REED

Maude Reed, 91,  Jefferson City, formerly of Crocker, died Dec. 15, 2001, at her home.

She was born Nov. 17, 1910, in Swedeborg, a daughter of Thomas and Christina Tucker Ledbetter. She was married April 10, 1936, to Noah Reed, who died in 1976.

She was a lifelong member of the Christian Church. She was the OATS Bus contact person in Pulaski County for five years and the OATS Volunteer of the Year in 1994. She won the Yard of the Month Award several times.

A homemaker, she was a school teacher at rural schools in Pulaski County.

Survivors include: three sons, Dan Reed,  Jefferson City, William Reed, Pleasant Hill, and Joseph Reed, Stevens, Pa.; one brother, Opal Ledbetter, St. Louis; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

One daughter, Audrey Smith, and three grandchildren preceded her in death.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Dixon Cemetery. Bro. Junior Bryan and Bro. Rick Smith will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to Crocker Christian Church Building Fund, the Salvation Army or the Hospice of  Jefferson City and Mid-Missouri.

Arrangements are under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon.

BAUMGARTNER

Eleanor Baumgartner, 95,  Jefferson City, died Dec. 16, 200l, at Capital Healthcare Center.

She was born Feb. 10, 1906, in Wardsville, a daughter of John and Christian Bisges Feind. She was married June 4, 1929, in  Jefferson City, to Leo Baumgartner, who died Aug. 1, 1987.

She attended St. Stanislaus School and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral, St. Peter's Band boosters and the Ladies Sodality.

Survivors include: one son, James H. Baumgartner,  Jefferson City; one daughter, Lillian Klump, St. Louis; two sisters, Clara Derkum, Wardsville, and Marie Hazel, state of Arizona; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

One grandson died in 1980.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Cathedral. The Rev. David Buescher will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors.

Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Cathedral or the charity of the donor's choice.

HORRIGHS

Earl E. Horrighs Sr., 72, Camdenton, died Dec. 13, 200l, at his home.

He was born July 19, 1929, in Springfield, Ill., a son of Henry Sr. and Ceclia Mulligan Horrighs. He was married Sept. 25, 1955, in Peoria, to Norma J. Griffin, who survives at the home.

He lived in Springfield, Ill., and Girard, Ill., and worked in the feed mill business. In 1974, he moved to Camdenton. He was a coach in Little League. He also was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader. He was Presbyterian.

Survivors include: five sons, Walter Horrighs, Girard, Ill., Norman Horrighs, Port Charlotte, Fla., and Earl Horrighs, Mike Horrighs, and Gary Horrighs, all of Camdenton; one daughter, Roberta McKinney, Fulton, Texas ; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Staab Funeral Home, Springfield, Ill. The Rev. Tom Ford will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Riverton, Ill.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate, 402 North East Glen Oak, Suite 204, Peoria, Ill. 61603.

Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton.

LATHROP

Kenneth D. Lathrop, 73, Roach, died Dec. 14, 200l, at his home.

He was born May 25, 1928, in West Branch, Iowa, a son of George and Bessie Morgan Lathrop. He was married Aug. 7, 1950, to Patricia Albin, who died in 1964. He was married Aug. 14, 1965, to Ruth A. Rummelhart, who survives at the home.

He lived most of his life in Iowa, working 27 years for Procter and Gamble in Iowa City, Iowa, before retiring in 1983.

He then moved to the Lake of the Ozarks. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

He had been a member of West Branch United Methodist Church and was a member of Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church, Laurie. He was a member of the West Branch school board for41Ž2 years, serving one year as president. He was a 50-year member of American Legion and a volunteer for the West Branch Fire Department in Iowa and Northwest Fire Department in Missouri.

Survivors include: three sons, Jeffrey Lathrop and Dennis Lathrop, both of West Branch, Iowa, Michael Lathrop, Indianola, Iowa; one daughter, Cynthia Lynch, West Branch; two stepdaughters, Sheryl Anderson, Raytown, and Theresa Winders, Vinton, Iowa; eight grandchildren; six step grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one step great-grandchild.

Services will be at a later date at Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial will be in West Branch.

Memorials are suggested to Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church or St. Judes.

Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton.

MICHAELSON

Stanley Morris Michaelson, 58, Holts Summit, died Dec. 15, 2001, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.

He was born March 16, 1943, in Watertown, S.D., a son of Morris A. and Marian Thorson Michaelson. His stepmother, Joyce Michaelson, survives in Watertown. He was married June 8, 1966, in Watertown, to Nancy LaFramboise who survives at the home.

He was a 1961 graduate of Watertown High School and earned a bachelor's degree in fish and wildlife management from South Dakota University in 1966. He received a master's degree in fisheries science from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1970. He worked for the Missouri Department of Conservation-Division of Fisheries. From 1968 to 1972, he was district fisheries biologist. From 1977 to 1979, he was aquatic environmental coordinator. From 1979 to 1987, he was assistant fisheries division chief and in 1987 he became assistant fisheries division chief of administration. He became Mississippi River unit chief in 1997 and retired in 2000 after 32 years with the department.

He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church (ELCA), where he was on the church council and served two terms on the board of deacons. He was a sponsor with the Lutheran Youth Organization.

He was a member of the Izaak Walton League, Ducks Unlimited, the alumni associations of South Dakota State University and the University of Missouri-Columbia. He was a charter member of the University of Missouri School of Forestry, Fisheries and Wildlife Alumni Association. He was a member of the American Fisheries Society and was a certified fishery scientist. He served as chair of division membership committee in the North Central Division and was a member of the Missouri Chapter since 1968. He was secretary/treasurer from 1977 to 1979 and was chapter president from 1979 to1980. He was a member of the Conservation Federation of Missouri since 1973, serving a three-year term on the board of directors.

He won many awards including the Division of Fisheries Employee of the Year in 1992.

Survivors include: two sons, David L. Michaelson, Holts Summit, and Daniel P. Michaelson, Farmville, Va.; one daughter, Jody L. Michaelson, Columbia; one brother, Philip M. Michaelson, Livonia, Mich.; one sister, Nancy L. Iverson, Watertown; and one granddaughter.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. The Rev. Scott Musselman will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors,  Jefferson City.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of  Jefferson City; Our Savior's Lutheran Church or the University of Missouri School of Natural Resources.

PARSONS

Jean Parsons, 96, Iberia, died Dec. 15, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 29, 1905, in Manitoba, Canada, a daughter of John W. and Nellie McWillie Ekins. She was married in 1927 to Walter Parkison, who preceded her in death. She was married in 1957 to W.E. "Red" Parsons, who died in 1974.

She worked as a nurse and was a teacher for the Adult Literacy Program. She was a member of Iberia First Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one son, James Parkison, Iberia; one daughter, Jonina Buterbaugh, Springfield; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Iberia First Baptist Church. The Rev. Glen Golden will officiate. The body was cremated.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia.

SHORES

Juanita Hood Gattermeir Shores, 90, California, died Dec. 15, 2001, at Moniteau Care Center, California.

She was born Jan. 2, 1911, north of California, a daughter of the Rev. R.L. and Mary B. Kneisly Hood. She was married in October 1934 in California, to Joe. N. Gattermeier, who died in March 1950. She was married in April 1976 to Marion R. Shores, who died Dec. 16, 2000.

She attended Aurora and California high schools. She attended cosmotology school and owned and operated Juanita's Beauty Shop from the late 1950s until she retired in 1974. She was a Southern Baptist and sang in a quartet at First Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one son, J. David Gattermeier, Lee's Summit; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren; .

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Masonic Cemetery, California. The Rev. Greg Morrow will officiate.

No visitation is planned.

Memorials are suggested to Old Salem Cemetery Fund, in care of Carol Wirts, 1110 S. Francis St., California, Mo. 65018.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California.
