BENNETT
Nancy Ann Bennett, 94, New Bloomfield, died Feb. 4, 2002, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was born Oct. 11, 1907, in Mayetta, Kan., a daughter of Clinton and Lucy Shingleton Paslay. She was married March 28, 1932, in Holton, Kan., to Harold Bennett, who died Nov. 2, 1978.
She had worked at Stormont-Vail Hospital and Santa Fe in Topeka, Kan. She was a member of New Bloomfield Christian Church.
Survivors include: three sons, Clifford Bennett, New Bloomfield, Merle Bennett, Markleville, Ind., and Jack Bennett, Jefferson City; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Mercer Funeral Home, Holton, Kan. Burial will be in Mayetta Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon-1 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
COTTRELL
Rufus Cottrell, 76, Tuscumbia, died Feb. 4, 2002, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach.
He was born June 9, 1925, in Meta, a son of Ed and Nellie Clark Cottrell. He was married in 1979 to Thelma Opland, who survives.
He worked at a saw mill and was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Other survivors include: one son, Steve Cottrell, Eldon; four daughters, Marilyn Conway, Kansas City, Shelia Dennis, Grandview, Janet McGowan, Crocker, and Jeanne Carrall, Shawnee, Kan.; one brother, Wayne Cottrell, Ft. Smith, Ark.; two sisters, Thelma Thompson, Rolla, and Bonnie Johnson, Clinton; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach. Inurnment will be in the Rodden Cemetery in Brumley.
GUMM
Elmer M. Gumm, 91, Iberia, died Feb. 4, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach.
He was born Oct. 9, 1910, a son of Jess and Lovina Silsby Gumm. He was married Dec. 5, 1947, in Brumley, to Wanda Luttrell, who died May 18, 1984. He was married Oct. 12, 1985, in Brumley, to Irene Russell Gumm, who died July 26, 1988.
He was a farmer and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Mt. Union Church of Christ in Brumley.
Survivors include: two stepsons, Duane Gumm, Independence, and Bobby Gumm, Kansas City; three stepdaughters, Anna Mae Berkley, Donna Jones and Judy Baxley, all of Kansas City; and one sister, Lura Markle, Kansas City.
One stepson, Jim Gumm, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The Rev. Gene Edwards will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Mt. Union Cemetery, near Brumley.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.
HOPSON
Fay Irene Hopson, 87, Raytown, formerly of Versailles, died Jan. 19, 2002, in Kenner, La.
She was born June 26, 1914, in Versailles, a daughter of Fred and Eliza Golden McGinnis. She was married Oct. 26, 1932, to Raymond E. Hopson, who died May 26, 1986.
She was a homemaker and a member of the United Methodist Church in Raytown.
Survivors include two granddaughters, Jamie Hopson and Beth Oubre, and two great-grandchildren.
One son, James Earl Hopson, died in 1973.
Graveside services and inurnment will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Versailles Cemetery. The Rev. Jeff Martin will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.
MABEE
Jeffrey Scott "Jeff" Mabee, 37, Stover, died Feb. 4, 2002, at his home.
He was born July 28, 1964, in Fort Wayne, Ind., a son of William and Marilyn June Rousseau Mabee. His mother survives in Wamego, Kan. He was married Sept. 2, 1994, in Fort Wayne, to Vicki Lynn Hardesty, who survives at the home.
He worked as a laminator at Cookbook Publisher's Inc., Sedalia.
Survivors include: seven brothers, Dave Mabee, Manassas, Va., Steve Mabee, Monroeville, Ind., Bob Mabee and Tom Mabee, both of Fort Wayne, Doug Mabee, Fenton, Matt Mabee, Wamego, and Randy Mabee, Florence.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Stover.
The remains will be cremated.
DIETLE
Donald L. Dietle, 75, Jefferson City, died Feb. 6, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born July 7, 1926, in Palmyra, a son of John A. and Ofeleita P. Austin Dietle. He was married Sept. 22, 1951, in Hannibal, to Juanita L. Murphy, who survives at the home.
He graduated from Frankford High School, Frankford, and was a Navy veteran of World War Il. He was a resident of the Jefferson City area since 1966. He worked for the Missouri Highway Department for 42 years, retiring in 1990 as superintendent of equipment and procurement
He was a member of the First Christian Church. He was a member of American Legion Roscoe, Enloe Post 5 and VFW, Roy Sone Post 1003. He was a past member of the Hawthorn Garden Club ,a past member of the BPO of Elks and member of Gideons International.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Jana B. Revell, St. Louis, and Eden G. Dietle, Jefferson City; two sisters, Linda Ellis, Frankford, and Shirley Dierling, Marceline; four brothers, Dewayne Dietle, Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., Roy Dietle, Hannibal, Robie Dietle, Frankford, and Richard Dietle, New London; and one granddaughter.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church. The Rev. Lawrence Veatch will officiate. Graveside services and burial with military honors will be at 1:30 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery, Frankford.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Freeman Mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church, American Heart Association, or American Lung Association.
KERPERIN
Marcella Helen Kerperin, 89, Taos, died Feb. 7, 2002, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was born Nov. 1, 1912, in Taos, a daughter of John G. and Catherine Ann Stegeman Forck. She was married May 4, 1938, in Taos, to August John Kerperin, who died June 13, 1988.
She was a homemaker and a lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Taos.
Survivors include: one son, Robert L. Kerperin, Taos; three daughters, Catherine M. Wankum, Agnes J. Graessle, and Rita J. Kerperin, all of Taos; one sister, Frances Tambke, Jefferson City; two brothers, Louis Forck and James Forck, both of Taos; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. The Rev. J. David Maher will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m Friday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Jefferson City, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Xavier Parish or Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.
MILLER
Robert T. Miller, 78, Independence, died Feb. 5, 2002, at his home.
He was born July 23, 1923, in Jefferson City, a son of William H. Sr. and Margaret L. Bryant Miller. He was married to Frances Palmer, who survives at the home.
He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired painter and decorator.
Other survivors include: one son, Roger Lee Miller, Fair Oaks, Calif.; one daughter, Linda Tatum, Raytown; one brother, Ralph Miller, Kansas City, Kan.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Funeral Home, Kansas City. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Kansas City.
Visitation will be from noon-1 p.m. Friday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
ROBINSON
Robert "Bob" Robinson, 66, Camdenton, died Feb. 5, 2002, at his home.
He was born July 18, 1935, in Exland, Wis., a son of Leslie T. and Alice C. Johnson Robinson. He was married Nov. 6, 1953, to Nancy Schmitendorf, who survives at the home.
He had lived in the Lombard, Ill., area and for 21 years he owned and operated the Highway Sales Lawn & Garden Supply Company.
In 1980, he moved to Camdenton where he owned and operated Valhalla Resort until 1989.
He later worked for Lakewood Resort and Niangua Trailer Park.
Other survivors include: one son Robbie Robinson, Camdenton; two daughters, Debbie Kupronis, Lee's Summit, and Sherry Beasley, Oklahoma City; one brother, Donald Robinson, state of Illinois; four sisters, Myrtle Williams, Camdenton, Peg Samuelson, Lombard, Ill., Linda Lawrence, Rockingham, N.C., and Dorothy Didier, state of Illinois; and three grandsons.
Memorials are suggested to the Center Against Domestic Violence.
