CLARK

Charles Eckles Clark Sr., 53,  Jefferson City, died July 27, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Oct. 4, 1947, in Meta, a son of Vernie C. and Julia Mae Woods Clark. He was married June 11, 1999, in  Jefferson City, to Rhonda Maxine Brooke, who survives at the home.

He attended schools in Jamestown.

He had been employed at Midwest Block and Brick Co. and Country Kitchen Restaurant.

He was a member of the Baptist Church.

Other survivors include: one son, Charles Eckles Clark Jr.,  Jefferson City; one daughter, Stacy Ann Clark,  Jefferson City; four brothers, Ronald R. Clark, Centertown, and Bernard L. Clark, Vernie Gale Clark and James Scott Clark, all of  Jefferson City; two sisters, Mae Elizabeth Lee, Sedalia, and Addie J. Parish, Clarksburg; and three grandchildren.

Private family services are planned.

Memorials are suggested to the Charles Clark Memorial Fund.

Arrangements are under the direction of Buescher Memorial Home.

DAVIS

Elmer Houston Davis, 73,  Jefferson City, died July 30, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Oct. 24, 1927, in Statesville, Tenn., a son of Elmer H. and Julia Donnell Davis. He was married Sept. 20, 1956, in Little Rock, Ark., to Frances Reese, who survives at the home.

He was a graduate of Timonsville, S.C., High School and earned a bachelor's degree in 1951 from the University of South Carolina.

A Navy veteran of World War II, he was an epidemiologist with the U.S. Department of Health for 35 years until retirement in 1986. He was employed with the Missouri Department of Health from 1986 to 1992. He was a field epidemiologist in the summer of 1975 with the World Health Organization program to eradicate small pox in Bangladesh.

A Presbyterian, he had attended Concord Baptist Church.

He was a charter member of the Missouri Genealogical Society and a member of the American Legion.

Other survivors include: two sons, E. Houston Davis Jr. and Donnell R. Davis, both of  Jefferson City; and three grandchildren.

Private family graveside services with military honors will be Thursday in Riverview Cemetery. The Rev. Mickey Ary will officiate.

Public visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Thursday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, c/o Gloria Schneider, Chairperson, 2932 Mohawk,  Jefferson City, Mo. 65101.

GILMORE

Elene Anne Jones Gilmore, 87, Bloomington, Ind., formerly of  Jefferson City, died July 29, 2001, at Bell Trace Nursing Home.

She was born July 9, 1914, in Granite City, Ill., a daughter of William and Eugenia Bess Carey. She was married to Russell Jones, who preceded her in death. She was married in 1970 to James Gilmore, who preceded her in death.

She co-owned Granite City Plating and Polishing, Granite City, and the Tastee Treat Drive-In and Jones Cafeteria in  Jefferson City.

She moved to Bloomington in 1966.

She worked at Indiana University Food Services until her retirement in 1979.

She was a member of AARP, the Borrowed Time Club, Daughters of Isabella and the Modern Homemakers Extension Club. She volunteered with the Hospitality House and Area 10 Agency on Aging. She also lived in St. Louis.

Survivors include: one daughter, Eugenia Baker; one stepdaughter, Mary Ann Jordan; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Bloomington. The Rev. Myles H. Smith will officiate. Entombment will be in Valhalla Mausoleum, Bloomington.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.

MEDLEY

Joan Medley, 69, Camdenton, died July 31, 2001, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach.

She was born May 18, 1932, near Ira, a daughter of Loren W. and Betty Breakbill Brines. She was married June 6, 1952, to Raymond Medley Jr., who survives at the home.

She was a homemaker and co-owned pharmacies. She attended the Church of God.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Mitzi Farricker, Glendora, Calif., and Lorna Patterson, Simsburg, Conn.; and four granddaughters.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. The Rev. Sam Simmonds will officiate. Entombment will be in Mt. Rose Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

MORMANN - MORMANN

Marcus John Mormann, 72, and Lucille Margaret Mormann, 69, both of Olean, died July 28, 2001, in an automobile accident in Eugene.

He was born Oct. 17, 1928, in Marys Home, a son of Conrad and Katherine Loethen Mormann. She was born Nov. 24, 1931, in Marys Home, a daughter of Andrew and Anna Kempker Bax. Marcus Mormann and Lucille Margaret Bax were married Oct. 27, 1951, in Marys Home.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, Marys Home, VFW Post 2442, Eldon, and F.O.E. Post 2693,  Jefferson City.

He was a farmer and a veteran of the Korean War.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church and previously was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Altar Sodality.

A homemaker, she was a cook for Cole R-5 School, Eugene, from 1986 to 1999.

Their survivors include two sons, Gary Mormann, Olean, and Larry Mormann,  Jefferson City, and five grandchildren.

His survivors also include two sisters, Lucille Rush, Marys Home, and Kathryn Kempker, Eugene, and two brothers, Wesley Mormann, Marys Home, and William Mormann, Belleville.

Her survivors also include one sister, Geneva Mormann, Marys Home, and one brother, Elmer Bax,  Jefferson City.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church. The Rev. Clarence Wiederholt will officiate. Burial will be in Our Lady of the Snows Cemetery, Marys Home.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. today at the church, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

BERKENBILE

Laura Opal Berkenbile, 90, Tipton, died July 31, 2001, at Tipton Manor.

She was born Aug. 9, 1910, in Fortuna, a daughter of W.B. and Elsie Bechtel Graham. She was married Feb. 21, 1933, to Lee Roy Berkenbile, who died Feb. 28, 1994.

A homemaker, she also farmed. She lived most of her life in Tipton.

Survivors include: one brother, Lilburn Graham, California; and one sister, Marguerite Moon, Boonville.

Three infant sons, Billie Lee Berkenbile, David Roy Berkenbile and Wallace Duane Berkenbile, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton. The Rev. David Howlett will officiate. Burial will be in Tipton Masonic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Friday.

KNOLLMEYER

John Joseph Knollmeyer, 65, Linn, died Aug. 1, 2001, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.

He was born Oct. 14, 1935, in  Jefferson City, a son of Francis and Antoinette Haar Knollmeyer. He was married Nov. 29, 1958, to Ann Sturm, who survives at the home.

A graduate of Chaminade College Prep School, St. Louis, he received a bachelor's degree from Benedictine College, Atchison, Kan. He served as president of Hometown Lumber & Hardware, Inc. until his retirement in 1994. He was a past president of the Linn Lions Club and was a member of St. George Catholic Church, Linn.

Other survivors include: four sons, Joseph H. Knollmeyer,  Jefferson City, John F. Knollmeyer and Thomas A. Knollmeyer, both of Linn, and Timothy K. Knollmeyer, Lake Charles, La.; one daughter, Kriste A. Ludwig, San Diego, Calif.; three brothers, Frank A. Knollmeyer, Vienna, Donald E. Knollmeyer, Bonnots Mill, and Jerry L. Knollmeyer, Hot Springs, Ark.; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Saturday at St. George Catholic Church, Linn. The Rev. George J. Kramer will officiate. The body will be donated to medical science.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the St. George Activity Center, Linn.

MARRIOTT

Viola Aleen Marriott, 69, Boonville, died Aug. 1, 2001, at her home.

She was born Sept. 11, 1931, near Florence, a daughter of Coleman and Cecil Goan Monteer. She was married June 5, 1948, to O.L. Marriott, who died Jan. 11, 1976.

A homemaker, she lived in Bunceton before moving to Boonville.

She was a member of the River of Life Assembly of God Church, Boonville.

Survivors include: one son, Steven Marriott, Sweet Springs; three daughters, Joyce Asher, Centralia, Linda Thurman, Bunceton, and Becky Crump, Columbia; two brothers, Leo Monteer, New Franklin, and C.J. Monteer, Stover; one sister, Maxine Campbell, Stover; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Stover. The Rev. Danny Marshall will officiate. Burial will be in Stover Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday.
