BLAND

Mike Bland, 30, Vienna, died Jan. 25, 2002, in Freeburg.

He was born Oct. 14, 1971, in Rolla, a son of Robert and Darlene Williams Bland. His parents survive in Freeburg. He was married May 20, 1995, in Vienna, to Rosie Sproles, who survives at the home.

He was a member of Rader United Methodist Church, near Vienna, and the Maries County Fair Board. He was the owner and operator of Bland Construction Company, Vienna.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Kaitlyn Bland, of the home; three brothers, Rex Bland and Luke Bland, both of Freeburg, and Mark Bland, Vichy; one sister, Barbara Welschmeyer, Freeburg; and two half brothers, Robert E. Bland Jr., Macomb, Mich. and Richard P. Bland, Fargo, N.D.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Vienna United Methodist Church. The Rev. Karen Alden will officiate. Burial will be in Rader Cemetery, near Vienna.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday and from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Rosie Bland.

Arrangements are under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home.

DUNCAN

Syrus Cole Duncan, infant son of Dustin Duncan and Heather Neville, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, in Columbia.

He was born Oct. 3, 2001, in Columbia. His parents survive in Columbia.

Other survivors include: paternal grandparents, Steve and Cheryl Duncan, Jamestown and Merritt and Michael Mosley, Columbia; maternal grandparents, Shelia Melville and Mike Neville Jr., both of Columbia; paternal great-grandparents, Bettie Mosley, Columbia, and Katy and Pat Cochran, Bend, Ore.; maternal great-grandparents, Hazel Hinshaw and Mike and Patty Neville, all of Columbia, Nancy Duncan,  Jefferson City, and Katherine Binkley, Eugene; and paternal great-great-grandparents, Mark and Evelyn Binkley, Eugene, and Florence Ekstam, Laurie.

Private family services will be Monday at Memorial Baptist Church, Columbia. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery, Columbia.

Private family visitation will be today at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors.

Memorials are suggested Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Research, Box 570,  Jefferson City, Mo. 65102.

HALL

John Elmer Hall Jr., 78, Versailles, died Jan. 25, 2002, at his home.

He was born Dec. 4, 1923, in Manistique, Mich., a son of John Elmer Sr. and Elsie Adella Browning Hall. He was married April 8, 1946, in Stover, to Osa Mae Ritchie, who survives at the home.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II and served from 1950 to 1954. A Baptist by faith, he was a self-employed truck driver and logger. He retired from the Dixon-Ticonderoga Pencil Factory, Versailles, in 1988.

Other survivors include: one son, David L. Hall, Versailles; two daughters, Jo Ann Rumbo and Pattie A. Hall, both of Versailles; one brother, Alvin B. Hall, Deer Park, Wash.; 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Two sons, Steve Hall and John "Butch" Hall, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Sonny Throckmorton will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Ritchie Cemetery, Versailles.

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Monday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.

HIGGINS

Bertha Emma Higgins, 91, Fulton, died Jan. 25, 2002, at Fulton Presbyterian Manor, Fulton.

She was born July 26, 1910, in McGirk, a daughter of Henry A. and Rose E. Pace Maier. She was married Oct. 28, 1933, in Sedalia, to Otto P. Higgins, who died May 4, 1954.

A homemaker, she was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: five daughters, Betty Martin, Carol Baker, Rosalie Wills, Kathryn Hamilton and Patsy Higgins, all of Fulton; three sons, Kenneth D. Higgins and Larry D. Higgins, both of Fulton, and Roger D. Higgins, Ashland; 24 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton. Bruce Williamson will officiate. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens, Fulton.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday.

Memorials are suggested to McGirk Cemetery Association, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas, Fulton, Mo. 65251.

JOBE

Nettie L. Jobe, 99, Eldon, died Jan. 26, 2002, at Miller County Care Center, Tuscumbia.

She was born March 31, 1902, in Gladstone, a daughter of Robert L. and Martha Porter Uptergrove. She was married May 19, 1920, in Rocky Mount, to Earl Curtis Job, who died Sept. 16, 1971.

She worked as a seamstress from her home and for Glaser Brothers Pants Factory, Eldon. She was a charter member of Ninth Street Christian Church, Eldon.

Survivors include: one daughter, Velma L. Cotten, Eldon; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and two step great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ninth Street Christian Church, Eldon. Burial will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens, near Barnett.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Rekus Funeral Home, Eldon.

Memorials are suggested to Ninth Street Christian Church Building Fund or the Miller County Care Center Residents Christmas Fund.

PATTERSON

Private family services were Friday at Resurrection Cemetery for Alexandra Michele Patterson and Megan Marie Patterson, infant twin daughters of William G. and Kathryn Michelle Patterson III, who died Jan. 22, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center. Their parents survive in Centertown.

Other survivors include: maternal grandparents, Bill and Karen Hentges,  Jefferson City; paternal grandfather, William G. Patterson II,  Jefferson City; maternal great-grandmothers, Mary Schwarzer and Marcella Hentges, both of  Jefferson City; paternal great-grandmother, Shirley Kempker,  Jefferson City; and paternal great-grandfather, William G. Patterson,  Jefferson City.

Fr. Ed Schmidt officiated.

Memorials are suggested to St. Martins School.

Arrangements were under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Directors.

WYLIE

Jacqueline Wylie, 81, Osage Beach, died Jan. 24, 2002, at Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach.

She was born Feb. 29, 1920, in Excelsior Springs, a daughter of Ray and Bertha Bryan Johnstone. She was married Jan. 15, 1943, in Excelsior Springs, to Charles Richard Wylie, who died Sept. 7, 1997.

A homemaker, she was a member of Harper Chapel United Methodist Church, Osage Beach, where she was involved in the United Methodist Women and United Methodist Church Quilters.

She was a past president of the Administrative Council and president of the Lake Regional Health System Auxiliary where she was on the Board of the Scholarship Committee.

Survivors include: two sons, Stephen Richard Wylie, Edmond, Okla., and Larry Robert Wylie, Eagan, Minn.; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Harper Chapel United Methodist Church, Osage Beach. The Rev. Bob Hickman will officiate. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Feb. 4 at Crown Hill Cemetery, Excelsior Springs.

Memorials are suggested to Lake Regional Health System Auxiliary or Harper Chapel United Methodist Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach.

HARPER

Services were today for Samuel J. Harper, 68, Grenada, Miss., who died Jan. 26, 2002, at his home.

He was born March 3, 1933. He was married to Mary Ann Harper, who survives in Grenada.

He was owner of OxBox RV Park in Grenada. He was a member of Hardy Baptist Church, Greneda, and the Masonic Lodge. He was an Air Force veteran.

Survivors include: six sons, Robert P. Harper, state of Arkansas, Joseph R. Harper, Los Angeles, James M. Harper, St. Louis, and Wayne Weider, Michael Weider,and Edward Weider, all of  Jefferson City; four daughters, Carla Roesger, Brenda Hildebrand and Carol Strumph, all of  Jefferson City, and Mary Kay Puckett, Eugene; one sister, Leola Fillingane, Hickory, Miss., one brother, Silas Harper, Houston, Texas ; 29 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

One daughter preceded him in death.

Services were in Hardy Baptist Church, Grenada.

Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, Sta-Home Hospice, Greenwood, Miss., or Hardy Baptist Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of National Funeral Home, Grenada, Miss.

MEIER

Emma Josephine Meier, 105,  Jefferson City, died Jan. 26, 2002, at St. Joseph Home for the Aged.

She was born May 21, 1896, in St. Louis, a daughter of Henry L. and Catherine Berisville Schmitt. She was married Sept. 26, 1922, in Sedalia, to Francis Herman Meier, who died Sept. 12, 1931.

She was a homemaker and member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph. She was a member of St. Marys Hospital Auxiliary and St. Mary Circle.

Survivors include: one daughter, Barbara M. Goebel,  Jefferson City; one son, Dr. Francis X. Meier,  Jefferson City; one sister, Kathryn Gembler,  Jefferson City; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

One granddaughter preceded her in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Home for the Aged. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sedalia.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Tuedsay at St. Joseph Home for the Aged.

Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Home for the Aged or the charity of the donor's choice.
