WALLAU

Anna A. Wallau, 87, Bridgewater, N.J., a former resident of  Jefferson City, died Dec. 24, 2001.

She was born May 24, 1914, in  Jefferson City, a daughter of Christopher C. and Anna Fowler Coffelt. She was married to William L. Wallau, who died in 1954.

She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She worked for the United States federal government for more than 40 years. She began working in the Department of the Interior in Rolla, and she retired from federal service while working for the Department of Defense at the Pentagon in Arlington, Va.

Survivors include: one daughter, Janace Heagler, Westfield, N.J.; one brother, Alvin Coffelt, LaGrange, Ill.; two sisters, Virginia Wekenborg, New Bloomfield, and Helen Hitz,  Jefferson City; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services are 11 a.m. Friday in the Freeman Chapel. The Rev. Wendell Stoneburner will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation is 10-11 a.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

BOOTS

Kay Chizyuko Boots, 76, Eldon, died Dec. 29, 2001, at her home.

She was born Nov. 13, 1925, in Kobe, Japan, a daughter of Gingero and Kaoru Kawahara Sendra. She was married Jan. 28, 1952, in Kobe, to Boyd Boots who died Dec. 18, l998.

She was a homemaker and of Buddhist faith.

Survivors include: one son Clarence B. Boots, Eldon; three daughters, Ellen McKenzie, Marthasville, Helen Holland, Camdenton, and Julia Sanning, Holts Summit; two brothers, Shino Senda and Kenro Senda, both of Japan; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach.

HILLGARTNER

Willis Hillgartner, Fulton, died Dec. 28, 2001, at his home.

Arrangements are incomplete at Debo Funeral Home.

LETT

Katie Mae Lett, 73, Versailles, died Dec. 29, 2001, at Good Shepherd Care Center, Versailles.

She was born Feb. 9, 1928, in Versailles, a daughter of John and Gertrude Frisbie Ritchie. She was married July 24, 1945, to Howard Lett, who survives at the home.

She worked for Primo Pants in Versailles for 21 years. She had lived in Marshall and was a housekeeper for Marshall Habilitation Center for 13 years before retiring. She was a member of VFW Womens Auxiliary, Gravois Mills, and First Baptist Church, Marshall.

Survivors include: four daughters, Irene Moody, state of Arizona, Viola Lee, Versailles, Freda Driskell, Marshall, and Reta Davis, Columbia; two brothers, L. D. Ritchie, Holden, and Charles W. "Bill" Ritchie, Excelsior Springs; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Three grandchildren and one great-grandchild preceded her in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Leslie Howard will officiate. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials are suggested to the Diabetes Association or Heart Association.

MORFF

Dolores M. Wansing Morff, 74, Olean, died Dec. 30, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born Oct. 30, 1927, in Loose Creek, a daughter of Peter H. and Gertrude M. Haslag Nilges. She was married Jan. 24, 1948, to Victor B. Wansing, who died Oct. 15, 1996. She was married Jan 31, 1998, to Bernard Morff, who survives at the home.

She was a beautician for 30 years. She also ran a home for physically- and mentally-challenged individuals for a number of years. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church,  Jefferson City, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Eldon.

Survivors include: four sons, Wayne Wansing, Eugene, Bruce Wansing, Brazito, and Kevin Wansing and Frank Wansing, both of  Jefferson City; three stepsons, Danny Morff,  Jefferson City, Mike Morff, Austin, Texas , and Al Morff, St. Thomas; one daughter, Victoria Steen,  Jefferson City; seven grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and 14 step great-grandchildren.

One son, Stephen William Wansing, died Aug. 14, 1982. One stepdaughter, Jane Groene, died Aug. 31, 2001.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter's Catholic Church. The Rev. James J. O'Sullivan will officiate. Entombment will be in Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m Wednesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors,  Jefferson City, with a rosary at 4 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Vogelweid Learning Center.

SAPP

LaVern Messerli Sapp, 78, California, died Dec. 30, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born May 2, 1923, in California, a daughter of Walter and Cleo Pollman Messerli. She was married Sept. 10, 1960, in  Jefferson City, to William L. Sapp, who died Jan. 15, 2001.

She was a graduate of California High School. A former  Jefferson City resident, she worked for the United States Department of Agriculture in  Jefferson City as an administrative officer in charge of setting up offices of animal husbandry across the country. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Federal Retirees Club and AARP. She was a past member of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include one brother, Kelly Messerli, California, and one sister, Ellen Messerli Martin, California.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to Salem United Church of Christ or the American Cancer Society.

STANLEY

Arthur O. Stanley, 40, Barnett, died Dec. 31, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.

Arrangements are incomplete at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Versailles.

VAUGHN

Cecil A. Vaughn, 71, Ashland, died Dec. 30, 2001, at his home.

He was born March 22, 1930, in Miller County, a son of Wesley and Desdia Watts Vaughn. He was married Aug. 20, 1949, in Tuscumbia, to Wilma Bunch, who survives.

He worked for GTE Telephone Co. for 28 years, retiring in 1983. He worked for Contact Communication for 10 years. He also worked for Eagle Knoll Gold Course, Hartsburg. He worked part time at Southern Boone County School, Ashland.

He was a member of the Ashland Baptist Church and the Ashland Optimist Club.

Other survivors include: one son, Bill Vaughn, Hartsburg; three daughters, Brenda Weston, and Paula Weston, both of Ashland, and Deborah Miles, Grain Valley; three brothers, Gaithel Vaughn, Chilicothe, Ill., Charles Vaughn, Eldon and Terry Vaughn, Fairfield, Ill.; five sisters, Pauline Stanton, Lake Ozark, Neta Bunch, Eldon, Mary Bailey, Tucson, Ariz., Norma Evans, Bolivar, and Joyce Hammond, Clearwater, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

One grandson preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Robinson Funeral Home, Ashland. The Rev. James West will officiate. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery, Ashland.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials are suggested to Missouri River Hospice.
