RAINS
Services were Dec. 27 for Erma Ladean Rains, 76, Gallatin, who died Dec. 23, 2001, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City.
She was born May 24, 1925, a daughter of Thomas E. and Gladys I. Kelsey Taylor. She was married Nov. l, 1947, in Barnett, to Don Rains, who survives at the home.
She was a graduate of Barnett High School and attended Sedalia School of Business. She was a member of Gallatin First Christian Church and was a member of its Crusaders Sunday School class. She was also a member of Eastern Star and the Learn and Do Extension Club, Gallatin.
Survivors include: two sons, Steve Rains and Daivd Rains, both of Gallatin; two daughters, Vicki Rains, St. Joseph, and Judy Stith, Gallatin; one brother, Myron Taylor, Jefferson City; five sisters, Arlene Jones and Sue Enloe, both of Eldon, Darlene Stover, Independence, Evelyn Bellamy, Raytown, and Elizabeth Edwards, Clinton; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were at McWilliams Family Funeral Home, Gallatin. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Gallatin.
Memorials are suggested to Gallatin First Christian Church Building Fund, 1329 W. Grand Ave., Gallatin, Mo. 64640.
SCHWARTZE
Services were today for Ambrose Schwartze, 82, Koeltztown, who died Dec. 31, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born May 2, 1919, in Maries County, a son of Frank and Anna Redel Schwartze. He was married June 2, 195l, in Koeltztown, to Lidwina Christine Bax, who survives at the home.
He was a lifelong farmer in Maries County, near Argyle, before retiring in 1989 and moving to Koeltztown. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a charter and a 50-year member of VFW Post 8045, Argyle. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Koeltztown.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Martha Jane Buschjost, Koeltztown, and Diane Waidelich, Vienna; one sister, Rita Verhoff, West Des Moines, Iowa; and three grandchildren.
One infant son, Richard Schwartze, preceded him in death.
Services were at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Msgr. Bernard Boessen officiated. Burial was in St. Aloysious Cemetery, Argyle.
Memorials are suggested to Masses.
Arrangements were under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.
STANLEY
Arthur Otto Stanley, 40, Barnett, died Dec. 31, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born Dec. 26, 1961, in Kansas City, a son of Gilbert L. and Betty Rose Goodman Stanley. His father survives in Stover.
He was a 1980 graduate of Stover High School. He was groundskeeper for Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett, and had worked at Brooking Park, Sedalia.
Survivors include: two sons, Arthur Otto "L.A." Stanley, Jr. and Shane Adam Stanley, both of Eldon; one daughter, Brandy Jo Trillo, Jefferson City; two brothers, Gilbert E. Stanley, Holts Summit, and Guy W. Stanley, St. Martins; three sisters, Ruth Hall, Barnett, Diana R. Morey, Arlington, Kan., and Lori Lee Whittle, Eldon; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Rod Campbell will officiate. Burial will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to the Arthur O. Stanley Memorial Fund.
SUTHOFF
Betty J. Suthoff, 73, St. Louis, died Dec. 31, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born in Rock Hill, S.C., a daughter of John F. and Connie Strickland. She was married to Leo H. Suthoff who survives.
She was a registered nurse in South Carolina and St. Louis and worked at Anheuser-Busch before her retirement.
Other survivors include: one son, John Suthoff, Jefferson City; one daughter, Margaret Blazer, Tampa, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 9:15 a.m. Thursday at St. Raphael the Archangel Church. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Kutis Funeral Home, Affton.
Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
THOMPSON
Services were today for Vera Thompson, 74, Dixon, who died Dec. 30, 2001, in St. Louis University Hospital.
She was born Sept. 16, 1927, in St. Louis, a daughter of Claude and Martha Fisher Rowden. She was married Jan. 14, 1944, in Iberia, to George Lee Thompson, who died Oct. 2, 1993.
She was a factory worker and homemaker. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church, Dixon.
Survivors include: one son, Leroy Thompson, Dixon; two daughters, Reba LaFollette, Dixon, and Joyce Wans, Rolla; one brother, Charles Rowden, Laquey; three sisters, Betty Angley, Azusa, Calif., Lavon Thompson, St. Clair, and Laverne Thompson, Union; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services were at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon. The Rev. Tharell J. Boulware officiated. Burial was in Dixon Cemetery.
SIMPSON
Herbert E. "Herb" Simpson, 81, Eldon, died Jan. 1, 2002, in Eldon.
He was born March 26, 1920, in Eldon, a son of Volney B. and Anna L. Babcoke Simpson. He was married Feb. 8, 1941, in Branson, to Dorothy "Dot" Crane, who died May 30, 2001.
An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he was a member of the First Christian Church of Eldon and the Eldon Country Club.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Joint services for Herbert Simpson and his wife Dorothy Simpson will be at 1 p.m. Jan. 12 at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Shirley Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Eldon City Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church of Eldon.
BENTON
Felicia Lou Benton, 41, Holts Summit, died Jan. 1, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 15, 1960, in Moberly, a daughter of Donald E. Benton Sr. and Ruby C. Price. Her parents survive in Holts Summit.
Other survivors include: three sons, Andrew Benton, Arron Benton and Anthony Benton, all of Holts Summit; two brothers, Donald Benton Jr., St. James, and Ronald Benton, Holts Summit; and two sisters, Kathy Benton, Mexico, and Carol Dawn Benton, Holts Summit.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Summit Memorial Park Cemetery, Holts Summit.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Friday at Debo Funeral Home, Holts Summit.
BOALS
Ruby Irene Boals, 70, Crocker, died Jan. 1, 2002, at her home.
She was born March 28, 1931, in Waynesville, a daughter of William and Gusta Viola Mahoney Robertson. She was married April 17, 1951, in Waynesville, to Maynard Lorine Boals, who survives at the home.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include: four sons, William Boals and Richard Boals, both of Crocker, Wilfrod Boals, Camdenton, and Harley Boals, Eldon; four daughters, Helen Dyle, Burbon, Norma Furgeson, Camdenton, Martha Williams, St. Robert, and Kimberly Catlan, Dixon; one brother, John Robertson, two sisters, Ollie Koch and Betty Bays, both of Columbia; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be private. The remains will be cremated.
Arrangements are under the direction of Long Funeral Home, Crocker.
CHRONIC
Pearl Opal Chronic, 82, Versailles, died Jan. 2, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 25, 1919, in Houlton, Maine, a daughter of Wendall and Anna Victory Tibbetts. She was married in 1954, in Kansas City, to Arthur W. Chronic, who died April 26, 1983.
She was a retired registered nurse and a member of the Family Worship Center, Versailles.
Survivors include one daughter, Carol Linn Hoffacker, Long Beach, Calif.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Danny Owsley will officiate. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to the Family Worship Center.
KLIETHERMES
Services were Wednesday for Edmund A. Kliethermes, 79, Raytown, who died Dec. 29, 2001, at Veterans Medical Center, Kansas City.
He was born July 7, 1922, in Loose Creek, a son of Jacob and Anna Grefrath Kliethermes.
A resident of the Kansas City area for many years, he worked for the city of Kansas City for more than 30 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a Catholic.
Survivors include: one son, Michael Kliethermes, Henderson, Nev.; three daughters, Carol Martin, San Angelo, Texas , Janet Kliethermes, Independence, and Patricia Plagge, Alburquerque, N.M.; two sisters, Leona Adamski and Alvina Fineo, both of Jefferson City; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were at Immaculate Conception Church, Loose Creek. The Rev. Greg Meystrik officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Morton Funeral Home, Linn.
