BRYAN

Virginia M. Bryan, 78, Russellville, died Feb. 18, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born Aug. 20, 1923, in Henley, a daughter of Walter and Georgia Nichols Steenburgen. She was married Aug. 9, 1941, to Aubrey Wilburn Hale, who died July 22, 1968. She was married Sept. 20, 1973, in Cahokia, Ill., to Marvin Bryan, who survives at the home.

A homemaker, she was a member of Spring Valley Baptist Church, Henley.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Rebecca Kehr and Vivian Watts, both of Russellville; two sons, Arthur Hale and Jim Hale, both of Henley; four sisters, Juanita Oakley, Flora Hudson and Mary Etta Steenburgen, all of  Jefferson City, and Anna Lea Steenburgen, Virginia Beach, Va.; 17 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four stepchildren, Donna Litton, Linn, Melinda Knox and Dora Knatcal, both of Holts Summit, and Robert Bryan, state of Washington .

One son, Burl Hale, died Feb. 7, 1982.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Spring Valley Baptist Church. The Rev. Cellis Crum will officiate. Burial will be in Hickory Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Weber & Sons Funeral Home, Russellville.

Memorials are suggested to Spring Valley Baptist Church.

ALLEN

Ruth Louise Allen, 91,  Jefferson City, died Feb. 15, 2002, at Westphalia Retirement Center.

She was born Aug. 6, 1910, in  Jefferson City, a daughter of Benjamin and Mary Louise Williams Allen.

She was a graduate of Lincoln University and attended Cornell University. She worked for many years as a secretary at Lincoln University and was a member of the Lincoln University Alumni Association and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

Survivors include: one nephew, Benner C. Turner, Caracas, Venezuela; and one niece, Elizabeth A. Klimas, Dover, N.H.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Quinn Chapel AME Church. Private burial will be at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to Quinn Chapel AME Church or the American Heart Association.

Arrangements are under the direction of Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home,  Jefferson City.

BREWER

Edgar William Brewer, 90, Fulton, died Feb. 18, 2002, at Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital.

He was born March 9, 1911, in Turner Station, a son of Albert and Maude Petty Brewer. He was married in 1939, in St. Louis, to Mary A. Harty, who survives.

He worked at the Fulton State Hospital and was a member of the Oddfellows Lodge in Fulton. He served in the Army for 17 years.

Other survivors include: two sons, Edgar W. Brewer, Bellview, Neb., and Larry Lee Brewer, Fulton; one daughter, Kathleen Lechner, Fulton; one sister, Sara Jane Allen, Springfield; 14 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.

One daughter, Elsie Brewer, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. Ron Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Thursday.

FARR

Zelma Mae Farr, 79, Bella Vista, Ark., died Feb. 19, 2002, at Bates Medical Center, Bentonville, Ark.

She was born Nov. 21, 1922, in Easley, a daughter of Noah T. and Lucy Lee Lester Thomas. She was married to Bruce L. Farr, who died in 1994.

She was a Women's Marine Corps veteran of World War II. She was a transcript analyst for Fort Hays State University, retiring after 23 years. She moved to Bella Vista in 1986 from Hays, Kan., and was a member of Bella Vista Community Church.

Survivors include: two sons, Richard Farr, Manhattan, Kan., and Terry Farr, Bella Vista, Ark.; one brother, Oscar Nelson Thomas,  Jefferson City; one grandchild.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Bella Vista Community Church. The Rev. Richard Lindman will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to Bella Vista Library, 11 Dickens Place, Bella Vista, Ark., 72714; or to Bella Vista Animal Shelter, 32 Bella Vista Way, Bella Vista, Ark. 72714.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory, Bella Vista, Ark.

GALLIVAN

Angeline Catherine "Angie" Gallivan, 94, Wilmington, N.C., died Dec. 17, 2001.

She was born Oct. 12, 1907, in Russellville, a daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Dampf Hitz. She was married Feb. 12, 1939, in  Jefferson City, to Timothy Joseph Gallivan, who died in 1994.

She lived in  Jefferson City until 1943 and then moved to St. Louis. In 1994 she moved to Oregon for six months and then to North Carolina.

Survivors include: one son, Timothy Joseph Gallivan, Jr., Hampstead, N.C.; one daughter, Catherine Gallivan Harrington, Newport, Ore.; one sister, Rose Williams,  Jefferson City; one brother, George Hitz,  Jefferson City; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Calvary Cemetery in Sedalia.

Memorials are suggested to the Elderhaus Inc., 1950 Amphitheater Drive, Wilmington, N.C. 28401.

Arrangements are under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Directors,  Jefferson City.

REPPER

Grace D. Moore Repper, 102, New Bloomfield, died Feb. 18, 2002, in Guthrie.

She was born Aug. 6, 1899, in Wainwright, a daughter of Elstner and Iola McGary Moore. She was married April 2, 1919, in  Jefferson City, to George V. Repper, who died in 1978.

She was a lifelong resident of Callaway County and lived in New Bloomfield since 1930. She was a homemaker and worked for the Department of Revenue until her retirement in 1966. She was a member of New Bloomfield United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star since 1921 and served as pianist for many years. She was a member of the Guthrie Service Club, the Kum Join Us Club, the XYZ Club of New Bloomfield and served as Democratic committee woman for Guthrie township for 24 years.

Survivors include: three sons, George V. Repper Jr., Richmond, Va., Robert E. Repper, Naples, Fla., and Thomas J. Repper, New Bloomfield; one daughter, Margaret L. Christian, Columbia; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandsons.

One infant daughter, Dollie Joan Repper, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Debo Funeral Home, Holts Summit. The Rev. Brad Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be in Link Cemetery, Wainwright.

Visitation will be from 11 a. m.-12:45 p.m. Friday, with an Eastern Star service at 12:45 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to New Bloomfield United Methodist Church Building Fund.

RICE

Leona F. Rice, 87,  Jefferson City, died Feb. 17, 2002, at Oak View Skilled Care Center.

She was born Sept. 18, 1914, in Cobb County, Ga., a daughter of James and Regina Rogers Forama. She was married Sept. 6, 1956, to William D. Rice, who died April 1, 1992.

She worked as a cook for Lincoln University for seven years. She also owned the Brooker T. Hotel Restaurant and Leona's Sandwich Shop. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church, where she was the secretary of the adult Sunday school class and a member of the Court of Calathana. She was a member of the NAACP, the VFW Tony Jenkins Auxiliary Post 231, the Council of Clubs, and the United Church of Women's Club.

Survivors include: one nephew, William Cotton, Cincinnati, Ohio; and five nieces, Joan M. Monroe, Passaic, N.J., Earline McAfee, Claudine Freeman, Mary Glaze and Lois Shepard, all of Marietta, Ga.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Second Baptist Church. The Rev. Cornell C. Sudduth will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the Leona F. Rice Scholarship Fund for Lincoln University, 820 Chestnut Street,  Jefferson City, MO 65101 or the Central Missouri Kidney Association, PO Box 1915, Columbia, MO 65205.

Arrangements are under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Directors,  Jefferson City.

SAXE

Francis Christian Saxe, 89, Fulton, died Feb. 18, 2002, at Fulton Manor.

He was born March 2, 1913, in Vandalia, a son of George and Charlotta DeTiene Saxe. He was married Sept. 11, 1938, in  Louisiana, to Fredia Ermina Dicks, who survives at the home.

He worked for Harbison-Walker Brick Refactories for over 40 years, retiring in 1978. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Vandalia.

Survivors include: one son, Dale Saxe, Columbia; one daughter, Sharon Hogan, Houston, Texas ; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Union Cemetery in Clarence. Bruce Williamson will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Debo Funeral Home.

SIMCOE

Reuben Bernard "Doc" Simcoe, 82, Calwood, died Feb. 18, 2002, at Callaway Community Hospital.

He was born Nov. 27, 1919, in Callaway County, a son of Dr. Reuben S. and Rosa Washington Kemp Simcoe. He was married in 1941 to Mildred May Harris, who died in 1999.

He worked at International Shoe Factory and Central Dairy. He was a state representative from Callaway County from 1951-1967. He then was appointed assistant state budget director by Gov. Warren Hearnes. Later, he worked for State Fiscal Affairs. He also operated a dairy farm in Calwood.

Survivors include: three sons, Donald Simcoe and Wayne Simcoe, both of Calwood, and Sidney Simcoe, Fulton; one daughter, Becky Jamena, Columbia; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton. Burial will be in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, Fulton.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, or to the Calwood Community Center, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas, Fulton, Mo. 65251.
