GORDON
Joann Gordon, 74, Kansas City, died Dec. 1, 2001, at her home.
She was born July 20, 1927, in Kansas City, a daughter of William and Beatrice Boyd Wurssman. She was married to Delmar Gordon, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include: two sons, Michael Gordon, Independence, and Patrick Gordon, Kansas City; one daughter, Janet Gentry, state of Arizona; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Park Lawn Funeral Home, Kansas City. Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Russellville.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m today.
BOWLIN
Crystal Bowlin, 90, Jefferson City, died, Dec. 3, 2001, at Oakview Living Center.
She was born Oct. 30, 1911, in High Point, a daughter of William P. and Sally M. Short Van Pool. She was married in 1940 to Henry D. Bowlin, who died in 198l.
She was a graduate of Olean High School and was a self-employed beautician in Kansas City for several years.
She moved to the Jefferson City area in 1985 from Atlanta, Ga. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include: one niece, Jean Rotter, Bonnots Mill.
Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Enloe Cemetery, Russellville. The Rev. Hewitt Strobel will officiate.
Visitation will be from 2:30-3:30 p.m. at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Russellville.
Memorials are suggested to the Enloe Cemetery or the High Point Cemetery.
BASSMANN
Lewis William "Bud" Bassmann, 79, Jefferson City, died, Dec. 3, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born Dec. 8, 1921, in Jefferson City, a son of Oscar and Eugenia Sayles Bassmann. He was married April 8, 1945, in Jefferson City, to Mary Elizabeth Struempf, who survives at the home.
He graduated from Jefferson City High School and was a postal clerk until his retirement in 1982. He previously worked for Arthur W. Ellis Tire and Kroger Grocery Company. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Central United Church of Christ and served on the board of directors at the Jefferson City Federal Employees Credit Union.
Survivors include: two sons, Samuel L. Bassmann and Sidney G. Bassmann, both of Jefferson City; four daughters, Mary Sue Higgins, Sally A. Morrow , and Sarah M. Didriksen, all of Jefferson City, and Sherri E. Grothaus, Marshall; three sisters, Margaret Nester, Edinburg, Texas , and Ruth Scholle, and Agnes "Bea" Sullivan, both of Jefferson City; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Central United Church of Christ. The Rev. Stephen H. Buchholz will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home.

ADAIR
Jessie Paulletta Adair, 71, Jefferson City, died, Dec. 3, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born July 29, 1930, in Mammoth Springs, Ark., a daughter of George J. and Lavada Cam Barnett Hodge. She was married Feb. 25, 1950, in Jefferson City, to William M. Adair, who survives at the home.
She was employed with McGraw-Edison and Cheseborough Ponds. She worked as an assembler with Hunter's Engineering Company, Bridgeton, retiring in 1979. She was a member of Wayfarer Pentecostal Church of God.
Survivors include: one son, James M. Adair, Florissant; three daughters, Brenda J. Whitley, Verlon D. McKay, and Paulla A. Sheely, all of Jefferson City; one brother, Frankie "Vance" Hodge, Jefferson City; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren;
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. The Rev. Mikel L. Burton will officiate. Burial will be in Longview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

BARTLETT
Martha Alvis Bartlett, 81, Columbia, died, Dec. 1, 2001, at Jefferson City Manor Nursing Home.
She was born April 16, 1920, in Ripley, Miss., a daughter of Howell and Natalie Alvis. She was married Jan. 6, 1940, to Jesse H. Bartlett who survives in Columbia.
She moved to Columbia in 1957. She received a bachelor's in English and a master's in education from the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she later worked. She also taught at Jefferson Junior High School and at Oakland Junior High. She was a sponsor of the Oakland Junior High paper for 10 years until she retired in 1976. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Columbia, and was active in AAUW, DAR, and the Columbia Garden Club.
Survivors include: two sons, Ronald H. Bartlett, Columbia, and Thomas A. Bartlett, Jefferson City; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church of Columbia.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Funeral Service, Columbia.
ETZOLD
Services were today for Flora A. Etzold, 9l, Perryville, who died, Dec. 1, 2001, at Perry County Nursing Home.
She was born March 11, 1910, in Perry County, a daughter of Henry and Martha Cornehlsen Wichern. She was married to John Norrington. She was married to Alfred Etzold, who died May 3, 1978.
She worked at International Shoe Company and at Perry County Memorial Hospital as a nurse's aid. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and a past member of Immanuel Lutheran Ladies Aid.
Survivors include: one daughter, Vivian Cobble, Jefferson City; two sons, Delbert W. Norrington, Charleston, S.C., and Noel A. Norrington, Potosi; three brothers, Ruben Wichern, Perryville, Wilbert Wichern, Old Appleton, and Melvin Wichern, Thompson; two sisters, Amanda Lacy, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Alma Wichern, Perryville; six grandchildren;10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
One granddaughter preceded her in death.
Services were at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The Rev. Craig Otto officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Perry County Nursing Home.

HAYS
Judy Kay Oehrke Hays, 50, Tipton, died, Dec. 4, 2001, at her home.
She was born Sept. 20, 1951, in Sedalia, a daughter of Emil and Lois Rasa Oehrke. She was married Dec. 13, 1975, in Florence, to William S. "Bill" Hays, who survives at the home.
She graduated from Stover High School and State Fair Community College, Sedalia. She was employed by the Department of Employment Security, Sedalia, and later was a homemaker. She was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ, Florence.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Stephanie N. Hays, Morrice, Mich., and Jennifer L. Hays, Columbia; and one brother, Charles Oehrke, Smithton.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's United Church of Christ. The Rev. Michael Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery, Tipton.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Stover.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or St. John's United Church of Christ.
HEES
Murrel Lee Hees, 71, Jamestown, died, Dec. 4, 2001, at his home.
He was born March 3, 1930, in Rocky Mount, a son of Argo and Marjorie Kelsay Hees. He was married Jan. 15, 1955, in Clarksburg, to Shelba Dean George, who survives at the home.
He attended Bethel School. He worked in construction in Kansas City and also worked as a pile driver for Massman Construction. He was a farmer. He was a member of Lupus Baptist Church.
Survivors include; three sons, Steve Hees, and Rusty Hees, both of Jamestown, Kent Hees, California; one daughter, Diane Knipp, Tipton; one brother, Vencil Hees, California; two sisters, Elsie Flippin, California, and Erma Stark, Jefferson City; and eight grandchildren.
One grandson preceded him in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at California United Church of Christ. The Rev. Gary Schulte and the Rev. Chester Marshall will officiate. Burial will be in Grace United Methodist Cemetery, Jamestown.
Visitation will be from 4-7:30 p.m. Friday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California.
