McGINNIS

James David "J.D." McGinnis, 70, Versailles, died July 23, 2001, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.

He was born June 26, 1931, in Morgan County, a son of David N. and Rozella Walters McGinnis. He was married Aug. 21, 1955, in Versailles, to Fern Bland, who survives at the home.

He was a small motor mechanic and worked for Akin's Hardware, Versailles. He was an Army veteran; a member of VFW Post 5902, Gravois Mills; and a member of United Pentecostal Church, Versailles.

Other survivors include: four sons, Phil McGinnis and Till McGinnis, both of Versailles, Dennis McGinnis, Barnett, and Randy McGinnis, California; two daughters, Brenda Caviness and Ramona Brown, both of Versailles; two brothers, O.L. McGinnis, Barnett, and Kenneth McGinnis, Gravois Mills; two sisters, Wanda Ikerd, Orlando, Fla., and Melva Vogt, Versailles; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

One son, Andy Gene McGinnis, died June 4, 1986.

Services will at 2 p.m. Thursday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Gerald Hamlett will officiate. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

McKINNEY

Gerald Thomas McKinney Jr., 63,  Jefferson City, died July 24, 2001, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.

He was born Jan. 27, 1938, in  Jefferson City, a son of Gerald T. Sr. and Mary Katherine Blume McKinney. His mother survives in  Jefferson City. He was married March 9, 1957, in  Jefferson City, to Carolyn Sue Cardwell Miller, who survives. He was married May 1, 1992, in Osage Beach, to Heather Christian, who survives at the home.

He was a 1956 graduate of St. Peter High School. He worked for  Jefferson Body and Frame and was manager of McKay Buick Body Shop and Brooms Auto Body. He was owner and operator of TNT Auto Body from 1981 to 1988.

He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2693. He had been a member of the  Jefferson City Jaycees.

Other survivors include: four sons, Gerald Thomas McKinney III, Boonville, Greg McKinney, Holts Summit, and Courtney McKinney and Collin McKinney, both of the home; two daughters, Dianna Smart, Tebbetts, and Gayle Linneman, Blackwater; two brothers, Dennis M. McKinney, Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Gary P. McKinney, Meeker, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to the Courtney and Collin McKinney Educational Fund, in care of Boone County National Bank.

MUSICK

Mary Lee Musick, 71, Tipton, died July 23, 2001, at her home.

She was born Feb. 22, 1930, in Latham, a daughter of John and Grace Pardoe Clifford. She was married April 7, 1959, in Tipton, to Joseph Peter Musick, who died in November 1970.

She graduated from Tipton High School in 1948. She was a member of the Fortuna Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school. She was a member of the Tipton Sundowners Extension Club.

She was a sewing machine operator at Weber Shoe Co., Tipton, and operated a home day care center for the past 20 years.

Survivors include: one son, Stephen R. Musick, Warrensburg; two daughters, Debra Stahl, Syracuse, and Janet Miller, Tipton; one brother, Dean Clifford, Belton; two sisters, Anna Ruth Sanders,  Jefferson City, and Monta Uptergrove, Fortuna; and five grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Fortuna Methodist Church. The Rev. David Howlett will officiate. Burial will be in Latham Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton.

Memorials are suggested to Fortuna Methodist Church.

TURNER

Charles William Turner, 69, Russellville, died July 24, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 30, 1932, in Terre Haute, Ind. He was married Sept. 24, 1975, in Martinsville, Ind., to Edna Connel, who survives at the home.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, and served with the military from 1949 until his retirement in 1992. He was a deputy sheriff in Brown County, Ind., and worked as a custodian at the Missouri State Capitol.

Other survivors include: three sons, Robert Lee Turner, Carlsbad, N.M., Charles C. Turner,  Jefferson City, and J.D. Gilbert, Gulfport, Miss.; six step-sons, Donald Hoerschgen, Dwayne Hoerschgen, Jerry Hoerschgen, Danny Hoerschgen, Randy Hoerschgen and Glen Hoerschgen, all of  Jefferson City; four daughters, Clesta Gilmore, Holts Summit; Debbie Pebler, Tulsa, Okla., Jennifer Greenwood, Fulton, and Romona Curry, Eldon; one step-daughter, Mary Davis,  Jefferson City; 34 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Roberta Kramer, who died Oct. 5, 2000, and one grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Peace Lutheran Church. The Rev. Matthew Brooks will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home.

Memorial are suggested to the Peace Lutheran Church Building Fund or the church evangelism fund.

SCRIVNER

Larry J. Scrivner, 56, Versailles, died July 25, 2001, at Oak View Living Center.

He was born Nov. 17, 1944, in Miller County, a son of Earnest and Lelia Opie Scrivner. He was married July 26, 1975, in Versailles, to Ruth Ann Lamphier, who survives at the home.

He grew up near Eldon and was self-employed in construction. He was a member of Versailles Assembly of God Church.

Other survivors include: three brothers, Jewel Scrivner, Valejo, Calif., James Scrivner, Eldon, and Gene Scrivner, Osage Beach; and two sisters, Pauline Geiger and Byrlene Connell, both of Eldon.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Versailles Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Roy Bennett will officiate. Burial will be in Big Rock Cemetery, Barnett.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Versailles.

Memorials are suggested to Assembly of God Men's Ministry Missions Fund or a charity of the donor's choice.

MAY

Juanita L. May, 76, Rocky Mount, died July 25, 2001, in Osage Beach.

She was born Aug. 2, 1924, in Essex, a daughter of Cordis and Anna Lyons Persinger. She was married Nov. 15, 1941, to Frank L. May, who survives at the home.

A resident of Rocky Mount since 1979, she was a homemaker. She was a member of North Shore Baptist Church and Rocky Mount Lions Ladies Auxillary.

Other survivors include: one son, Frank E. May, Clawson, Mich.; one daughter, Nancy Wilkerson, Rocky Mount; one brother, James Persinger, Rochester, Mich.; one sister, Virginia Cates, New Port Richey, Fla.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Chestnut Ridge Cemetery, Farmington.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon, with a eulogy at 6:30 p.m. Visitation also wiil be from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at Cozean Funeral Home, Farmington.

Memorials are suggested to Camp Wonderland.

SPRADLIN

James T. Spradlin, 67, Fulton, died July 25, 2001, at his home.

He was born Sept. 27, 1933, in Callaway County, a son of Ernest A. and Golda Dove Spradlin. He was married July 13, 1952, to Joyce Meador, who survives at the home.

He worked for more than 20 years at Harbison-Walker as a lab technician in quality control. He served as president of Harbison-Walker Union and was on the Fulton City Council. He owned his own construction and hardwood lumber company. He was a member of the Unity Baptist Church, Toledo.

Other survivors include: one son, James L. Spradlin,  Jefferson City; one brother, William E. Spradlin, Little Rock, Ark.; two sisters, Helen Austin, Williamsburg, and Ruth Owens, Hershey, Mich.; and one grandson.

One son, Richard Allen Spradlin, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Unity Baptist Church, Toledo. The Rev. Robert L. "Bob" Hawkins and Bruce Williamson will officiate. Burial will be in Unity Baptist Cemetery, Toledo.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton.

Memorials are suggested to Unity Baptist Cemetery Fund, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas, Fulton, Mo. 65251, or to Boone Home Care Hospice, 3315 Berrywood Dr., Suite 102, Columbia, Mo. 65201.

SULLENS

Mary Frances Sullens, 70, Eugene, died July 25, 2001, at her home.

Arrangements are incomplete with Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Russellville.

MATTHEWS

George E. Matthews, 64, Centertown, died July 27, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Jan. 27, 1937, in Centertown, a son of Earl and Flossie Murray Matthews. His father survives in California. He was married June 30, 1956, in  Jefferson City, to Jackie Lou Nichols, who survives at the home.

He attended high school in California. He was a certified watchmaker and certified locksmith. He worked as a commercial carpenter, Local 945, until retirement in 1998. He worked with Carpenters for Christ, Concord Mission Builders and World Changers.

He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church,  Jefferson City, where he served as deacon and Sunday school director. He was a member of Blue Lodge, Royal Arch, Ezra Council, Prince of Peace, Scottish Rite, Moolah Temple, and Capital Shriners. He served on the Centertown Fire Board; Centertown School Board; Centertown Board as mayor; Leisure Village Board as president; and Cole County Sheriff's Auxiliary.

Other survivors include: one son, Darren S. Matthews, Lohman; one brother, Donald E. Matthews, California; and two granddaughters.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the church with Masonic Rites at 8 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Cornerstone Baptist Church, 4930 Old Lohman Road,  Jefferson City, Mo. 65109.

Arrangements are under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Directors.

GOLDEN

Faith Rae Hayes Golden, 55,  Jefferson City, died July 26, 2001, at her home.

She was born Nov. 17, 1945, in St. Louis, a daughter of Ray O. and Alice Louise Jennick Brumley. She was married Aug. 14, 1963, in Bland, to Thomas A. Hayes, who died in October 1982.

She attended school in Bland and College Hill. She was a nurses aid at the Gasconade Manor, St. Joseph's Home for the Aged and Chastain's.

Survivors include: one son, Bruce A. Hayes, Rolla; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. The Rev. Murl Nash will officiate. Burial will be in College Hill Cemetery, near Mt. Sterling.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Monday.

Memorials are suggested to New Horizons Activity Center.
