WILLIAMS
Myrtle Dell Williams, 66, Fulton, died Sept. 2, 2001, at the University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.
She was born Nov. 27, 1934, in Callaway County, a daughter of Eva Langley. She was married to Charles Irvin Williams, who died Sept. 11, 1991.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include: three sons, James L. Williams, Donald Ray Williams and Howard W. Williams, all of Fulton; four daughters, Patricia Ann Williams, Henrietta Sue Williams and Debra K. Dickens, all of Fulton, and Diana Lyne Shafer, Sturgeon; one sister, Joy Watson; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Rita Faye Williams, and one grandchild preceded her in death.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Bull Cemetery, near Holts Summit. The Rev. Mike Haldeman will officiate.
Visitation will be from 1-1:45 p.m. Thursday at the Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton.
Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Assn.
SOPPELSA
Alfred Soppelsa, 89, Versailles, died Sept. 2, 2001, at Good Shepherd Care Center, Versailles.
He was born May 4, 1912, in Umhausen, Austria, a son of Rudolph and Anna Zwanz Soppelsa. He was married Feb. 14, 1987, in Versailles, to Henrietta Shanks, who survives at the home.
He came to the United States in 1938. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
He lived in Michigan before moving to Gravois Mills in 1986. He moved to Versailles in 1998.
He had worked as a florist. He also farmed and was a school bus driver while living in Michigan.
Other survivors include: one son, Tony Soppelsa, Lawrence, Mich.; one stepson, Arthur Anthony, Lebanon; one daughter, Rita Soppelsa, Lawrence, Mich.; two stepdaughters, Susan Evans, Rolla, and Mary Jane Lawson, Gravois Mills; and one sister, Resi Soppelsa, Brixen, Italy.
He was cremated. No services are planned.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Scrivener-Morrow Funeral Home, Versailles.
DAKE
Services were today for Norma Dake, 72, Vienna, who died Sept. 1, 2001, at Maries Manor Health Care Center, Vienna.
She was born July 5, 1929, in Maries County, a daughter of Theron and Lillian Juergens Ellis. She was married May 7, 1949, in Iberia, to Paul Dake, who survives at the home.
She worked as a school teacher and was a member of the Vienna United Methodist Church.
Other survivors include: one son, Scott Dake, Vienna; one daughter, Karen Luecke, Lake Ozark; one sister, Louise French, Vienna; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services were at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna. The Rev. Karen Alden officiated. Burial was in the Vienna Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Muscular Dystrophy Research or the Vienna Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
GERLT
Services were today for Sally E. Gerlt, 89, Versailles, who died Sept. 2, 2001, at Good Shepherd Care Center Versailles.
She was born June 6, 1912, in Glensted, a daughter of Charles M. and Martha A. Lyles Woolery. She was married June 3, 1934, to Walter C.D. Gerlt, who died Dec. 17, 1991.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of Glensted United Methodist Church, Versailles, since 1921, and taught Sunday school classes.
She was a member of Glensted United Methodist Women, the Prairie View Club and the Lonestar Club. She was active with the 4-H Club.
Survivors include: three sons, Charles C. Gerlt, Tipton, John W. Gerlt, Versailles, and Richard E. Gerlt, Gravois Mills; one brother, Lyles Woolery, Versailles; five grandsons; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were at Glensted United Methodist Church. The Rev. Gailya Dow officiated. Burial was in Glensted Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Glensted United Methodist Church Building Fund.
Arrangements were under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.
LONG
Barbara Ann Long, 48, Rolla, formerly of Holts Summit, died Sept. 2, 2001, at the University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.
She was born June 24, 1953, in Arkansas City, Kan., a daughter of Bob and Maxine Bailey Scott. Her father survives in Arkansas City. She was married March 17, 1975, in Little Rock, Ark., to Glennon Long Jr., who survives at home.
She worked for Marriott Food Service at the University of Missouri-Rolla and Great Scott Texaco, Holts Summit. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary and was a Lady Shriner.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Angela Toman, Salem, Pam Williams, Rolla, and Tammy Long, Bolivar; one son, Thomas Long, Holts Summit; six brothers, Bob Scott, Arkansas City, David Scott, Rick Scott and Kevin Scott, all of Holts Summit, Danny Scott, Arkansas City, and Steve Scott, Phoenix, Ariz.; four sisters, Sue Scott, Holts Summit, Sandy Kauffman, Bullhead, Ariz., Becky Imhoff, Jefferson City, and Patty Mathews, Wellborn, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
Two sons, Glennon Long III and Glennon Long IV, and one daughter, Sheila Jo Long, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, the Rolla Rural Fire Department, or the charity of the donor's choice.
HARBISON
Chester Ray Harbison, 88, Kansas City, Kan., died Aug. 31, 2001, at Providence Medical Center.
He was born a son of Clarence R. and LaVada (Giddens) Harbison. He was married to Alice Harbison, who preceded him in death. He was married to Betty Yates, who survives at the home.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Betty Madrid, Shawnee Mission, Kan.; one son, Robert Harbison, Lawton, Okla.; two granddaughters and four great-granddaughters.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Eldon.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at Geo. F. Porter and Son Funeral Home, Kansas City, Kan.
Local arrangements are under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.
GIBB
Alma R. Tremain Gibb, 93, Jefferson City, died Sept. 1, 2001, at Jefferson City Manor Care Center.
She was born Sept. 23, 1907, in Mint Hill, a daughter of Samuel and Lucy Johns Boyce. She was married Oct. 4, 1924, to Clarence E. Tremain, who died Sept. 29, 1963. She was married Dec. 21, 1968, to Bert Matthes, who died July 7, 1984. She was married Sept. 26, 1986, to C. Allen Gibb, who died July 7, 1997.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church and Victoria Chapter 14, Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include: one son, Richard Tremain, Jefferson City; one daughter, Marlene R. Bussard, Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Elizabeth "Betty" McTimmonds, Jefferson City; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Two sons, Elmer E. Tremain and Ray E. Tremain, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. Tom Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
BULL
Minnie Bull, 80, Dixon, died Sept. 5, 2001, at her home.
She was born Dec. 20, 1920, in Maries County, a daughter of Louis R. and Maie Elva Traister Eads. She was married Sept. 26, 1940, in Vienna, to Thomas Clinton Bull, who died March 23, 1981.
She attended Kenner Church of God, near Dixon. She worked for 26 years at the Brown Shoe Company, Dixon, retiring in 1982. She worked as a custodian for the Maries County Courthouse in Vienna for nine years.
Survivors include: two sons, Olen Bull and Elmer Bull, both of Dixon; three brothers, Alfred Eads, Raymond Lee Eads and Edwin Eads, all of Union; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
One son, Richard Dale Bull, and one granddaughter preceded her in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna. The Rev. James D. Bailey will officiate. Burial will be in Kenner Cemetery, near Dixon.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today and from 1-2 p.m. Friday.
