BURNETT

Denzil C. Burnett, 89, Columbia, formerly of Versailles, died Aug. 17, 2001, at Boone Retirement Center, Columbia.

She was born Oct. 28, 1911, in Morgan County, a daughter of Harrison and Agnes Campbell Anduss. She was married March 12, 1930, to Hurshel M. Burnett, who died Dec. 29, 1988.

A homemaker, she was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two sons, Vencil Burnett and Virgil Burnett, both of Springfield; one daughter, Sonia Rose, Columbia; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Two sons, Terry Burnett and Earl Burnett, one granddaughter and one great-grandson preceded her in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church, Versailles. The Rev. Bill Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.

CRAWFORD

Ethel A. Crawford, 88, California, died Aug. 18, 2001, at California Care Center, California.

She was born March 19, 1913, in Versailles, a daughter of Thomas H. and Elvira Pryor Williams. She was married April 22, 1934, in California, to Glover Crawford, who died April 10, 1992.

She retired after 38 years of employment with California Manufacturing where she was a seamstress. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, California.

Survivors include: two sons, Bobby L. Crawford, California, and Gary D. Crawford,  Jefferson City; one daughter, Jane Strobel, Richmond; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California. The Rev. Greg Morrow will officiate. Burial will be in California City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday.

Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church-Memorial Fund, 208 South Oak St., California, Mo. 65018 or the California Care Center-Residents Fund, 1106 South Oak St. California, Mo. 65018.

ROESLER

Catherine Avon Roesler, 82, Versailles, died Aug. 18, 2001, at Good Shepherd Care Center.

She was born Sept. 2, 1918, in Sedalia, a daughter of Arthur V. Mullins and Anna E. Fisher Mullins. She was married Sept. 19, 1946, to John H. Hardy, who died May 14, 1975. She was married Sept. 1, 1986, to Roger Roesler, who survives in Blue Springs.

She was a member of the Syracuse Baptist Church. She was a member of the Democratic Party, as well the Byberry Homemakers. She served as president of the Otterville Parents and Teachers Association.

Other survivors include: two sons, Robert W. Hardy, Troy, and John Hardy; two step daughters; two brothers, Alfred A. Mullins, Otterville, and Arthur Mullins, Kansas City; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Syracuse Baptist Church in Syracuse, Mo. The Rev. Woodson More will officiate. Burial will be in the Syracuse Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home in Tipton.

Memorials are suggested to the Syracuse Baptist Church.

VERSLUES

Josephine Ann Verslues, 88, Taos, died Aug. 18, 2001, at  Jefferson City Manor Care Center.

She was born Jan. 3, 1913, in Taos, a daughter of Conrad and Elizabeth Bruemmer Kramer. She was married Nov. 14, 1933, in Taos, to Edwin F. Verslues, who died Sept. 23, 1989.

She attended St. Francis Xavier Catholic School. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where she was a member of the parish's prayerline.

Survivors include: two sons, William C. Verslues, Loose Creek, and Robert J. Verslues,  Jefferson City; three sisters, Mathilda Forck and Cyrilla Prenger, both of Taos, and Marie Wieberg, Argyle; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

One son, Louis H. Verslues, died April 26, 2000.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Fr. David Maher will officiate. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors -- Taos Chapel, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Xavier Catholic School or St. Francis Xavier Church Radio Ministry.

DOBBINS

Ralph L. Dobbins, 77, Versailles, died Aug. 18, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 14, 1924, in Morgantown, W.Va., a son of Rex and Delana Minney Dobbins. He was married Feb. 28, 1943, to Emma Grace Richardson, who survives at the home.

He was a union carpenter for Local 25, California, for 45 years until his retirement.

An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the American Legion and VFW in California. He was past commander of the DAV in Lodi, Calif., and was a member of West Union Baptist Church, near Versailles.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Carol Huff, Stover; three sisters, Geraldine Hays and Elinor Keagy, both of Lodi, and Imelda Long, Harrisville, W.Va.; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Rod Campbell and Barry Grider will officiate. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Wednesday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Association.

McKINNEY

Richard F. "Dick" McKinney Jr., 79,  Jefferson City, died Aug. 19, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Nov. 15, 1921, in Mexico, a son of Richard F. Sr. and Marie Rountree McKinney. He was married April 27, 1942, in Mexico, to Thora L. Russell, who survives.

A graduate of  Jefferson City High School, he received a bachelor's degree in education from Southwest Missouri State University. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, and umpired professional baseball from 1957 to 1966. He was employed at the Missouri Department of Corrections until his retirement in 1981.

He was a member of Capital City Christian Church, American Legion Roscoe Enloe Post 5, the Missouri Sheriffs Association, the Chief of Police Association and the Missouri State Troopers Association. He was a member of the Association of Professional Baseball Players of America, Camp Coast to Coast and the American Association of Retired Persons.

Other survivors include one daughter, Candy Jett,  Jefferson City, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Two daughters, Sharen Ann McKinney and Janeen Marie McKinney, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. Gary Baker will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Association; or to the American Diabetes Association.

NATIONS

Thomas Nations, 75, Sedalia, died Aug. 18, 2001, at Bothwell Regional Health Center, Sedalia.

He was born Feb. 10, 1926, in Macks Creek, a son of John T. and Sarah Frances Eidson Nations. He was married July 13, 1963, in Wichita, Kan., to Doris Goode, who survives at the home.

He was employed at Ford Motor Company, Kansas City, and was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Macks Creek.

Other survivors include: three sons, Tommy Nations, Grundy Center, Iowa, and Danny Nations and Gregory Nations, both of Kansas City; two stepsons, Kenneth Magers, Platt City, and Vince Magers, Kansas City; one sister, Eunice Parks, Macks Creek; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

One granddaughter preceded him in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Don Willis will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Macks Creek.

Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges Funeral Home, Macks Creek.

CRIGLER

Leroy Crigler, 76, Eldon, died Aug. 17, 2001, in  Jefferson City.

Arrangements are incomplete at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

WEBSTER

John David "J.D." Webster, 72, Macks Creek, died Aug. 29, 2001, at his home.

He was born Nov. 5, 1928, in Camdenton, a son of Porter and Rosa Rogers Webster. He was married June 8, 1952, in Arkansas, to Adra Cyrus, who died Nov. 22, 1992.

He worked at Blair Cedar Company, Camdenton, for 33 years as a machine operator. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Macks Creek.

Survivors include: one son, Danny Webster, Macks Creek; one daughter, Rebecca Lynn, Macks Creek; two brothers, Russell Webster, Osceola, and Mack Webster, Richland; four sisters, Dorothy Burns and Nancy Sherwin, both of Camdenton, Freda Stoufer, Bolivar, and Helen Morris, Fair Grove; and nine grandchildren.

One son, Jackie David Webster, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Macks Creek. The Rev. Dinzel Webb will officiate. Burial will be in Macks Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Hedges Funeral Home, Macks Creek.
