Carmel A. Vieth, 75, Jefferson City, died Oct. 19, 2001, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.

GRIFFIN
Carol Louise Griffin, 73, Mascoutah, Ill., died Oct. 17, 2001, at Community Care Center of Mar-Ka, Mascoutah.
She was born Sept. 16, 1928, in Granite City, Ill., a daughter of Herbert K. "Bert" and Sadie C. Brockman Griffin.
She was a lifelong resident of Illinois.
She is survived by one brother, Robert K. Griffin, Jefferson City.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Irwin Chapel, Granite City.
CARTER
Russell G. Carter, 86, Saddlebrooke, Ariz., formerly of Jefferson City, died Oct. 14, 2001, at his home.
He was born July 29, 1915, in Cypress, Ill., a son of Harvey and Cora Carter. He was married to Dorothy Ruth Zerweck, who survives.
He received an accounting degree from Southern Illinois University and taught high school in Nashville, Ill. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a manager at National Cash Register in St. Louis, Jefferson City, Des Moines, Denver, Pittsburgh, Washington D.C., Oklahoma City, and Davis, Calif., for 35 years. He was a Mason, Shriner and Rotarian.
Other survivors include: two sons, Dr. L. Philip Carter and Dr. John Z. Carter, both of Tucson, Ariz.; six grandchildren, two step grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at SaddleBrooke Country Club.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

PALMER
Ray E. Palmer, 94, Anderson, S.C., died Oct. 19, 2001, in Anderson.
He was born Aug. 22, 1907, in Columbia, a son of Charles W. and Cora Pearl McCauley Palmer. He was married Oct. 31, 1925, in Jefferson City, to Mary Ruth Ballenger, who preceded him in death.
He was a retired farmer, restaurateur and city councilman for the city of Ashland. He was on the board of trustees at United Methodist Church, Williamston, S.C.
Survivors include: one daughter, Shirley Curry, Jefferson City; one son, William "Bud" Palmer, Anderson; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons and one grandchild.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Parker Funeral Service, Columbia. The Rev. Barbara A. Allen will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Columbia.
Visitation will be from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Friday.

HOLYCROSS
Thelma Deane Holycross, 96, Linn, died Oct. 23, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born Dec. 6, 1904, in Kansas City, a daughter of Hugo and Daisy Walker Doennecke. She was married Dec. 31, 1930, in Kansas City, to Walter Hobson Holycross, who died Sept. 11, 1977.
She attended Westport High School, Kansas City, the Kansas City Conservatory of Music, the Jane Hayes Gates Music Institute, Missouri University, Baldwin University and Columbia University. She was the choir director, organist and singer at Shawnee Mission Presbyterian Church, Shawnee Mission, Kan., for many years. She moved to Linn in 1975 and became the hostess for the Osage Senior Citizens Center.
A homemaker, she was a milliner and model for Swansons on the Plaza, Kansas City. She later worked as a sales associate at Union Clothing Company, Kansas City.
She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star in Kansas City, Chamois, Jefferson City and Linn for more than 60 years. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Linn.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Young, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
One granddaughter preceded her in death.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Morton Funeral Home, Linn. The Rev. Tony Townley will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Chamois.
Visitation will be from noon-1 p.m. Friday.
Memorials are suggested to St. John's United Methodist Church or the Osage County Senior Citizens Center.
TWYMAN
Rabon Virgel Twyman Jr., 44, Versailles, died Oct. 23, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born May 10, 1957, a son of Rabon Sr. and Mary Dillon Twyman. His father and stepmother, Rabon and Joanne Twyman, survive in Tipton. His mother and stepfather, Mary and John Loucks, survive in Sedalia. He was married in December 1989 to Camilla F. Vogt, who survives at the home.
He was a member of the Family Worship Center in Versailles.
Other survivors include: three sons, Rabon Twyman III, state of Pennsylvania , and Clarence Twyman and Zachary Twyman, both of the home; one daughter, Jamie Twyman, Oak Grove; one brother, Shawn Twyman, Farber; one sister, Brenda McChristian, Oak Grove; three stepbrothers, Jeff Loucks, Larry Loucks and Ronnie Loucks, all of Sedalia; one stepsister, Connie Vermillion, Warsaw; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Danny Owsley will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
BELLMAN
Agnes E. Bellman, 99, Jefferson City, died Oct. 23, 2001, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born July 21, 1902, in Cadet Creek, a daughter of John and Anna Ebert Mertens. She was married May 4, 1927, in Jefferson City, to Frank Bellman, who preceded her in death.
She attended school in Cadet Creek. A homemaker, she had been employed with International Shoe Factory until her retirement. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy Harris, Jefferson City, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peter Catholic Church. The Rev. Donald Lammers will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9-9:30 a.m. Friday at Buescher Memorial Home.
Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Catholic Church.
JENKINS
Services were Sept. 3, 2001, for Ethel M. Jenkins, 92, Jackson, Miss., formerly of Jefferson City, who died Sept. 1, 2001, in Jackson.
She was born June 1, 1909, in West Point, Miss., a daughter of Spencer and Mary Lamb Murphy. She was married in 1934 to John E. Wendleton, who died in 1947. She was married in 1951 to Donald B. Jenkins, who died in 1972.
She co-owned the Wendleton Insurance and Bonding Agency in Jefferson City.
Survivors include: two sons, John L. Wendleton, Hermann, and Dan S. Wendleton, Pensacola, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Margaret S. Dodson, Bellaire, Texas ; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
One grandson preceded her in death.
Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Grenada, Miss.
Arrangements were under the direction of Garner-Keene Funeral Home, Grenada.
