HYSON

Maxine E. Hyson, 78,  Jefferson City, died May 24, 1999, at the Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.

She was born Sept. 24, 1920, in Waukegan, Ill., a daughter of John and Cleda Van Gilder Dorsey. She was married Dec. 3, 1939, in Mound City, Kan., to Carl Roy Hyson, who died Jan. 9, 1960.

She graduated from Blue Mound High School in Blue Mound, Kan. She was co-owner of Kincaid Lumber Yard and Elevator, Kincaid, Kan., from 1949 to 1971.

From 1971 until 1989, she was employed by the state of Kansas in Topeka.

She has been a resident of the  Jefferson City area since 1989.

She was a member of the Fairlawn Heights Wesleyen Church, Topeka, Kan.

She was a member and volunteer with the Capital Region Medical Center Auxiliary and a volunteer with the American Red Cross.

Survivors include: one daughter, Carlene Parker, Holts Summit; three grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

One son, Billy Gene Hyson, died May 12, 1972.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Pleasant View Cemetery, Blue Mound.

Memorials are suggested to Brenna Siebert Memorial Fund, 2033 W. Main St.,  Jefferson City, Mo. 65109, or the Humane Society of the United States, c/o Robin Bacon, 2100 L. St. N.W., Washington , D.C. 20037.

Arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

MEYER

Joshua Ryan Meyer, 3,  Jefferson City, died May 23, 1999, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.

He was born July 31, 1995, in  Jefferson City, a son of Jon and Kimberly Ann Adams Meyer. His parents survive at the home.

He attended Playhouse Pre-School and was active in Cub Scout Pack 333.

Other survivors include: one brother, Justin Meyer, of the home; paternal grandparents, Roy and Gloria Meyer,  Jefferson City; maternal grandparents, H. Paul and Ruth Adams, Big Springs; and paternal great-grandmother, Dora Krueger, Hermann.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. Lawrence Veatch will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to Cub Scout Pack 333.

SUDBROCK

Erna Ann Helms Sudbrock, 88, Camdenton, died May 23, 1999, at Windsor Estate Nursing Home, Camdenton.

She was born April 28, 1911, in Climax Springs, a daughter of Ernest B. and Martha Ann Green Howard. She was married Aug. 12, 1942, in Warsaw, to Harley S. Helms, who died Nov. 10, 1984. She was married Dec. 15, 1988, in Sedalia, to Forrest Sudbrock, who survives.

She was a member of Rebekah Lodge 464, Linn Creek, and was a past state officer and past district president of the Rebekah Lodge. She was a member of the South Camdenton Club, Garden Club and Camdenton United Methodist Church. She worked as a telephone operator.

Other survivors include: eight daughters, Helen McLeod, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Mildred Miller, Cape Coral, Fla., Virginia Deering, Seattle, Bernadine Randal, Sun City, Ariz., Geraldine McGuire, Kansas City, Jean Claiborn, Springfield, Charlene Sudbrock, Columbia, and Felicia Gibbs, Camdenton; two brothers, Jimmie Howard and Boss W. "Jack" Howard, both of Camdenton; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

One grandson preceded her in death.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton. The Rev. Marc Magana will officiate. Burial will be in Dale Blair Cemetery, Camdenton.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

THOMPSON

Carl J. Thompson, 70, Independence, died May 22, 1999, at Independence Regional Hospital.

He was born Nov. 8, 1928, in Sheldon, a son of Earl A. and Lucille Serene Henson Thompson. He was married Dec. 23, 1955, in Independence, to Mavis Beatrice Sears, who survives at the home.

He was a Navy veteran. He was employed as a steel worker at Black, Sivell and Bryson; Armco Steel Corp.; and Wire Corporation of America until his retirement in 1993.

He was a member of United Steel Workers Union Local Chapter 13 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Melinda Lynne Loethen,  Jefferson City; one sister, Marie Hagerman, Blue Springs; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Funeral Home, Kansas City. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Kansas City.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

JEFFRIES

David E. Jeffries, 56, Lebanon, died May 23, 1999, at Breech Regional Medical Center, Lebanon.

He was born Aug. 12, 1942, in Lebanon, a son of Earl V. and Ruth Farmer Jeffries. He was married Sept. 23, 1967, to Judy O'Dell, who survives at the home.

A graduate of Lebanon High School and Southwest Missouri State University, he was manager of the Missouri Division of Employment Security in Lebanon and Camdenton. He had worked in the Employment Security office in Lebanon since 1966.

He was a member of White Oak Pond Cumberland Presbyterian Church, near Lebanon, and the Lebanon Lions Club. He served in the Missouri National Guard.

Other survivors include: one son, Craig Jeffries, Overland Park, Kan.; and one brother, Jim Jeffries,  Jefferson City.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at White Oak Pond Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Tony Janner and the Rev. Theron McCloud will officiate. Burial will be in White Oak Pond Cemetery, near Lebanon.

Visitation began at noon today at Colonial Funeral Chapel, Lebanon.

Memorials are suggested to White Oak Pond Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

MATHENEY

Gerald D. "J.D." Matheney, 29,  Jefferson City, died May 21, 1999, in Centertown.

He was born Aug. 29, 1969, in Boone County, a son of Elvin F. Woody and Vaunitta Sue Matheney. His mother and stepfather, Vaunitta Sue Matheney and Bradley C. White , survive in  Jefferson City. He was married May 13, 1989, to Shannon Leigh Moidt, who survives.

A graduate of  Jefferson City High School, he was a construction laborer and a member of the Wayfarer Pentecostal Church of God.

Other survivors include: one son, Joshua Duwayne Matheney,  Jefferson City; two stepsons, Jason Davis and Benjamine Davis, both of Centertown; two sisters, Anita Matheney, Centertown, and Mary Matheney, Freeburg; two half brothers, James Woody, Tulsa, Okla., and Derice Woody,  Jefferson City; and one half sister, Jeanice Woody, Tulsa, Okla.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Burial will be in Longview Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

McNEIVE

Robert "Bob" McNeive, 73, Camdenton, died May 24, 1999, at his home.

He was born April 22, 1926, in Delia, Kan., a son of Edward A. and Elizabeth Failer McNeive. He was married to Myrtle S. Lassen, who survives at the home.

He was raised in Topeka and Dover, Kan. He moved in the Lake area in 1967.

He was a salesman for Moore's Lumberyard, Laurie. He farmed and owner and operated the Dogwood Cafe and Motel, Sunrise Beach. He was member of Knights of Columbus, American Legion and St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Camdenton. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Other survivors include: four sons, Ronald D. McNeive, Versailles, Michael L. McNeive, Daytona, Texas , Robert A. McNeive, Splendar, Texas , and Patrick D. McNeive, Pleasant Hope; and five grandchildren.

One daughter, Donna S. McNeive, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Camdenton. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Laurie.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton, with a rosary at 7 p.m.

ELDRED

Orie Samuel Eldred, 82, Macks Creek, died May 24, 1999, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Springfield.

He was born July 12, 1916, in Macks Creek, a son of Roy R. and Iva Williams Eldred. He was married March 7, 1936, to Mildred Eidson, who survives at the home.

He was a lifelong member of Macks Creek Baptist Church, and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of VFW Post 3600, Climax Springs. He was a member of Macks Creek Masonic Lodge 433 for more than 50 years and served on the Macks Creek City Council. He worked as a carpenter.

Other survivors include: two sons, Richard Eldred, Raytown, and Clifford Eldred, Independence; two daughters, Wanda Bates, Macks Creek, and Carol Bonner, Macks Creek; one sister, Hilda Ruth Wallace, Louisburg; 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Macks Creek. The Rev. Dinzel Webb and the Rev. Gary Golston will officiate. Burial will be in Macks Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hedges Funeral Home, Macks Creek, with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church Fellowship Building Fund, Macks Creek.

EGGEN

Bernice Eggen, 74,  Jefferson City, died May 25, 1999, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 19, 1925, in  Jefferson City, a daughter of Louis H. and Euphemia Dudenhoeffer Rost. She was married June 16, 1951, in  Jefferson City, to Harold Eggen, who survives at the home.

She was a graduate of St. Peters High School. She worked for Exchange Bank until 1952, and co-owned Eggen Jewelers from 1963 to 1996.

She was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral, Meadow Lake Acres Country Club, Dan C. Coppin Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and several area bridge clubs.

Other survivors include: four sons, Frank Eggen, Roanoke, Va., and Don Eggen, Gary Eggen and Tom Eggen, all of  Jefferson City; one daughter, Janet Johnson,  Jefferson City; two brothers, the Rev. Louis Rost, M.M., Taiwan, R.O.C., and Joseph Rost, San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Catherine Mueller, Belleville, Ill., and Sr. Anna Marie Rost, M.M., Monrovia, Calif.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Twin daughters, Mary Ann Eggen and Mary Catherine Eggen, died in July 1965.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Cathedral. The Rev. Michael Wilbers will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 8 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Carmelite Monastery.
