JACOBS
Donnie J. Jacobs, 59, Tebbetts, died Oct. 3, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born Sept. 27, 1942, in Lohman, a son of Charles Sr. and Rose Bolton Jacobs. He was married Sept. 5, 1964, in Kansas City, to Joyce Barger, who survives at the home.
A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, he attended Russellville High School, Russellville.
An Army veteran, he had been employed with the Missouri House of Representatives for the past 21 years. He was a member of the American Legion, Roscoe Enloe Post 5.
Other survivors include: one son, Jerry L. Jacobs, Holts Summit; one daughter, Sherry K. Necaise, Tebbetts; two brothers, Carley Jacobs, Phoenix, and Charles Jacob Jr., California; five sisters, Vera Stubinger, Lohman, Bertha Sanford, Tebbetts, Angeline Kloeppel, Mayview, Mary Walton, Summer, Ark., and Alberta Harris, Bevier; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. Rob Fields will officiate. Graveside services with military honors will be in Riverview Cemetery, Tebbetts.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
PITTMAN
Services were Sept. 20, 2001, for Maj. Gen. Don D. Pittman, USAF Ret., 75, Gold River, Calif., who died Sept. 11, 2001, at his home.
He was born Oct. 31, 1925, in Jefferson City, a son of Effie Ottman. He was married in June 1960, in Carson City, Nevada, to G. Arlene Pittman, who died in 1999.
He graduated from St. Peter's High School in 1943, attended Michigan State University and received a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Omaha. A Vietnam War veteran, he entered the military services in 1943 and served until his retirement in 1978. He was a command pilot. He served as flight commander; NATO project officer; chief of safety for Air Material Forces, European Area; operations officer; inspector general; deputy commander of operations; and commander of several bases.
He attended the Air Tactical School, Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla., and graduated from the Air Command and Staff College and the Air War College, both in Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala. He received the Bronze Star Medal.
Services were at East Lawn Mortuary, Sacramento, Calif. Military graveside services were in Sierra Hills Memorial Park.

SIMMONS
Faye Dawson Simmons, 84, Macks Creek, died Oct. 2, 2001, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach.
She was born April 16, 1917, in Macks Creek, a daughter of Alfred M. and Ollie Jane Lynch Parrack. She was married Sept. 26, 1936, to Teddy Aubrey Dawson, who died May 27, 1975. She was married Aug. 13, 1977, to Vernal Darrel Simmons, who survives at the home.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Macks Creek.
Other survivors include: three sons, Leon Dawson, Lavon Dawson and Teddy Lynn Dawson, all of Macks Creek; one daughter, Laveta Eidson, Macks Creek; three stepsons, Newel Simmons, Bernie Simmons and Keith Simmons; four stepdaughters, Margaret Allen, Hellen Blakey, Mollie McPheeters and Katie Moulder; two brothers, Bert Parrack, Tunas, and Bill Parrack, Macks Creek; one sister, Erma D. Hicks, Buffalo; 10 grandchildren; 25 step grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and step great-grandchildren.
One stepdaughter, Treva Woodling, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Donald Leap and the Rev. Larry Denny will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Hedges Funeral Home, Macks Creek.
SCHRIEFER
Leta Ova Schriefer, 92, Jefferson City, died Oct. 10, 2001, at Oak Tree Villas.
She was born Feb. 28, 1909, in Monroe City, a daughter of Will and Rose Jones Farthing. She was married Dec. 29, 1933, in Kansas City, to Alfred Friedrich Schriefer, who died Dec. 31, 1954.
A graduate of Salisbury High School, Salisbury, she also was a graduate of Columbia Christian College and the Kirksville State Teachers College.
A homemaker, she had been employed as a school teacher in the Salisbury public schools. She worked for the Division of Employment Security until her retirement. She was a member of First Christian Church.
Survivors include: one son, Charles Friedrich Schriefer, Omaha, Neb.; one daughter, Shirley Ann Bemboom, New Orleans; one sister, Neva M. Myers, Moberly; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
One son, Herbert Alfred Schriefer, died Dec. 7, 1999.
Graveside services and burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Riverview Cemetery. The Rev. Lawrence Veatch will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Buescher Memorial Home.
Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church.
SALING
Cecil Saling, 99, Mokane, died Oct. 10, 2001, at his home.
He was born Oct. 9, 1902, in Sue City, a son of John W. and Alice Rebecca Snow Saling. He was married Oct. 26, 1932, in Fulton, to Frances Levene Derleth, who survives.
He attended schools in Cottenrock, Holman, Acorn and Thornhill. He served on the Thornhill and Mokane school boards for 20 years. He was a farmer, worked on the railroad and served as a dorm parent for the Missouri School for the Deaf for seven years.
He was president of the Mokane Lions Club. He was a member of the Mokane Christian Church and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Other survivors include: two sons, Louis Wesley Saling and Charles C. Saling, both of Tooele, Utah; two daughters, Dora Weems, Mokane, and Darlene Gubler, Salt Lake City; one sister, Veta Dickson, Fulton; 24 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Fulton. Burial will be in Mokane Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton, and from 12:30-1:45 p.m. Saturday at the church.
CREAMER
Lydia Creamer, 89, Willard, formerly of Dixon, died Oct. 9, 2001, at Willard Care Center.
She was born Aug. 28, 1912, in Miller County, a daughter of Benjamin and Amanda Vaughan Dodds. She was married April 3, 1937, in Vienna, to Marvin W. Creamer, who died March 15, 1985.
She was a member of Dixon United Methodist Church, and also attended Willard United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: one son, Kenneth Creamer, Wellington, Kan.; one daughter, Linda Creamer, Willard; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon. The Rev. Gary Griffen and the Rev. Wilbur Warman will officiate. Burial will be in Dixon Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today and from 1-2 p.m. Friday.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association or to Dixon United Methodist Church.
TRACY
Tommy E. Tracy, 53, Barnett, died Oct. 10, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.
Arrangements are incomplete at Rekus Funeral Home, Eldon.
RICHIE
Carolyn J. Richie, 57, Clearwater, died Oct. 17, 2001, at her home.
She was born Jan. 24, 1944, in St. Louis, a daughter of Clifford J. "Foxy" and Jane R. Sutter York. Her mother survives near Stover. She was married Aug. 10, 1962, to William C. Richie Jr., who survives at the home.
A 1962 graduate of Southwest High School, St. Louis, she was a homemaker. She had lived in Eureka.
Other survivors include: two sons, William C. Richie, Pacific, and Robert C. Richie, Kirkwood; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Stover.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
BERENDZEN
Donald A. Berendzen, 71, Eldon, died Oct. 17, 2001, in Jefferson City.
He was born Nov. 7, 1929, in Rich Fountain, a son of Joseph F. and Elizabeth Mary Boitel Berendzen. He was married Oct. 8, 1955, in Eldon, to Nina Ruth Crane, who survives at the home.
A Navy veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Eldon, the Knights of Columbus, Fraternal Order of Eagles and VFW Post 2442.
He retired after 32 years from Missouri State Highway Department, Eldon, as a shed foreman.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Deborah Thering, Independence; one son, Donald R. Berendzen, Rocky Mount; one sister, Betty Lepper, Eugene; three brothers, Wayne Berendzen, Corvallis, Mont., Stanley Berendzen, Gakona, Alaska, and Harold Berendzen, Eldon; and one grandson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. James J. O'Sullivan will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon, with a rosary at 7 p.m.
