WILSON
Services were today for Herbert Herschel Wilson Sr., 91, Galena, Ill., formerly of California, who died Nov. 5, 2001, at Galena Stauss Hospital, Galena.
He was born Jan. 15, 1910, near Clarksburg, a son of James W. and Mary Lewis Broyles Wilson. He was married Dec. 29, 1932, to Helen E. Peters, who survives at the home.
He attended school in Clarksburg. A Navy veteran of World War II, he worked at the San Pedro Shipyards, near Los Angeles, in the lead mines in Galena, the Savanna Army Depot and California Woolen Mills. He was construction supervisor and premier concrete mason at Arbanas Construction, Joliet, Ill. He retired in 1972 and moved to California.
He was a 3rd Degree mason; member of California Lodge 183; California Chapter 58, Royal Arch Masons; California VFW Post 4345; and a charter member of Family Circle C.B. Club.
Other survivors include: one son, Herbert Wilson Jr., Edmonds, Wash.; one sister, Lucille Humphreys, Huntington Beach, Calif.; three grandchildren; three step grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services were at Steinke Funeral Home, Galena. Burial, with military honors, was in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena.
Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Association, California, or the "Activities and Outings" for the Adult Day Care Center, Galena.
ZUMWALT
John D. Zumwalt, 85, Ashland, died Nov. 9, 2001, at Ashland Healthcare.
He was born Dec. 27, 1915, in Callaway County, a son of Church and Vergie Zumwalt. He was married Dec. 17, 1970, to Beulah Melloway, who survives in Ashland.
A farmer, he was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Hartsburg.
Other survivors include: one brother, Carl Zumwalt, Peoria, Ariz.; and one sister, Bessie Foster, Jefferson City.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Robinson Funeral Home, Ashland. Elder Wallace Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery, Ashland.
Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Sunday.
HOLLOWAY
Renee Lee Minor Holloway, 36, Versailles, died Nov. 9, 2001, in Jefferson City.
She was born Aug. 9, 1965, in Topeka, Kan., a daughter of Roland and Shirley Sanders Minor. Her parents survive in Eldon. She was married July 1, 1989, in Eldon, to James Holloway, who survives at the home.
She graduated from Eldon High School in 1981 and from Southwest Missouri State University in 1987. She worked at H & R Block, Eldon, as a tax preparer.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Jessica Lee Holloway, of the home; and one brother, Mike Minor, Eldon.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Walter Simpson will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Garden Cemetery, Eugene.
Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Monday.
Memorials are suggested to the care of Jessica Lee Holloway.
SMITH
Donald William Smith, 71, Fulton, died Nov. 8, 2001, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.
He was born Oct. 13, 1928, in Detroit, a son of William and Ruby Mae Eads Smith. He was married to B.K. Smith. He was married in 1993 to Leona Smith, who survives.
He worked as a machinist for the Ford Motor Company in Lavinia, Mich., for 30 years until retirement in 1984. He served in the Army.
Other survivors include: one son, Dennis Smith, Redford, Mich.; one daughter, Cindy Carver, Marshall, Ill.; one stepdaughter, Vickie Jones, Sedalia; one sister, Marilyn Seman, LaPlume, Penn.; and one granddaughter.
The remains were cremated under the direction of Debo Funeral Home.
DAVIS
Julia Aileen Davis, 87, Fulton, died Nov. 10, 2001, at the Callaway Community Hospital, Fulton.
She was born Oct. 14, 1914, in Steedman, a daughter of Robert P. and Vida Bradley Williamson. She was married July 22, 1934, to Roy M. Davis, who died Nov. 17, 1952.
She retired from the Fulton State Hospital as a psychiatric aid II in 1979. She was a member of the Mokane United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: two daughters, Wilma Baysinger, Fulton, and Marilyn Joyce Buckley, Paradise, Calif.; three sons, Ralph M. Davis, Tebbetts, John A. Davis, Jefferson City, and James L. Davis, Futon; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton. Bruce Williamson and the Rev. Bruce Bernard will officiate. Burial will be in Mokane Cemetery, Mokane.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.
JOACHIM
Betty Shepherd Joachim, 85, Steelville, died Nov. 7, 2001, at the Gibbs Care Center, Steelville.
She was born Nov. 15, 1915, in Eldon, a daughter of William C. and Effie Pearl Winnop Shepherd. She was married Oct. 3, 1966, to Paul Joachim, who survives at the home.
She graduated from Eldon High School and from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Journalism.
She was a Women's Army Corps (WAC) veteran of World War II, serving in England and Europe. Her military honors included a Bronze Star.
After her discharge, she worked with Mike Wallace on a television program and later was foreign editor for the Wall Street Journal.
After the Joachims moved to Steelville in 1978, they operated a small trucking business.
Other survivors include two brothers and one sister.
Memorial services and burial will be at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville.
BONHAM
Audra Ina Bonham, 86, Jefferson City, died Nov. 12, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born Aug. 19, 1915, in the state of Illinois, a daughter of the Louie and Mercia Roberts Morris. She was married Dec. 12,1937, to Herbert Bonham who died Aug. 11, 1982.
She was a member of the Methodist faith and a homemaker.
Survivors include: two daughters, Marie Hardy, Holts Summit, Jo Ann Nichols, Washington , Pa.; one sister, Mildred Switzer, Farina, Ill.; four grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at James and Gahr Chapel, St. James. David Conley will officiate. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Association or Cole Senior Nutrition Center.
DuBOIS
David Miller DuBois Jr., 88, formerly of Fortuna, died Nov. 12, 2001, at Tipton Manor Nursing Home, Tipton.
He was born Sept. 8, 1913, in Leavenworth, Kan., a son of David M. Sr.and Christina Miller DuBois. He was married Oct. 5, 1946, in Leavenworth, Kan., to Hazel Taulbee, who died Dec. 14, 2000.
A resident of the Fortuna community since 1951, he had lived in Weston. He was a member of the Fortuna Baptist Church where he was a song leader, Sunday School director and church custodian. He was a member of Fortuna Senior Citizens and worked as an optical lens supervisor at KC Bifocal Co., Versailles.
Survivors include: four sons, Roger DuBois, Hartley, Iowa, Pat DuBois, Tipton, and Cris DuBois and Vic DuBois, both of Fortuna; one daughter, Brenda White , Gravois Mills; one brother, George DuBois, Smithville; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Doug DuBois and Joe DuBois.
Services will be held at l0 a.m. Thursday at Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton. The Rev. Daniel Rogers will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
