STAYTON
Nettie May Stayton, 88, Boonville, died Dec. 21, 2001, at Lake View Care and Rehabilitation Center, Boonville.
She was born Jan. 10, 1913, in Linn Creek, a daughter of John L. and May V. Mattox Hibdon. She was married March 19, 1932, in California, to Lewis Green Stayton, who died in 1990.
She lived in the Lone Elm and Bunceton areas and Prairie Home for 12 years.
Survivors include: one son, Rue Stayton, Tipton; two daughters, Mary Ellen Fahrendorf, Boonville, and Linda Thurman, Columbia; one brother, John A. Hibdon, Eugene; one sister, Viola Ann Putnam, Pilot Grove; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
One granddaughter preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton. The Rev. Farrie Cole will officiate. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Tipton.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Monday.
NEAL
Marie Neal, 85, Crocker, died Dec. 21, 2001, at Osage Beach Health Care Center.
She was born April 14, 1916, in Crocker, a daughter of Herman and Nora Payne Krouse. She was married Oct. 6, 1937, in Crocker, to Howard Neal, who died Dec. 17, 1967.
She was a member of Crocker Presbyterian Church where she was in the church choir, a board member and a member of the Ladies Group and the Quilting Group. She was a self-employed beautician. She was the deputy assessor for Pulaski County and a school teacher.
Survivors include: two sons, H. Wayne Neal, Centerview, and Tom L. Neal, Linn Creek; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Crocker Presbyterian Church. The Rev. William K. Knudsen will officiate. Burial will be in Crocker Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Long Funeral Home, Crocker, and from 1-2 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Crocker Presbyterian Church.
AMEND
Mary C. Amend, 82, Jefferson City, died Dec. 21, 2001, at the Green Meadow Nursing Center, Linn.
She was born Feb. 26, 1919, in St. Johns, Newfoundland, a daughter of John and Mary Grant. She was married March of 1942 in St. Johns, Newfoundland, to Paris Amend, who died April 1, 1987.
She attended St. Patrich Catholic School in St. Johns, Newfoundland, and moved to the Jefferson City area in 1944. She was a homemaker and member of St. Peters Catholic Church. She had been employed as a cook with the Jefferson City Public Schools.
Survivors include: two daughters, Judith Heinrich, Jefferson City, and Marjorie Sutter, Florissant; four sons, Paris Amend, Westminster, Colo., Kenneth Amend, Jefferson City, Eugene Amend, Farmer Branch, Texas , and David Amend, O'Fallon; two sisters, Lorraine Wicksted, Granite Bay, Calif., and Madeline Solo, Edmunton, Alberta, Canada; a brother, Fred Grant, Mt. Pearl, St. Johns, Newfoundland; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peters Church. The Rev. Donald Lammers will officiate. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials are suggested to The Mary Amend Scholarship Fund at Helias High School.
BURNS
Edna Burns, 79, Eldon, died Dec. 23, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.
Arrangements are incomplete at Phillips Funeral Home.
NEUNER
Catherine G. "Katie" Neuner, 98, Rich Fountain, died Dec. 25, 2001, at Westphalia Retirement Center.
She was born Dec. 4, 1903, in Rich Fountain, a daughter of Joseph and Anna Lehman Neuner.
A homemaker, she was a lifelong resident of Osage County and attended Sacred Heart School, Rich Fountain. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, St. Ann's Sodality, Western Catholic Union and the Sewing Circle.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Church, Rich Fountain. The Rev. Mark Porterfield will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the church, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart Church.

ODENDAHL
Edna Odendahl, 85, Freeburg, died Dec. 24, 2001, at Westphalia Retirement Center.

BETTENHAUSEN
Ralph E. Bettenhausen, Sunrise Beach, died Dec. 26, 2001, at his home.

GRATZ
Robert E. "Bobby" Gratz, 76, Taos, died Dec. 27, 2001, at Jefferson City Manor.
He was born Nov. 7, 1925, in Pittsburgh, Pa., a son of Jake and Leona Lauf Gratz. He was married April 7, 1948, in Taos, to Mary Twehous, who survives at the home.
He graduated from St. Francis Xavier High School and from auctioneering school in 1948.
In addition to farming, he owned and operated Gratz Auctioneering and Gratz Excavating. He served as Eastern District Cole County commissioner for 14 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, serving as president and vice president of the St. Francis Xavier Home and School Association.
He was active with the Cole County 4-H Youth Program at the Cole County Fair.
He was honored in 1998 by Cole County 4-H for many years of donating his auctioneering services for livestock auctions at the fair.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2693; VFW Post 1003; the Cole County Democratic Association; and the Missouri Cattleman's Association. He was past president of the Osage City Community Center.
Other survivors include: one son, Rep. William W. Gratz, Wardsville; three daughters, Sharon Raithel, Koeltztown, and Ruby Radmacher and Roberta Schnieders, both Taos; one half brother, Roy Gratz, Fredericksburg, Va.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. The Rev. David Maher will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Sunday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, Jefferson City, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Francis Xavier School or a charity of the donor's choice.
COOK
Teddy Lee Cook, 95, California, died Dec. 28, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 19, 1906, in Oskaloosa, Kan., a son of Frank B. and Cora I. Morrison Cook. He was married Jan. 18, 1942, in Las Vegas, Nev., to Doris A. Lampson, who died Dec. 3, 1996.
He was a pharmacist In Santa Ana, Calif., and he was a Methodist. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: one nephew, James Moseley, California.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. Monday at Highland Cemetery, south of Latham. The Rev. Roy Sparks will officiate and burial will be with full military honors.
Visitation is 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California.
