O'BRIEN

Lucille O'Brien, 89, Sunrise Beach, died May 22, 1999, at Lake of the Ozarks General Hospital, Osage Beach.

She was born Sept. 22, 1909, in Chicago, a daughter of Thomas and Mary Starke Danaher. She was married Dec. 26, 1934, to Joseph O'Brien, who died March 22, 1969.

She was a telephone operator and supervisor at Illinois Bell Telephone for 17 years. A resident of the Lake of the Ozarks area since 1950, she was a member of Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Laurie. She was active in civic organizations.

Survivors include: one daughter, Mary Lu Jenkins, Sunrise Beach; one son, Daniel O'Brien, Sunrise Beach and two grandsons.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church. The remains will be cremated. Inurnment will be at a later date in St. Patrick Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1-6 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Meals on Wheels or to the Older Adults Transportation System.

Arrangements are under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie.

ROHR

Deborah Lynn Redel Rohr, 36,  Jefferson City, died May 21, 1999, at her home.

She was born Dec. 8, 1962, in  Jefferson City, a daughter of Vince and Ruth Hutchison Redel. Her father survives in Gravois Mills; her mother survives in  Jefferson City.

A resident of the  Jefferson City area for the past three years, she lived in Gravois Mills for 10 years. She graduated from high school in Omaha, Neb. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the Jaycees.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Nichole Ann Rohr,  Jefferson City; four stepsisters; and one stepbrother.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Freeman Chapel. The Rev. Scott Musselman will officiate. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery near Argyle.

Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the Kidney Foundation.

SAYERS

Frances Irene Sayers, 78, Holts Summit, died May 20, 1999, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 2, 1920, in Des Moines, Iowa, a daughter of Virgil and Zilpha Bell Scott Gilpin.

She attended schools in Des Moines and graduated from Des Moines High School. She was employed at Von Hoffmann Press Inc. for 19 years until her retirement. She was a member of the Lutheran Church.

Survivors include: three sons, William E. Thompson Sr., Arnold, Calvin E. Fletcher, Tebbetts, and Robert Sayers Sr., Holts Summit; two daughters, Patricia D. Mondon, Corona, Calif., and Donna Sue Johnson-Moser, St. Louis; 22 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

One daughter, Jeannie A. Hydar, died in 1984.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. today in Hickory Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Randy Trumbo will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans or the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are under the direction of Buescher Memorial Home.

SCHUBERT

Margaret B. Schubert, 82, formerly of  Jefferson City, died May 21, 1999, at Ozark Care Center, Osage Beach.

She was born Aug. 7, 1916, in  Jefferson City, a daughter of Edward and Emma Pohlman Linhardt. She was married Jan. 28, 1950, in Omaha, Neb., to Clarence A. Schubert, who died Dec. 29, 1966.

She attended school in Russellville. A homemaker, she was a member of Eldon Methodist Church.

Survivors include: four sons, David L. Stroessner, Payallup, Wash., Jerry P. Stroessner, Lake Ozark, Michael E. Schubert, Camdenton, and Thomas C. Schubert, Tuscumbia; two sisters, Nelma Scheperle,  Jefferson City, and Jerene Lohmeyer, Washington , Mo.; one brother, Robert Linhardt, Russellville; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Freeman Chapel. The Rev. Thomas W. Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.

SCOTT

Mike Scott, 37, Auxvasse, died May 22, 1999, at Lake of the Ozarks General Hospital, Osage Beach, as a result of injuries sustained in a traffic accident.

He was born April 27, 1962, in Morrison, Ill., a son of Neal R. and Carole L. Tinkler Scott. His parents survive in Eldon. He was married Feb. 15, 1999, in  Jefferson City, to Juliet Scott, who survives in Kansas City.

He was a Navy veteran and a roofer who loved motorcycles.

Other survivors include: one son, Gary R. Scott, Eldon; two stepsons, Beau Rippy and Mickey Rippy, both of Kansas City; one brother, Billy J. Scott, Eldon; and one sister, Tia R. Fitzwater Scott, Eldon.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett. The Rev. Doug Walter will officiate.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

Memorials are suggested to the family in care of the funeral home.

WELCH

Mary Jean Welch, 74, Fort Collins, Colo., formerly of Rocky Mount, died May 19, 1999, at Mountain Towers Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Cheyenne, Wyo.

Arrangements are incomplete at Buescher Memorial Home.

DEFFENBAUGH

Brooks F. Deffenbaugh, 93, Eldon, died May 23, 1999, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born Aug. 3, 1905, in Miller County, a daughter of George W. and Maude Sweaney Atkinson. She was married Sept. 27, 1927, in Tuscumbia, to Ross B. Deffenbaugh, who died Sept. 16, 1973.

A lifelong resident of Miller County, she was a farmer and a homemaker.

She was a member of Mount Pleasant Christian Church and the Willing Workers Quilting Club.

Survivors include: one son, Billy Deffenbaugh, Eldon; one daughter, Anita Lambeth, Eldon; one sister, Anna Cox, Amarillo, Texas ; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mossman & Hess Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Don Renken will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Eldon.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.

DODSON

Elizabeth B. Dodson, 78,  Jefferson City, died May 22, 1999, at Oak View Living Center.

She was born June 20, 1920, in Mount Vernon, a daughter of Porter and Nella O'Dell Jones. She was married Sept. 22, 1951, in Buffalo, to Glennon "Bill" Dodson, who survives at the home.

She was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School and Draughton Business College.

A resident of the  Jefferson City area since 1960, she worked at the Holsom Bakery, Springfield, and with the Missouri Department of Conservation until her retirement in 1986.

She was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Cynthia Sears, Columbia; one son, Jack M. Dodson,  Jefferson City; two sisters, Bernette Baker, Springfield, and Alice Harris, Lebanon; one brother, Jack Jones, Bartlesville, Okla., and four grandchildren.

One granddaughter preceded her in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. R.W. Beard will officiate. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Mount Vernon.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday in the First Presbyterian Church parlor.

Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

DOWNS

Patricia Ellen Downs, 66, Dixon, Ill., died May 21, 1999, at her home.

She was born June 2, 1932, in Bushnell, Ill., a daughter of James Robert Keigwin.

She received a bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Iowa.

She worked for the Dixon Developmental Center from 1966 to 1983, and was a registered nurse for the Illinois Department of Public Health until her retirement in 1995.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Dixon, Ill., and the American Nurses Association.

Survivors include: one son, Paul Downs, Dixon, Ill.; two daughters, Jennifer Jo Chapman,  Jefferson City, and Melissa Jane Kress, Bartlett, Ill.; one brother, Thomas Keigwin, San Diego, Calif.; one stepbrother, Richard Witter, Macomb, Ill.; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Dixon, Ill. The Rev. John Bell will officiate. The remains were cremated.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Rock River Valley.

Arrangements are under the direction of Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon, Ill.
