DeJAYNES

Pauline M. DeJaynes, 89, Farmington, formerly of  Jefferson City, died July 26, 2001, at Parkland Health Center, Farmington.

She was born March 23, 1912, in Springfield, Tenn., a daughter of James A. and Addie Lou Hall Murphy. She was married in 1930, to Clayborn Leroy Laffoon, who died in 1940. She was married July 28, 1944, in Rossville, Ga., to Raymond DeJaynes, who died Jan. 8, 1990.

She attended school in Springfield, Tenn. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Farmington, and a former member of the First Baptist Church,  Jefferson City. A homemaker, she worked at several department stores.

Survivors include: two sons, James Leroy Laffoon, Fredericktown, and Robert D. Laffoon, Santa Ana, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Betty Bailey, Chillicothe, Ill.; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Buescher Memorial Home. The Rev. C.D. Bulter will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's disease research or the American Heart Association.

DALE

Lillian O. Dale, 89, California, died July 27, 2001, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Versailles.

She was born July 15, 1912, in California, a daughter of Henry and Minnie Mae Jobe Roberts. She was married Oct. 27, 1933, in California, to Glen L. Dale, who died Nov. 28, 1994.

She worked at the California Woolen Mill and as a seamstress at the California Manufacturing Plant. She was a member of the California United Methodist Church and attended California High School.

Survivors include: two daughters, Glenda Hainen, Tipton, and Joan Dale, Columbia; two sisters, Eleanor Butcher, Independence, and Marie Dunham, Waynesville; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at California United Methodist Church. The Rev. Carol Koenig will officiate. Burial will be in California City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California.

Memorials are suggested to the California United Methodist Church, 201 S. Oak St., California, Mo. 65018 or the California Senior Center, 107 W. Versailles, California, Mo. 65018.

NELSON

Eugene Charles "Gene" Nelson II, 35, Holts Summit, died July 26, 2001, at his home.

He was born Aug. 25, 1965, in Springfield, a son of Eugene C. and Diane A.  LeBlanc Nelson, who survive in Nixa. He was married July 30, 1988, in Hale, to Lora Gayle Crose, who survives at the home.

He was a graduate of West Plains High School, West Plains, and attended Columbia College. He worked for the Missouri River Regional Library and Nabisco.

Other survivors include: one brother, Mark E. Nelson, Nutley, N.J.; paternal grandmother, Marjorie Nelson, Springfield; and maternal grandmother, Jeannette Burgeron, Nixa.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, Holts Summit. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Ozark.

Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials are suggested to the Arthritis Foundation.

WOLKEN

Katherine Marie Wolken, 93, Columbia, formerly of Fulton, died July 27, 2001, in Columbia.

She was born Feb. 10, 1908, in West Pointe, Neb., a daughter of Joe and Mary Koeman Niewohner. She was married Feb. 22, 1934, in West Pointe, to Lawrence H. Wolken, who died in December 1993.

She worked as a psych aide at Fulton State Hospital and was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Fulton, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Columbia.

Survivors include: two daughters, LaRae Clark, Fulton, and Judy K. Sheets, Columbia; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren and 22 step great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Fulton. Fr. William Korte will officiate. Entombment will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton, with a Rosary at 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to St. Peter's Catholic Church.

TURNER

Leona Elizabeth Turner, 97, Tebbetts, died July 27, 2001, at St. Joseph's Home for the Aged.

She was born Sept. 16, 1903, in Mokane, a daughter of E. Frederick and Anna Caroline Topel Huebler. She was married in June 1919, in Mokane, to Elmer Ware Turner, who died June 8, 1979.

She attended schools in Mokane. She was a member of Tebbetts United Methodist Church, Tebbetts. She opened Turner's Store, Tebbetts, in 1933 and operated the store until her death. She donated a building to the Conservation Foundation of Missouri Charitable Trust. The building is now named the Turner Katy Trail Shelter.

Survivors include: one son, Harold D. Turner, Tebbetts; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

One son, Chester Ray Turner, died Feb. 21, 1997.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Buescher Memorial Home. The Rev. Bruce Bernard will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Tebbetts.

Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the Riverview Cemetery, Tebbetts.

SEIFERT

Myrtle Bertha Seifert, 92, Jamestown, died July 27, 2001, at Lakeview Nursing Home, Boonville.

She was born Jan. 8, 1909, in Centerville, a daughter of Charley and Ava Reed Gale. Her foster parents Mike and Anna Fullrich Herfurth preceded her in death. She was married Nov. 6, 1933, to Edward Emil Seifert, who died July 20, 1973.

She was a waitress and homemaker. She was a member of Pleasant Grove United Church of Christ, Prairie Home. She was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 104, Versailles.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Weber and Sons Funeral Home, California. The Rev. Chester Marshall will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove United Church of Christ Cemetery, near Prairie Home.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to Pleasant Grove United Church of Christ Church, Prairie Home, Mo.

LEWIS

Jessica "Jessy Dawn" Lewis, 19, Olean, died July 27, 2001, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Lebanon.

She was born Nov. 20, 1981, in Rolla, a daughter of Lynn and Theresa Lewis Groce. Her parents survive in Olean.

She was a 2000 graduate of Eldon High School, and was active in basketball, volleyball, choir and the FHA. She worked at Denny's in  Jefferson City, and was a member of Eastside Assembly of God Church, Eldon.

Other survivors include: two brothers, Jeff Lewis and Joey Clark; six sisters, Tiffany Clark, Tricha Clark, Jaclyn Groce, Michelle Hollobaugh, Jennifer Hollobaugh and Angie Vincent; and her grandmother, Thelma Groce.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Eastside Assembly of God Church, Eldon. The Rev. Buena Huffman will officiate. Burial will be in Eldon Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at Rekus Funeral Home, Eldon.

Memorials are suggested to Eldon FHA Scholarship Fund.

HOOD

Betty Reeves Hood, 77, Fulton, died July 28, 2001, at her home.

She was born July 25, 1924, in Fulton, a daughter of David R. and Ruth Davis Reeves. She was married to Martin Paul, who preceded her in death. She was married to Harold Hood, who died in 1968.

She worked as a consultant for an investment company. She was a member of the Court Street United Methodist Church, Fulton, and the American Business Women's Association which she was woman of the year.

She was vice president of the First National Bank until her retirement. She was campaign chairperson for Harriet Woods and served on the Rebeka Lodge Queens Council.

Survivors include: two sons, Martin "Butch" Paul, Rayville, and Tracy Hood, Alice, Texas ; one daughter, Jennifer Greenwood, Fulton; and two sisters, Frances Schulze and Billie Willett, both of Fulton.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Hillcrest Cemetery, Fulton. Bruce Williamson will officiate.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton.

Memorials are suggested to the Betty Hood Memorial Fund in care of Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas, Fulton, Mo. 65251.

FARRIS

Mary Ann Farris, 67, Russellville, died July 28, 2001, at the University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.

She was born Feb. 16, 1934, in Brazito, a daughter of Adam and Pauline Opel Scheperle. She was married Aug. 4, 1956, in Brazito, to Vernon Farris, who survives at the home.

She was a nurse at Still Hospital for more than 25 years. She taught nursing at nursing homes after her retirement. She was a member of Enon Baptist Church.

Other survivors include: two sons, Toomie Farris, Indianapolis, and Rick Farris, Russellville; one brother, Raymond Scheperle,  Jefferson City; two sisters, Ola Liescheidt,  Jefferson City, and Nelda Browner, St. Martins; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Enon Baptist Church. The Rev. John C. Farris, the Rev. Randy Trumbo and the Rev. Gerald Scheperle will officiate. Burial will be in Enloe Cemetery, Russellville.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Russellville.

Memorials are suggested to the Vernon and Mary Ann Farris grandchildren's education fund.
