FISCHER

Margaret R. Fischer, 89, Tipton, died Jan. 20, 2002, at Tipton Manor Rest Home.

She was born July 11, 1912, at Tipton, a daughter of Henry and Margaret Kramer Brant. She was married April 3, 1934, in Tipton, to Ewald Fischer, who died in 1987.

She was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Tipton, St. Andrew's Altar Society and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She also worked with the Nursing Home Auxiliary.

Survivors include: two sons, John Fischer, St. Louis, and Mark Fischer, Kansas City; three daughters, Diana Mertes, Springfield, Paulette McClure, Kansas City, and Priscilla Lary, Gladstone; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church. The Rev. Henry Reichert will officiate. Burial will be in St. Andrew's Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today at Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. There will be an Altar Society rosary at 3:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Missouri River Hospice and St. Andrew's School Foundation.

FIESTER

Esther Louise Fiester, 96, Camdenton, died Jan. 19, 2002, at Ozark Care Center, Osage Beach.

She was born May 21, 1905, in Chicago, a daughter of John and Madeline Heersma Otto. She was married Sept. 19, 1931, in Chicago, to Clarence Fiester, who died July 31, 1993.

A homemaker, she worked at the Continental Casualty Insurance Company as a keyboard operator for 13 years. She moved to Mountain Home, Ark., in 1964, where she was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a volunteer at the Central Arkansas Hospital.

Survivors include one sister, Madeline Filliung, Camdenton, and one brother, Wallace Otto, Crete, Ill.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Baxter Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Mountain Home. The Rev. Charles White will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton.

GEVECKER

Robert Vernon Gevecker, 75,  Jefferson City, died Jan. 20, 2002, at Villa Maria Skilled Nursing Facility.

He was born Aug. 20, 1926, in St. Louis, a son of William A. and Lucile Beadle Gevecker. He was married May 27, 1950, in Osage Bend, to Guinevere Braun, who survives at the home.

A Central Missouri area resident for the past 54 years, he graduated from the University of Missouri- Rolla with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was employed as a civil engineer with the Missouri Highway Department in the bridge maintenance division for 42 years, retiring in 1989.

He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers; University of Missouri at Rolla Alumni Assoc.; American Legion Roscoe Enloe Post 5; Missouri Society of Professional Engineers; Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity; American Concrete Institute; past president of the Capital Shrine Club; and a member of the Masonic Lodge of Rolla. He was an Eagle Scout and was an assistant scoutmaster for Troop 104.

Other survivors include: two sons, Jack Robert Gevecker, Sana'a Republic of Yemen, and James Braun Gevecker, St. Charles; two daughters, Jane Marie Gevecker-Mello, Aberdeen, Md., and Joanne Varriano, Leawood, Kan.; and nine grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. Louis Dorn will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in St. Margaret's Cemetery, Osage Bend.

Visitation will be from 5-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Hospice of  Jefferson City and Mid-Missouri, the Osage Bend Cemetery Fund or the Shriner's Children's Hospital.

WHEELER

Services were Friday for Clarence Russell Wheeler, 62, Columbia, formerly of  Jefferson City, who died Jan. 13, 2002, at Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital, Columbia.

He was born Feb. 10, 1939, a son of Sammy Wheeler and Lillian Humphrey.

A veteran of the Korean War, he was employed as a corrections officer at the Missouri State Penitentiary before retiring.

A 20-year resident of  Jefferson City, he was a member of the  Jefferson City Citizens Band Club. He had lived in Higbee.

Survivors include: one stepson, James Russell Maute,  Jefferson City; one daughter, Kerry Wheeler, Laquy; three half brothers, Jerry Hughes, state of Ohio, Russell Mallory, Kansas City, and Larry Mallory, Huntsville; and five half sisters, Marie Dietzman, Sedalia, Sherily Mallory, Kansas City, Erline St. Clair, Clark, Patsy Hayden, Moberly, and Janice Westlake, Columbia.

Burial was in New Hope Cemetery, near Higbee.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.

Arrangements were under the direction of Million-Taylor-Patton Funeral Home, Higbee.

BARRY

Mary Ruth Barry, 84, California, died Jan. 21, 2002, at Moniteau Care Center, California.

She was born Nov. 30, 1917, near Latham, a daughter of Leonard and Lena Hall Hallford. She was married Jan. 15, 1938, in California, to Earl Barry, who survives at the home.

She worked three years as a seamstress at the California Manufacturing pants factory. She was a checker at Goff's Grocery Store and at IGA, both if California, for six years. She also worked at Reed's Department Store, California.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, California. She attended Latham High School.

Other survivors include one son, Wayne Barry, Boyers, Pa., three grandsons and three step grandsons.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California. The Rev. Greg Morrow will officiate. Burial will be in California City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church, 208 S. Oak St., California, Mo. 65018; or California Nutrition Center, 107 W. Versailles Ave., California, Mo. 65018.

BOSCH

Joseph Clarence Bosch Sr., 85,  Jefferson City, died Jan. 22, 2002, at his home.

He was born April 12, 1916, in St. Thomas, a son of Christopher F. and Frances Meskey Bosch. He was married June 15, 1941, in  Jefferson City, to Lorraine Johanna Schulte, who died June 25, 1985.

He graduated from St. Peters High School and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Army Officer Candidate School, Fort Knox, Ky., and was a veteran of World War II. He served as the adjutant-quartermaster of the State of Missouri VFW from 1947 until his retirement in 1982. He was a life member of VFW Roy Sone Post 1003; Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree; Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2693; and American Legion Roscoe Enloe Post 5. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, the U.S. Horse Cavalry Association, and the American Association of Retired Persons.

Survivors include: three sons, Joseph C. Bosch, Jr. and Christopher F. Bosch, both of  Jefferson City, and Dennis B. Bosch, Independence; six daughters, Sandra C. Amend, Elizabeth "Betty" F. Nilges, Susan M. Bosch, Carolyn A. Welschmeyer, and Michile D. Bosch, all of  Jefferson City, and Eugenia "Jeanne" Bosch, Austin, Texas ; one brother, Walter Bosch, St. Louis; 25 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

One grandson preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Brendan Doyle will officiate. Entombment with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Buescher Memorial Home.

Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or a charity of the donor's choice.

BUTCHER

Charles Ray "Chuck" Butcher, 49, Sunrise Beach, died Jan. 20, 2002, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach.

He was born Sept. 2, 1952, in Windsor, a son of Ralph P. and Marion Hill Butcher. His mother and stepfather, Marion and Clarance Hancock, survive in Camdenton.

He graduated from high school in Harrisonville, and was an Army veteran. He was an automobile mechanic for Mike Shepherd Chrysler Plymouth Dodge, Camdenton.

Other survivors include: one brother, James Butcher, Sunrise Beach; and three sisters, Kaye Green, Clinton, Faye Henry, Belton, and Cherine Brewer, Eldorado Springs.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie. The Rev. Jack Kirkham and the Rev. Gordon Watson will officiate. Graveside services with military honors will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Carpenter Cemetery, near Chilhowee.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

ELLIS

Melvin Thomas Ellis, 56, Tipton, died Jan. 20, 2002, at his home.

He was born May 12, 1945, in St. Joseph, a son of Charles E. and Hattie B. Livingston Ellis. He was married Oct. 14, 1983, in Maysville, to Linda Kay Stahl, who survives at the home.

He worked for St. Joseph Light and Power and Ameren UE for more than 30 years as a lineman. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Tipton, and a youth sports coach.

He was a 1963 graduate of Lafayette High School, St. Joseph, and was a Navy veteran.

Other survivors include: three sons, Melvin T. Ellis Jr., Sunrise Beach, Matthew R. Ellis, Camdenton, and Marc L. Ellis, St. Joseph; one daughter, Tanya M. Ellis, of the home; two brothers, Charles E. Ellis and Frank J. Ellis, both of St. Joseph; three sisters, Wanda B. Andrew, Shirley G. Richardson and Rena G. Brewer, all of St. Joseph; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, Tipton. The Rev. Dusty Klein will officiate. Graveside services with military honors will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Graveside visitation will be from 3-4 p.m. Thursday at the cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Missouri River Hospice/Option Care, 1440 Aaron Court,  Jefferson City, Mo. 65101, or First Baptist Church, 148 E. Morgan, Tipton, Mo. 65081.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California.

JAEGERS

Mathilda Josephine Jaegers, 74, Loose Creek, died Jan. 21, 2002, at Green Meadows Skilled Care Facility, Linn.

She was born July 24, 1927, in Folk, a daughter of Leo and Anna Hertzing Bruemmer. She was married May 15, 1954, in Linn, to Bernard V. Jaegers, who died Sept. 14, 1975.

A homemaker, she also worked for ABB, retiring in 1990. She was a member of St. George Church, Linn.

Survivors include: one son, Bernard Lee Jaegers, Loose Creek; two daughters, Elizabeth "Beth" Davis, Kokomo, Ind., and Linda Deppe, Freeburg; two brothers, Anthony Bruemmer,  Jefferson City, and Larry Bruemmer, Linn.; two sisters, Helen Mantle and Esther Haslag, both of Loose Creek; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. George Church. The Rev. Daniel I.J. Lueckenotte will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Morton Funeral Home, Linn, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of the donor's choice.
