FINLEY
Henrietta June Finley, 76, New Bloomfield, died Jan. 23, 2002, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.
She was born June 25, 1925, in Defiance, a daughter of Henry and Elsie Riske Schneider. She was married Nov. 24, 1956, in Salem, Ark., to Leroy Sam Finley, who died Nov. 18, 1983.
She worked for the Department of Revenue in the late 1940's to the early 1950's and then worked for the city of New Bloomfield as city clerk in the late 1970's and early 1980's. She was a member of the New Bloomfield Christian Church and the Eagles Auxiliary in Jefferson City.
Survivors include: two sons, John Douglas Finley, New Bloomfield, and Joseph "Jay" Wilson Finley, Holts Summit; two sisters, Jeanetta Jean Palmer, Jefferson City, and Dolores Swain Dodson, New Franklin; one brother, Bud Schneider, Centralia; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at New Bloomfield Christian Church. The Rev. Roger Obemeier will officiate. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens in Fulton.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Debo Funeral Home, Holts Summit.
Memorials are suggested to Ellis Fischel Hospital in Columbia, or to the Leukemia Society of America.
SCHOLLMEYER
Alma Christine Schollmeyer, 97, Morrison, died Jan. 23, 2002, at Green Meadow Nursing Home, Linn.
She was born April 10, 1904, in Hope, a daughter of August and Mathilda Broer Hemeyer. She was married Sept. 17, 1925, to Ben H. Krueger, who preceded her in death. She was married Oct. 11, 1958, to Louis A. Schollmeyer, who preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker and a member of Salem-Hope Presbyterian Church, in Hope. She was a member of the Ladies Aid.
Survivors include grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Geraldine Hemeyer, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Salem-Hope Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Landon Grosse will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Salem-Hope Presbyterian Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Homes, Hermann.
SHANNON
Clarence R. "Dick" Shannon Jr., 57, Jefferson City, died Jan. 23, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born July 14, 1944, in Ferguson, a son of Clarence R. Sr. and Rena M. McMickle Shannon. He was married Dec. 22, 1962, in Kansas City, to Martha S. Groom, who survives at the home.
A 1962 graduate of North Kansas City High School, he worked in the hardware business since 1965. He owned and operated a Meyer's Hardware Store in Longmont, Colo. He was a sales representative for many years and was working for Orgill Incorporated, where he was a member of the President's Circle.
He had lived in the Jefferson City area since 1988 and was was a member of Memorial Baptist Church.
Other survivors include: three sons, Michael P. Shannon, Kansas City, John B. Shannon, Holts Summit, and Richard R. Shannon, Jefferson City; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. Ken Lumley will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
RILEY
Donald Earl Riley, 68, Jefferson City, died Jan. 24, 2002, at Boone Hospital Center.
He was born Nov. 10, 1933, in Clermont, Ky., a son of Harry H. and Carrie Belle Hodge Riley. He was married April 24, 1954, in Bardstown Junction, Ky., to Frances LaVerne Shuffit, who survives at the home.
He was a 1952 graduate of Shepherdsville High School in Kentucky. He worked with Kemper Insurance Group, Eagle Star Insurance Company, Providence Washington Insurance Group, and retired in 1999 as vice-president of marketing with Columbia Insurance Group. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church.
Survivors include: three daughters, Penny L. Braun, Norwalk, Iowa, Robin L. Rambo, Latham, and Lisa M. Wilson, Jefferson City; one son, Duffy E. Riley, Bedford Hills, N.Y.; 20 grandchildren.
One granddaughter preceded him in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. The Rev. Monte Shinkle will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Hospital or a charity of the donor's choice.
MITCHELL
Roger Wayne Mitchell, 46, Kaiser, died Jan. 24, 2002, at Lake Regional Hospital, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born Jan. 31, 1955, in Rolla, a son of Issac W. and Eva Dale Woolley Mitchell. His mother survives in Olean.
He was a construction worker.
Survivors include: one sister, Robin Newman, Eldon; four brothers, Ronald Mitchell, Florissant, Ricky Mitchell, Licking, Randy Mitchell, Tuscumbia, and Robert Mitchell, Tipton.
There will be no services. The body will be cremated under the direction of Rekus Funeral Home, Eldon.
EVANS
Geneva J. Evans, 78, Linn, died Jan. 24, 2002, at her home.
She was born Oct. 6, 1923, in Adele, Iowa, a daughter of Samuel G. and Georgia Flinn Little. She was married to Jerry Bellsmith, who preceded her in death. She was later married to Kendall Evans, who also preceded her in death.
She worked for Rockwell International in the state of California until her retirement in 1979. She was a resident of the central Missouri area since 1979.
Survivors include: two sons, Jerry Bellsmith Jr., Linn, and Joseph Lee Bellsmith, Moreno Valley, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Grace E. Leinberger, Linn; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Oklahoma Church of Christ Cemetery, in Osage County. Br. Don King will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
HENLEY
Alvina "Ollie" Smith Henley, 76, Russellville, died Jan. 25, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 27, 1925, in Clifford, N.D., a daughter of Jacob and Mary Johnson Wedwick. She was married Sept. 27, 1943, to George Smith, who died March 6, 1966. She was married in 1973, to Jim Henley, who died in 1986.
A homemaker, she worked for the International Shoe Company, Jefferson City, and the Tipton Pants Factory, Tipton. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Eldon.
Survivors include: three sons, Gerry Smith and Ron Smith, both of Russellville, and Tom Smith, Cole Camp; one daughter, Cheryl Eileen McClintock, Dardeene Prairie; one stepson, Hap Henley, Eldon; one stepdaughter, Melinda Henley, Eldon; two sisters, Sally Anderson, Portland, Ore., and Josie Loftus, Bagley, Minn.; 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Laurel Ann Fulks, died Feb. 21, 1990.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Corticelli Baptist Church, near Russellville. The Rev. Jay Grigson will officiate. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery, Barnett.
Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Sunday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Russellville.
Memorials are suggested to the Hopewell Cemetery Association.
BROCKMAN
Julia J. Brockman, 93, Jefferson City, died Jan. 25, 2002.
She was born Jan. 18, 1909, in Brumley, a daughter of Isaac M. and Mary Eliza Sons Rodden. She was married Nov. 4, 1926, in Columbia, to John J. "Jake" Brockman, who died July 10, 1986.
A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, she attended school in Brumley. A homemaker, she provided day care in her home. She worked at the Tweedie Footwear Factory and the Oberman Manufacturing Company.
Survivors include: three daughters, Pauline Rhodes, Kansas City, Kan., and Ethel Hartman and Mary Jane Coots, both of Jefferson City; one son, John I. Brockman, Russellville; three brothers, Gilbert Rodden, Eddie Rodden and Chester Rodden, all of Brumley; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. Earl Hoskins will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Monday.
Memorials are suggested to Shriners Crippled Childrens Transportation Fund or the Boy Scouts Troop 5.
BALL
Steven Scott Ball, 47, Jefferson City, died Jan. 22, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born March 25, 1954, in Kansas City, a son of James T. and Betty Sue Herington Ball Jr. His mother survives in Jefferson City
He was a 1972 graduate of Westside High School, Omaha, Neb., and received a diploma from Dickinson Business Schools, Jefferson City, in 1977.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Jefferson City.
Other survivors include one brother, James Herington Ball Sr., Chapel Hill, N.C.
Private family services will be today at Riverview Cemetery Mausoleum. The Rev. Rudolph W. Beard will officiate. Entombment will be in Riverview Cemetery Mausoleum.
Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church, the Missouri Special Olympics or a charity of the donor's choice.
