BURNETT

Herman Burnett, 90, Kaiser, died Sept. 30, 2001, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach.

He was born Aug. 9, 1911, in Sedalia, a son of Charles R. and Ida Hallie McMillan Burnett. He was married May 3, 1936, in Kaiser, to Agnes Shivers, who died Nov. 18, 1989.

He was a member of First Assembly of God Church, Camdenton. He worked at Osage Products in Eldon for 25 years as a machine operator.

Survivors include: two sons, Donald Burnett, Kaiser, and Harvey Burnett,  Jefferson City; one daughter, Phyllis Barnes, Kaiser; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach. Pastor Clifford Canon will officiate. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery, Kaiser.

Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Wednesday.

FALTER

Mary M. Falter, 95, Freeburg, died Sept. 30, 2001, at Green Meadows Care Center, Linn.

She was born July 19, 1905, in Freeburg, a daughter of Conrad and Antonette Laubert Falter.

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, and worked as a housekeeper. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include one brother, Leo Falter, Bridgeton.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg. The Rev. Mike Murphy will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Freeburg.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today with a prayer service at 8 p.m., and from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.

Memorials are suggested to Masses or the Holy Family Parish.

GOWIN

Frank E. Gowin, 69, Fulton, died Oct. 1, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Aug. 18, 1932, in Williamsburg, a son of Frank L. and Cordie Bentley Gowin. He was married in 1953, in Fulton, to Faye Mirts, who survives at the home.

He owned and operated a salvage and wrecker business at his home.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Cindy Crabtree, Fulton; three sisters, Ruby Wheat and Daisy Perry, both of Fulton, and Annabelle Brandonberg, Wellsville; four brothers, Bob Gowin and J.T. Gowin, both of Fulton, Richard Gowin, state of California, and Roy Gowin, state of Wisconsin; and three grandchildren.

One son, Mark David Gowin, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. Lewis Curtis will officiate. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

HARRIS

Bertha Mae Harris, 87, Bolivar, formerly of Fulton, died Sept. 30, 2001, at Parkview Healthcare, Bolivar.

She was born April 30, 1914, in Fulton, a daughter of Charles E. and Neely Ann Hughes Lander. She was married Dec. 21, 1929, in Fulton, to James Frank Harris, who died Aug. 21, 1985.

She was a member of Southside Baptist Church, Fulton, and worked as a nurse aide at Fulton State Hospital.

Survivors include: one son, Charles W. Harris, Pittsburg; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

One son, Frank David Harris, one daughter, Bessie Elizabeth Johnson, and one grandson preceded her in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. Pastor Mike Crowson will officiate. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

McKINNEY

Gayle R. McKinney, 85, Mexico, formerly of  Jefferson City, died Oct. 1, 2001, at Pin Oaks Nursing Center, Mexico.

He was born May 12, 1916, in Johntown, Texas , a son of George B. and Juliet Abbie Brunk McKinney. He was married Aug. 17, 1945, in Rockville, Md., to Leona Ellen Rippeto, who survives.

He worked at A.P. Green Refractories for 26 years, retiring in 1972. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the DAV.

Other survivors include: two sons, Ronald G. McKinney, Mexico, and Stanley E. McKinney, Pensacola, Fla.; one daughter, Barbara J. McKinney, St. Charles; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Pickering Funeral Home, Mexico. Marvine Toll will officiate. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials are suggested to the Missouri Veterans Home Residents Fund, 1 Veterans Dr., Mexico, Mo. 65265.

THORNE

Dolores Ann Thorne, 58, Chillicothe, died Oct. 1, 2001, at Indian Hills Retirement Village, Chillicothe.

She was born May 14, 1943, in Kansas City, a daughter of Marvin and Mary K. Holcer Albertson. Her father survives in Wheeling. She was married Oct. 1, 1961, in Wheeling, to Ronald C. Thorne.

She was a 1961 graduate of Wheeling High School. She worked for Hedrick Medical Center as a laboratory technician since 1973.

Other survivors include: three sons, Timothy R. Thorne, Jamestown, Terry Patrick Thorne, Meadville, and Michael James Thorne, Hamilton; one daughter, Jennie Diane Anderson, Ludlow; one brother, Terry Albertson, Wheeling; two sisters, Diane Jackson, Chillicothe, and Teresa Neely, Sedalia; and nine grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Columbans Church, Chillicothe. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery, Chula.

A parish rosary will be at 7 p.m. today followed by a visitation at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe.

Memorials are suggested to Bishop Hogan School or the Hedrick Medical Center Home Health Hospice.

TURK

William E. Turk, 86, Sunrise Beach, died Sept. 29, 2001, at Golden Age Living Center, Stover.

He was born July 14, 1915, in Pittsburg, Kan., a son of Sam and Dora Wright Turk. He was married June 8, 1940, to Wilma Clary, who died Dec. 22, 1978. He was married April 29, 1982, to Helen Faye Wollard, who survives at the home.

He was a graduate of Clinton High School. He worked as an insurance agent for National Life and Accident Insurance Company, Sedalia, for five years. He was a lineman for Missouri Public Service, Sedalia, until retiring in 1980 as the line foreman.

He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Sedalia, for more than 50 years and the Sedalia Masonic Lodge. He was president of IBEW Local 814, Sedalia, and served as president and treasurer of the Sedalia Boat Club, Sunrise Beach.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Sue Friedly, Sedalia, and Kenna Williams, Excelsior Springs; two sons, Jim Fithian, Port Wynemy, Calif., and Mark Purcell, Bonner Springs, Kan.; one sister, Gloria Root, Livonia, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Wesley United Methodist Church, Sedalia. The Rev. Frederick Zahn will officiate. The remains were cremated. Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery, Clinton.

Visitation will be from 3-4 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the Golden Age Living Center, Stover, or the Sedalia Animal Shelter.

Arrangements are under the direction of Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Versailles.

KATTELMANN

Helen Jean Kattelmann, 71, Camdenton, died Oct. 1, 2001, at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia.

Arrangements are incomplete at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California.

DAY

Graveside services were Sept. 28, 2001, in Salem, for Ava Lorraine Day, 90,  Jefferson City, who died Sept. 25, 2001, in  Jefferson City.

She was born April 2, 1911, in Dents Ford, a daughter of Marshall and Olivia Clinton Dent. She was married June 9, 1950, to Claude E. Day, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son, Claude Day, Hartsburg, one granddaughter and three great-grandchildren.

Services were in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Salem. The Rev. Rod Farthing officiated.

Arrangements were under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home, Salem.
