, Phoenix, Ariz.; two grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at White Chapel Funeral Home, Gladstone. The Rev. Kenneth Craven will officiate. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association; or to the North Kansas City Baptist Church Building Fund, 2205 Iron, North Kansas City, Mo. 64116.

ELDRED

George M. Eldred, 83, Camdenton, died July 19, 2001, at Ozark Care Center.

He was born Oct. 5, 1917, a son of Ray and Alda Eldred. He was married to Margaret Eldred, who survives at the home.

He attended Macks Creek High School and Southwest Missouri State University on an athletic scholarship. He received a master's of education degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and received the Purple Heart. He worked for Camden County public schools for more than 40 years. He taught at Hazel Valley, Macks Creek and Linn Creek. He also coached basketball at Macks Creek; and was principal of Camdenton Elementary School for 30 years. He retired in 1984.

He was a member, Sunday school teacher and deacon at First Baptist Church of Camdenton. He was a member of the Rotary Club.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Mary Brant, Minneapolis; one son, George N. Eldred, Carbondale, Colo.; one sister, Betty June Howard, Roach; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Camdenton. Burial will be in Macks Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton.

Memorials are suggested to Lake Regional Foundation Cancer Treatment Center Fund.

HAINEN

Elizabeth C. Hainen, 88, Tipton, died July 19, 2001, at Tipton Manor.

She was born Sept. 20, 1912, in Tipton, a daughter of Oscar and Rose Sommerhauser Faherty. She was married Sept. 10, 1932, in Tipton, to Norman J. Hainen, who died Feb. 6, 1979.

She was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Tipton, and St. Andrew's Altar Society. She worked as a seamstress at Tipton Manufacturing, Weber Shoe Company and in her home.

Survivors include: four sons, Al Hainen, Blue Springs, Ed Hainen, Independence, Phil Hainen, St. Albans, W. Va., and Tim Hainen,  Jefferson City; three daughters, Kathleen Miller, Tipton, Rosemarie Campbell,  Jefferson City, and Norma McBeath, Tacoma, Wash.; three brothers, Ed Faherty, Eldon, Frank Faherty, Enumclaw, Wash., and Justin Faherty, Lubbock, Texas ; one sister, Estelle Krohn, Independence; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Two sons, Theodore Hainen and Paul Hainen, and one grandson preceded her in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church. The Rev. Henry Reichert will officiate. Burial will be in St. Andrew's Cemetery, Tipton.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton, with a rosary at 3 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill.

HALDIMAN

Ruby Louise Haldiman, 71, Aldrich, formerly of California, died July 18, 2001, at her home.

She was born June 13, 1930, in Olean, a daughter of Willard A. and Letha Lucille Ackers Laue. She was married Aug. 14, 1949, in California to Richard W. Haldiman, who survives at the home.

She was a 1946 graduate of California High School. She worked for the Civil Service-Wage and Hour Division for the federal government, retiring in 1992.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Dadeville, where she was a volunteer, and a former member of First Baptist Church, Raytown. She was also a member of the Lake Stockton Square Dance Club.

Other survivors include: two sons: Mark Haldiman, Clinton, and Mike Haldiman, Strafford; two brothers, Bill Laue, Crane, and Bob Laue, Christiansburg, Va.; two sisters, Arlene Vaughan, Olathe, Kan., and Betty Crawford, Belleville, Ill.; and five grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California. The Rev. Gary Schulte will officiate. Burial will be in California City Cemetery.

Visitation will be 12:30-2 p.m. Saturday.

Memorials are suggested to the Leukemia Society of America, Mid-America Chapter, 6811 W. 63rd St., Suite 202, Shawnee Mission, Kan., 66202.

MANN

Bruce T. Mann, 81, Lake Ozark, died July 19, 2001, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach.

He was born Aug. 11, 1919, in St. Louis, a son of John and Mabel Matthews Mann. He was married March 6, 1945, in St. Louis, to Ruby Halbert, who survives at the home.

He owned and operated Red Deer Resort, Lake Ozark, for 31 years. He also owned Lake Ozark Concrete Company, Osage Beach. He was a general contractor, realtor and fishing guide. He worked for the Globe Democrat for 17 years as a district manager in St. Louis.

An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he was a member of Masonic Lodge 152, Linn Creek; Abou Ben Adhem Shriner, Lake Ozark; and Lake Ozark Bass Club and Ducks Unlimited.

Other survivors include one daughter, Chris Livek, Lake Ozark, and two granddaughters.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach. Burial with military honors will be in Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today with Masonic services at 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospital for children or the Bruce Mann Memorial Fund.

TURNER

James M. Turner, 56, Sunrise Beach, died July 18, 2001, at his home.

He was born Sept. 4, 1944, in Johnson County, Kan., a son of William M. and Virginia Keister Turner. He was married Dec. 11, 2001, in Grandview, to Kathy Fraser, who survives at the home.

He owned and operated Willow Wood Farm Landscape Nursery, Raymore.

Other survivors include: one son, Chad Turner, Sunrise Beach; one daughter, Courtenay Nilges, Sunrise Beach; one sister, Judy Southern, Belton; and one grandchild.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach. The Rev. Kerry Presnell will officiate. Entombment will be in Praying Hands Mausoleum Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Osage Beach.

Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Saturday.

Memorials are suggested to the family, c/o Courtenay Nilges, P.O. Box 534, Sunrise Beach, Mo. 65079.

HAGENHOFF

William L. "Bill" Hagenhoff, 74, Rolla, died July 18, 2001, at his home.

He was born Sept. 8, 1926, in  Jefferson City, a son of Joseph and Wilhelmina Wieberg Hagenhoff. He was married June 14, 1949, to Catherine Tappel, who survives at the home.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the VFW Post 2025.

Other survivors include: eight sons, Stephen Hagenhoff, Fairgrove, Jerome Hagenhoff, Centertown, William A. Hagenhoff, Chamois, Elmer Hagenhoff, Amarillo, Texas , Richard Hagenhoff, Springfield, Marvin Hagenhoff, St. James, Kenneth Hagenhoff and Dale Hagenhoff, both of Rolla; two daughters, Rosanna Brown, Rolla, and Beverly Afshar-Backesloo, Columbia; one brother, Victor Hagenhoff,  Jefferson City; 14 grandchildren, four step grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and six step great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Rolla. Fr. John Schmitz will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Ozark Memorials Gardens Cemetery, Rolla.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are under the direction of Null and Son Funeral Home, Rolla.

JAMES-SMITH

Ruby James-Smith, 90, Barnett, died July 19, 2001, in  Jefferson City.

She was born March 6, 1911, in Brazito, a daughter of Thomas H. and Nannie Malinda Brown Taylor. She was married Feb. 20, 1929, in Tuscumbia, to Ronald E. James, who died Jan. 19, 1985. She was married March 16, 1989, to Roy Smith, who survives at the home.

A homemaker, she was a member of the Aurora Springs Baptist Church, Eldon.

Other survivors include: six daughters, Maxine Stoner, Kansas City, Kan., Irene Brown, Barnett, Shirley Alford, Marble Fall, Texas , Malinda James,  Jefferson City, Karon Booth, Swansboro, N.C., and Sharon James, Eldon; one sister, Irene Fleming, Laurie; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

One grandson preceded her in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Aurora Springs Baptist Church, Eldon. The Rev. Bob Stevenson and the Rev. Ernie Busher will officiate. Burial will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

Memorials are suggested to Aurora Springs Baptist Church, Eldon.
