CLAIBORN

Nan E. Claiborn, 87, Buffalo, died Sept. 29, 2001, at the University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

She was born Feb. 25, 1914, in Camden County, a daughter of Millard F. and Nellie May Pope Emry. She was married May 5, 1940, to Buford Claiborn, who died in November 1962.

She graduated from Richland High School in 1932. She was a teacher in area rural schools for the next several years. She later moved to Buffalo where she co-owned an insurance agency. She was a member of Brumley Baptist Church, Camden County Historical Society and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Survivors include: one stepdaughter, Margarett Germann, Huntsville, Ala.; three sisters, Mary Lee Emry and Tom Ann Wilson, both of Montreal, and Don Scrivner, Lebanon; seven step grandchildren; and step great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton. The Rev. Billy Claiborn will officiate. Burial will be in Freedom Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the Camdenton Scholarship Fund.

COOTS

Doyle W. Coots Sr., 65, Centertown, died Sept. 30, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Sept. 4, 1936, in Konawa, Okla., a son of William W. and Lucille Norman Coots. His mother, Lucille Norman Stieferman, survives in Centertown. He was married April 23, 1971, in  Jefferson City, to Nadine F. Baker, who survives at the home.

He attended school in Redondo Beach, Calif., and graduated from Wayne School for Refrigeration and Heating/Cooling, Chicago. An Army veteran, he worked for Beach Heating Co.,  Jefferson City, and Twin City Inc., California, for 27 years.

He was a member of Capital West Christian Church, where he was a deacon and recently an elder of the church; Trout Unlimited; American Legion Post 531, Centertown; and a former member of the Hwy. 54 Church of Christ and Capital City Christian Church.

Other survivors include: one son, Doyle Coots Jr., state of Texas ; one daughter, Mary Jo Woltering, Ottumwa, Iowa; one sister, JoAnn Riley, Centertown; one stepbrother, Carolis "Butch" Stieferman, Centertown; one stepsister, Wynona "Boots" Hinton, Centertown; and four grandchildren

One son, Roy Alan Coots, died Oct. 9, 1983. One grandson preceded him in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Capital West Christian Church. The Rev. Ken Harland, Mark Landis and Rick Yoder will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Centertown Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California.

HOELSCHER

Rose Bernadine Mary Hoelscher, 83,  Jefferson City, died Sept. 30, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 4, 1918, in Westphalia, a daughter of Peter J. and Elizabeth Crede Brune. She was married in 1942, in St. Louis, to Edgar Vincent Hoelscher, who died in January, 1984.

She was a graduate of Westphalia High School. A homemaker, she had served as a practical nurse at St. Marys Health Center. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.

Survivors include one son, Paul V. Hoelscher,  Jefferson City, one daughter, Agatha M. Cato, North Augusta, S.C., and four grandchildren.

One infant son, Ralph Hoelscher, and one infant daughter, Frances Rose Hoelscher, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Westphalia.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Foundation.

LUTTRELL

Robbie Dale Luttrell, 31, Iberia, died Sept. 29, 2001, in Iberia.

He was born July 27, 1970, in Iberia, a son of Basil and Patsy Alexander Luttrell. His mother and stepfather, Patsy and Leonard Sien, survive in Lebanon. He was married Sept. 7, 1991, in Iberia, to Dana Graves, who survives at the home.

A 1989 graduate of Iberia High School, he was owner and operator of K&L Construction, Iberia. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Iberia, where he played on the softball team. He was a leader of the Assembly of God Royal Rangers.

Other survivors include: three sons, Ethan Luttrell, Holden Luttrell and Ryan Luttrell, all of the home; two brothers, Johnny Luttrell and Nicky Luttrell, both of Brumley; and two sisters, Corlis Gaines, Nixa, and Twyla Warman, Iberia.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Assembly of God Church, Iberia. The Rev. Jeff Higbie and the Rev. Randy Hoffman will officiate. Burial will be in Madden Cemetery, near Iberia.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia.

Memorials are suggested to the Luttrell Children Education Fund.

NIXON

Larry W. Nixon, 56, Columbia, died Sept. 29, 2001, at St. John's Mercy Hospital, Washington .

He was born Jan. 4, 1945, in Washington , a son of Orville and Callie Hiatt Nixon. He was married June 1, 1974, to Patti Baer, who survives in New Haven. He was married March 17, 2000, in Boonville, to Jarhonda Powell, who survives in Columbia.

He was employed as a cook.

Other survivors include: six sons, Larry R. Nixon and William Nixon, both of  Jefferson City, Randall Nixon, New Haven, and Justin Hook, Matthew Hook and Nathaniel Hook, all of Eldon; two daughters, Jessica Norem, New Haven, and Lavonna Nixon,  Jefferson City; eight brothers, Kenny Nixon, Eddie Nixon, Mike Nixon, Richard Hertzing and Robin Hertzing, all of Columbia, Billy Joe Nixon, Mayo, Fla., Allen Nixon, Russellville, and Raymond Nixon, Rhineland; six sisters, Sharon Brandt, Washington , Judy Whittley, St. Clair, Rita Nole, Columbia, Glenda Golden, Lake of the Ozarks, Lori Mealey, Williamsburg, and Pam Nixon, Washington ; and 11 grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven. The Rev. Elvis Lee will officiate. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery, New Haven.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

PETROVICH

Michael G. Petrovich, 86, Lake Ozark, died Sept. 29, 2001, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach.

He was born Oct. 24, 1914, in Gary, Ind., a son of Lewis and Mary Stamper Petrovich. He was married June 15, 1938, to Georgianna Hoshaw, who survives in Lake Ozark.

He retired from Inland Steel Harbor Works, East Chicago, Ind., in 1976. He was active in Local 1010 of USWA and SOAR. He also was a member of Inland Steel 25 years Retirement Club.

Other survivors include: two sons, Michael Petrovich and Dan Petrovich, both of Lake Ozark; one daughter, Eva Worsley, Crown Point, Ind.; two sisters, Rosemary Petrovich, Crown Point, and Dorthea Petrovich, Conifer, Colo.; one brother, Tony Petrovich, Crown Point; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Services will be at 7 p.m. today at Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach. Msgr. Mike Wilbers will officiate.

Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

REED

Layton Reed, 78, California, died Sept. 29, 2001, at Tipton Manor, Tipton.

He was born Sept. 24, 1923, a son of Marvin and Bertha Chambers Reed. He was married Feb. 9, 1946, in California, to Beulah Beutler, who survives at the home.

A 1941 graduate of California High School, California, he attended Stevenson's Auto Body School, Kansas City. An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he worked for Emerson Electric, St. Louis, and Todd-Hogge Ford and Dutcher Paint, both of California. He was co-owner of Lehman and Reed Body Shop, California. He was manager of Bixler Gas Company, California, for 20 years before retiring in 1984.

He was a member of VFW Post 4345, California. He also was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a former member of Kiwanis Club, California Chamber of Commerce, California Rural Fire Department, Moniteau County Fair Board and Missouri and National Horseshoe Pitchers' Associations.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Debbie Sparks, California, and Lee Ann Nivens, Jamestown; one sister, Mary Diesing, St. Louis; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, California. The Rev. Greg Morrow will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in California City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church, California, with a VFW service at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be from 6-11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church.

Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 208 South Oak St., California, Mo., 65018; the American Cancer Society c/o Judy Allee, P.O. Box 333, Latham, Mo., 65050; or the charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California.

WHITE

Velma L. White , 87, Eldon, died Sept. 29, 2001, in Eldon.

She was born Aug. 27, 1914, in Olean, a daughter of Lon and Cirelda Selix Coffman. She was married Dec. 15, 1932, in California, to Elisha White , who died Jan. 19, 1987.

She worked at Glaser Brothers Pants Factory, Eldon. She was a lifetime member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church and was a member of the Mt. Herman Homemakers Club.

Survivors include one daughter, Betty Crouch, Olean, three grandchildren and three great-grandsons.

Private graveside services will be at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday in Allen Cemetery, Olean. The Rev. Jim McDonald will officiate.

Private visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

Memorials are suggested to Barnett Baptist Church.
