ADCOCK

Pauline "Price" Adcock, 101, Eldon, died Jan. 14, 2002, in Eldon.

She was born Dec. 22, 1900, in Olean, a daughter of John A. and Grace Apperson Price. She was married May 6, 1939, in  Jefferson City, to Elmer Adcock, who died Oct. 29, 1946.

She graduated from Olean High School in 1921. She received a bachelor's degree from Central Missouri State Teachers College in Warrensburg and did graduate work at Lewis and Clark in Portland, Ore. A lifelong resident of the Eldon area, she taught school for 33 years, retiring in 1966. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Eldon. She was a member of the AAUW, the Miller County Retired Teachers, and Delta Kappa Gamma.

She is survived by one sister, Evelyn Hartman,  Jefferson City.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Randall Bunch and the Rev. Jasper Hunter will officiate. Burial will be in Tuscumbia Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Saturday.

Memorials are suggested to the Missouri Baptist Children's Home.

CURTMAN

Virginia T. Curtman, 85, Owensville, died Jan. 14, 2002, at Frene Valley South, Owensville.

She was born May 14, 1916, in Meta, a daughter of Phlilip and Anna Massman Kleffner. She was married May 14, 1941, in Meta, to G.W. Curtman, who preceded her in death.

She moved from Meta to Owensville in 1955. She taught art for 45 years, at St. Elizabeth, Argyle, Meta, Owensville, Beaufort, Washington and Union. She graduated from high school in Meta and received a bachelor's degree from Central Missouri State University. She had master's degrees in counseling and administration from Lincoln University.

She was a past president of Delta Kappa Gamma and a charter member of the Alpha Theta chapter. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Owensville.

Survivors include: two sons, Dr. George G. Curtman, Union, and Wendell Curtman, Owensville; two sisters, Norine Wansing,  Jefferson City, and Theolinda Magill, Overland; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Fr. James Finder will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Arrangements are by the Gottenstroeter Funeral Home, Owensville.

EVERS

Nicholas Allen Evers, 18, Eldon, died Jan. 14, 2002, in Columbia.

He was born July 2, 1983, in  Jefferson City, a son of Gregory C. and Julie K. Fisher Evers. His father and stepmother, Gregory and Cindy Evers, survive in Eldon. His mother and stepfather, Julie and Doug Yeakle, survive in Eldon.

A member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Eldon, he attended Eldon Public Schools.

Other survivors include: four brothers, Aaron Evers, Seth Evers, Daniel Gaunt and Jason Yeakle, all of Eldon; three sisters, Pamela Yeakle, Patricia Yeakle and Melissa Yeakle, all of Eldon; maternal grandmothers Betty Fisher, Eldon, and Iris Yeakle, Stover; paternal grandmothers Wilma Evers, Eldon, and Pat Moore, Brookfield; and paternal great-grandmother Lucy Sanning, Eldon.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. James J. O'Sullivan will officiate. Burial will be in Eldon City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Eldon Animal Shelter.

ROFFEY

Wilma A. Roffey, 87, Osage Beach, died Jan. 14, 2002, at Ozark Care Center.

She was born Aug. 14, 1914, in Chaleis, Wash., a daughter of Alonzo and Eula McLouth Ray. She was married July 27, 1941, in Monmouth, Ill., to Robert Roffey, who died Feb. 9, 1976.

She was a homemaker and a member of Harper Chapel United Methodist Church, Osage Beach. She was also a member of Norris United Methodist Church, Norris, Ill.

Survivors include: two sons, Robert Roffey, East Peoria, Ill., and Dennis Roffey, Ben Brook, Texas ; one daughter, Cheryl Luper, Osage Beach; two sisters, Violet Appel and Donna Taymer, both of Tucson, Ariz.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

One step granddaughter preceded her in death.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Elmwood United Methodist Church, Elmwood, Ill. The Rev. Sharon Treptow will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. today at Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach. Visitation will also be from noon-1 p.m. Friday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Harper Chapel United Methodist Church, Osage Beach, or Norris United Methodist Church, Norris, Ill.

SUTTIE

Douglas J. Suttie, 51, Gravois Mills, died Jan. 14, 2002, at Liberty Hospital.

He was born March 4, 1950, at Bolling Air Force Base, Washington , D.C., a son of James and June Christine Henderson Suttie, who survive in Atlantic Beach, Fla. He was married in 1995 to Angel Covington, who survives at the home.

He was a graduate of Luther College in Iowa and earned a CLU with Prudential. He was a sales and finance consultant with Pat Ryan & ARDI and worked at Jerry Covington Chevrolet in Indianola, Iowa, before moving to the Lake area. He worked for Lloyd Belt Pontiac and Home Source Manufactured Homes in Eldon.

He also is survived by one son, Blake Suttie, Columbia.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie. The Rev. Diane Miller will officiate. The body will be cremated.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.

OUSLEY

Raymond Ousley, 81, Rocky Mount, died Jan. 15, 2002, in Osage Beach.

He was born Feb. 24, 1920, in  Jefferson City, a son of Orval and Mollie Copeland Ousley. He was married March 16, 1946, in Columbia, to Ann Johnson, who died Aug. 29, 1987.

A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eldon and the Professional Musicians Union Local 217 in  Jefferson City.

Survivors include: two sons, Terry Ousley,  Jefferson City, and Robert Ousley, Blue Springs; one brother, Herbert L. Ousley, Eldon; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens,  Jefferson City. The Rev. Dan Duckworth will officiate.

Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

Memorials are suggested in care of the family.

HITZ

Helen C. Hitz, 80, Holts Summit, died Jan. 16, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born July 28, 1921, in  Jefferson City, a daughter of Christopher and Anna Fowler Coffelt. She was married Feb. 1, 1944, in  Jefferson City, to Joseph G. Hitz, who died in September 1983.

She was a  Jefferson City High School graduate. She worked for the Missouri Department of Revenue from 1940 to 1962 and the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington , D.C. from 1962 to 1983.

She was a member of the Capital West Christian Church; the Daughters of the American Revolution, Jane Randolph Chapter; and the Rainbow Girls.

Survivors include: two sons, Charles Hitz, Holts Summit, and Dr. John Hitz, Nashville, Tenn.; one sister, Virginia Wekenborg, New Bloomfield; one brother, Alvin Coffelt, Chicago; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Saturday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. Ken Harland will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-noon Saturday.

Memorials are suggested to the Capital West Christian Church.

GRAHAM

James Edward "Jim" Graham, 74, California, died Jan. 15, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Jan. 9, 1928, in Brumley, a son of Ray and Ethel Blew Graham. He was married to Marie Graham, who died Jan. 25, 1998.

He attended Brumley High School. He lived in Ulman before moving to Bonner Springs, Kan., in 1954. He worked as a mechanic at White Motor Company in Kansas City, B and G Service in Bonner Springs, B-K Service in Basehor, Kan., and Graham Repair Shop in Bonner Springs. He retired in 1980. He moved to California in 1997.

He was a Baptist.

Survivors include: two daughters, Carolyn Feilbach, California, and Sharon Freeman, Bonner Springs; two brothers, Clarence Graham, Tuscumbia, and George Graham, Ulman; four sisters, Mildred Alieksaites, Ulman, Norma Jean Ahart, Tuscumbia, Marilyn Carico, Ulman, and Kathryn Humphrey, Brumley; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

One son, Michael Graham, died June 24, 1980.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, California. The Rev. Greg Morrow will officiate. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m Friday in Bonner Springs Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Starett will officiate.

Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Friday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 208 South Oak Street, California, Mo., or Landmark Baptist Church, 128th and Kansas Avenue, Bonner Springs, Kan. 66012.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California.

CLEEK

Robert Lee Cleek, 67, Sedalia, formerly of Versailles, died Jan. 16, 2002, at his home.

He was born Jan. 14, 1935, in Auburn, Neb., a son of Francis and Irene Umland Cleek. He was married Aug. 17, 1954, in Peru, Neb., to Shirley Ann Winingham, who survives at the home.

He retired from the Army and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, and the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include: three sons, James M. Cleek, Tallahassee, Fla., David A. Cleek, Council Bluff, Iowa, and Richard D. Cleek, Omaha, Neb.; two daughters, Linda Marie Dillon, Lawrence, Kan., and Sandra Slocum, Sedalia; 18 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at a later date. The body was cremated.

Arrangements are under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.
