PRITCHARD
Ralph F. Pritchard, 93, California, died May 19, 1999, at Moniteau Care Center, California.
He was born Jan. 5, 1906, in Camden County, a son of William F. and Mary Slavins Pritchard. He was married April 6, 1940, in Camden County, to Mable Newberry, who died in 1981.
He was employed for 27 years with MFA, California. He was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include: three sons, Franklin Pritchard, California, Charles Pritchard, Jefferson City, and Russell Pritchard, Reeds Spring; two daughters, Ruth Ann Tailor, Sedalia, and Lucille Hentges, Holts Summit; one sister, Iva Williams, state of California; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Two children preceded him in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Weber and Sons Funeral Home, California. The Rev. Kenneth Mathes will officiate. Burial will be in Centertown Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
BLUME
William J. Blume, 71, Indianapolis, formerly of Jefferson City, died May 19, 1999, at Community Hospital East, Indianapolis.
He was born Aug. 27, 1927, in Jefferson City, a son of Clarence and Edith Blume. He was married to Sarah F. Dowling, who survives at the home.
A graduate of St. Louis University, he was an estimator for Ryerson Steel Co. for 36 years. He retired in 1991. He was a Navy veteran and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Indianapolis, and Fatima Council Knights of Columbus.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Laura F. Daniels, Indianapolis; one son, Christopher J. Blume, Chicago; one sister, Virginia Rackers, Jefferson City; two brothers, Clarence Blume, Jefferson City and Fred Blume, San Diego and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Moore and Kirk Funeral Home, Indianapolis, and at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Indianapolis.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today, with a rosary at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or Our Lady of Lourdes School.
BOTTOMS
Hayden Meredith Bottoms, 86, Prairie Home, died May 20, 1999, at Cooper County Memorial Hospital, Boonville.
He was born Sept. 4, 1912, in Cooper County, a son of Oliver F. and Hattie Belle Adair Bottoms. He was married Aug. 21, 1935, to Agnes Virginia Wingate, who survives at Riverdell Care Center, Boonville.
A graduate of Prairie Home High School, he was a truck driver. He owned and operated service stations and was a bus driver for the Prairie Home School District. He was a member of Prairie Home Baptist Church.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Shirley Lucas, Prairie Home, and Becky Weston, Columbia; one son, Larry Bottoms, Jefferson City; two sisters, Frances Smothers and Wanda Agnew, both of New Franklin; three brothers, William S. Bottoms, Billings, Mont., Don C. Bottoms, Leavenworth, Kan., and Harry Truman Bottoms, Marlton, N.J.; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one foster grandchild; two foster great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren and three step great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Prairie Home Baptist Church. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Hornbeck-Thacher Funeral Home, Prairie Home.
Memorials are suggested to Prairie Home Baptist Church.
MAGRUDER
Elizabeth S. Magruder, 94, Carrollton, died May 20, 1999, at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton.
She was born May 5, 1905, in Sanger, Texas , a daughter of Joe and Ada Frances King Forbes. She was married Sept. 5, 1923, in Moberly, to Lemuel B. Magruder, who died March 10, 1977.
She attended school in Armstrong and worked as a seamstress. She was a member of Carrollton First Baptist Church and Rebekah Lodge.
Survivors include: two daughters, Edna Frances Willis and Sarah Ellen Basnett, both of Jefferson City; one son, James Lemuel Magruder, Carrollton; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter and three grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Carroll Memory Gardens, Carrollton. The Rev. Ron Marsh will officiate.
Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. today at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
SOKOLOWSKI
Ernest Sokolowski, 59, Chamois, died May 20, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born June 10, 1939, in Ruda, Poland, a son of Frederick and Lydia Sokolowski. He was married July 12, 1969, in Leasburg, to Linda West, who survives at the home.
A graduate of Linn State Technical College, he was a machinist at Jefferson City Manufacturing Co. He was a member of the Chamois Lions Club and St. John's United Church of Christ, Chamois, where he served on the church council.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Sheri Neninnger, Linn, and Mary Sokolowski, Jefferson City; one son, Michael Ernest Sokolowski, Chamois; four brothers, Herman Sokolowski and Otto Sokolowski, both of Advance, Adolf Sokolowski, Jackson, and Eric Sokolowski, Anaheim, Calif.; two sisters, Natalie Herspiegel, Hillsboro, and Ericka Tiedtke, Anaheim; and two grandsons.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. John's United Church of Christ. The Rev. Don Deeker will officiate. Graveside services will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at Lea Cemetery, Leasburg.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Saturday at Meyer-Hilke-Millard Funeral Home, Chamois.
Memorials are suggested to St. John's United Church of Christ or the Chamois Lions Club.
STICKLEY
William F. Stickley, 83, Jefferson City, died May 20, 1999, at Jefferson City Manor Care Center.
He was born Jan. 20. 1916, in Kansas City, a son of Herman and Pearl Farris Stickley. He was married Oct. 15, 1933, in Bailey Town, to Madeline Scrivner, who died Oct. 27, 1971.
He was a member of Bailey Chapel, Bailey Town.
Survivors include: three sons, Paul Franklin Stickley, Nixa, William Michael Stickley, Forsyth, and Robert Kent Stickley, Jefferson City; and four daughters, Vivion Kay Schulte, Jefferson City, Mary Evelyn Lyons, Laport City, Iowa, Carole Jean Bloomfield, Lebanon, and Lisa Ann Graham, Wardsville.
Two sons, Jerry Richard Stickley and Freddie Lane Stickley, preceded him in death.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Plad Cemetery. The Rev. Tommy West will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Sunday at Mossman and Hess Chapel, Eldon.
COLVIN
Katherine A. Colvin, 71, Jefferson City, died May 21, 1999, at her home.
She was born Dec. 7, 1927, in Jefferson City, a daughter of Edward and Eunice Bailey Connell. She was married Aug. 4, 1945, in Jefferson City, to George William Colvin, who died Dec. 10, 1994.
She was employed for several years as a nurses aide at St. Marys Health Center. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.
Survivors include: three daughters, Joyce Snellen, New York City, Carolyn Dieckmann, Fayette, and Jo Ann Crowley, Tebbetts; one sister, Edna Mae Turner, Russellville; three brothers, Bill Connell, Centertown, and Herschel Connell and Carles Connell, both of Jefferson City; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. The Rev. Gregory L. Higley will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Central Missouri Kidney Association.
ALSIN
Ronald C. Alsin, 67, Osage Beach, died May 20, 1999, at his home.
He was born Oct. 23, 1931, in Des Moines, Iowa, a son of Ralph and Lillian Martens Alsin. He was married May 7, 1955, in Des Moines, to Mary Lou Jeter, who survives at the home.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, he lived in the Lake area for the past 22 years. He owned and operated Bowling Electric Machinery Inc. in Camdenton.
He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Camdenton; the Lions Club; and the Camdenton Area Chamber of Commerce.
Other survivors include: one son, Timothy C. Alsin, Shawnee, Kan.; one daughter, Deborah L. Wiles, Linn Creek; one brother, Harold D. Alsin, Grand Junction, Colo.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. The Rev. John Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Laughlin Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Allee-Reed Funeral Home, Camdenton.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association or the Our Savior's Lutheran Church Building Fund.
HOUSER
Judge Norwin D. Houser, 90, Jefferson City, died May 21, 1999, at his home.
He was born Oct. 21, 1908, in Flat River, a son of Herman J. and Bessie Norwine Houser. He was married Dec. 9, 1937, to Frances V. Houck, who preceded him in death.
A graduate of the University of Missouri (AB, LLB), he was admitted to the Missouri Bar in 1931, and practiced law in Kansas City and Perryville.
He served as Judge of the 27th Judicial Circuit for nine years until his appointment as Commissioner of the St. Louis Court of Appeals. In 1959, he was appointed as a Commissioner of the Supreme Court of Missouri, and remained on the court until retirement, having served in the state judiciary for 37 years.
He authored more than 700 published judicial opinions handed down by the appellate courts of Missouri. He chaired the Committee for a Modern Criminal Code in Missouri from 1969 to 1973 and co-authored the Missouri Approved Criminal Instructions to accompany the new Criminal Code in 1979.
He was chair of the Missouri War Chest from 1944 to 1945, an elder in the Presbyterian churches of Perryville and Kirkwood, president of the Missouri Law School Foundation from 1954 to 1955, a member of the Order of the Coif and Phi Delta Phi law fraternity, as well as being a Shriner, 32nd degree Mason and Rotarian.
Survivors include: one son, John C. Houser, St. Louis; one daughter, Elizabeth H. Gibbs, Columbia; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
A private service for the immediate family is planned. The Rev. R.W. Beard will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to the Missouri River Hospice of Jefferson City, First Presbyterian Church of Jefferson City, or Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, St. Louis unit.
