MERLO
Jerry Merlo Sr., 60, Lake Ozark, died July 20, 2001, at Lake Ozark.
He was born May 6, 1941, in St. Louis, a son of Dino B. and Ann Meyer Merlo. He was married Feb. 6, 1965, in St. Louis, to Marilyn Winters, who survives at the home.
He owned and operated a waste water treatment business. A resident of the Lake area since 1971, he was a maintenance engineer at the Lodge of the Four Seasons for 28 years. A Navy veteran, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.
Other survivors include: one son, Gerald Joseph Merlo Jr., St. Louis; one daughter, Jennifer Reynolds, Troy; one sister, Adelaide Merlo, Seattle, Wash.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Lake Ozark. The Rev. Michael Wilbers will officiate. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Resurrection Cemetery, St. Louis.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

BITTICK
Brenda Lee Bittick, 57, Centertown, died July 19, 2001, at the home.
She was born June 8, 1944, in Jefferson City and raised by Jim and Mary Hill. She was married April 8, 1961, in Jefferson City, to James "Jim" O. Bittick, who died March 8, 2001.
She was a receiving clerk at Bass Pro for 10 years and later worked as a waitress at Johnny's Butcher Shop until October 1999. She was a member of St. Martins Catholic Church, in St. Martins, and attended a country school near Jefferson City.
Survivors include: three sons, Kenneth Bittick, Springfield, Robert Bittick, Centertown, and Michael Bittick, Jefferson City; one daughter, Tanoah Arbuckle, Tremont, Mississippi; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna and Frances; one brother, Lawrence; and two grandchildren, Hope and Kenneth Wayne Bittick.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Martins Catholic Church. The Rev. Edwin Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be in St. Martins Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services in California.

STUART
Erma Henrietta Stuart, 90, Jefferson City, died July 20, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 13, 1910, in Jefferson City, a daughter of Henry L. and Catherine Mary Hemmel Wengert. She was married in June 1930, in Union, to Roy H. Fincher, who died in January 1962. She was married in November 1948, in Jefferson City, to Martin H. Stuart, who died Sept. 1, 1967.
She attended Immaculate Conception Church School, and was a graduate of Jefferson City High School. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; St. Ann's Sodality of the church; the Moose Lodge Auxiliary; and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Auxiliary.
A homemaker, she worked at Tweedies Footwear Corporation and the F.W. Woolworth's Five and Dime Store.
Survivors include: one daughter, Irene M. Stone, New Bloomfield; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Buescher Memorial Home. The Rev. Tim Tatro will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
WINCHELL
The Rev. Edward Winchell, 90, Stover, died July 20, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.
Arrangements are incomplete at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Stover.
LaBRANT
Gertrude "Pat" Featherstone LaBrant, 90, Versailles, died July 19, 2001, at the Carson-Tahoe Hospital in Carson City, Nevada.
She was born May 19, 1911, in Osage, Missouri, a daughter of the late Thomas C. and Mildred Emma Hamilton Baker. She was married to Harry Featherstone, who preceded her in death. She was married June 15, 1964, in Butler, to Wilson "Bill" LaBrant, who died Dec. 18, 1976.
She co-owned, with other family members, Knobtown Liquors in Kansas City for many years before moving to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1962. She owned Pat's Cafe at the Ke-Jo Camp at the Lake before moving to Versailles. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Rolling Hills Country Club in Versailles.
Survivors include one granddaughter, Tina Featherstone Slope of Carson City, Nevada.
She was preceded in death by one son, Harry Estel Featherstone, Jr.; three brothers, Everet Baker, Jim Baker, and William Baker; and three sisters, Altha Wilde, Norma Lee Baker and Betty Blevens.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles with the Rev. Gailya Dow officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Floral Hills Cemetery in Kansas City.
Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Tuesday at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
MEYER
Gene E. Meyer, 82, Sullivan, died July 20, 2001, in Washington .
He was born Jan. 8, 1919, in Bay, a son of Edward and Amanda Schneider Meyer. He was married Feb. 14, 1975, in Sullivan, to Mary Mayberry, who survives at the home.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Suzette Rogers, Branson; two stepsons, Keith Heifner, Parma, Mich., and James Heifner, Farmington, N. M.; two sisters, Eunice Dannaldson, Kansas City, and Gladys Price, Jefferson City; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church, Sullivan. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. today at Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan.
Memorials are suggested to Grace United Methodist Church.
PENNINGTON
Hazel Flo Pennington, 89, Marion, died July 20, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born July 4, 1912, in Marion, a daughter of Jake Eldon and Effie Steely Taggart. She was married July 2, 1932, in Jefferson City to Earl Pennington, who preceded her in death.
She owned and operated the Marion Store in Marion from 1958-1981. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church near Centertown and attended business college for studies in justice.
Survivors include: two sisters, Reva Bagby, Springfield, and Helen Smith, Marion.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Mitchell, Paris and James Taggart; and four sisters, Gladys Bledsoe, Ruth Sapp, Vernie Clark and Edith Plaster.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Hope Cemetery, north of Centertown. The Rev. Mark Searcy will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to New Hope Baptist Church, 11021 Route N, Centertown, MO 65023, or the charity of the donor's choice.
SILVEY
Loyd Edward Silvey, 86, Versailles, died July 21, 2001, at the Good Shepherd Care Center, Versailles.
He was born Dec. 16, 1914, in Versailles, a son of Benjamin R. and Stella R. Wilson Silvey. He was married Oct. 3, 1940, in Versailles, to Fay Lucille James, who survives at the home.
He was a self-employed truck driver and farmer. He worked for the state highway department until his retirement in 1974. He attended First Assembly of God Church, Versailles.
Other survivors include: three sons, Loyd Vernon Silvey, Charles E. Silvey and Steven D. Silvey, all of Versailles; two daughters, Evelyn Pryor and Fonda Raines, both of Versailles; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Assembly of God Church, Versailles. Pastor Roy Bennett will officiate. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
McBROOM
Bonnie F. McBroom, 62, California, died July 20, 2001, at St. Elizabeth Care Center, St. Elizabeth.
She was born Aug. 28, 1938, near Clarksburg, a daughter of Earl F. and Faye Milligan Miller.
She was a 1956 graduate of California High School. She was a homemaker and member of First Christian Church, California.
Survivors include: two sons, Lanny N. McBroom, Washington , D.C., and Steven A. McBroom, Jamestown; one stepdaughter, Patty McBroom, Bloomington, Ill.; one sister, Sharon Kirchoff, California; and three grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California. The Rev. David Nicholson will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, north of California.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today.

AUST
Penny Aust, 73, Boonville, died July 21, 2001, at Ashley Manor Care Center, Boonville.
She was born May 11, 1928, in Iberia, a daughter of Marshall and Alice Davenport Jeffries. She was married Oct. 23, 1944, in Eldon, to James Gail Aust, who died April 12, 1995.
She was manager of Vista Marketing Ltd., Columbia, until she retired in 1993. She was a member of the Dripping Spring Christian Church, Daughters of the American Revolution and the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, all in Columbia. She had lived in Hallsville.
Survivors include: two sons, Danny Aust, Columbia, and Douglas Aust, Boonville; one brother, Cecil Jeffries, Eldon; one sister, Helen Marriot, Franklin, Texas ; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Debra Dority, died April 17, 2001. Two grandsons also preceded her in death.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The Rev. Robert Vegiard will officiate. Burial will be in the Livingston Cemetery, near Iberia.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Tuesday.
