GRANNAN

David M. Grannan, 50, Roach, died March 1, 2002, at his home.

He was born, April 13, 1951, in Kansas City, a son of Clement M. and Geraldine Corazzin Grannan. His father survives in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. He was married May 14, 1994, in Smithville, to Tamra Jenkins, who survives.

He was an industrial maintenance worker. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He was Catholic.

Survivors include: two sons, Michael Grannan, Kansas City, and Patrick Grannan, of the home; one sister, Michelle Gossett, Mt. Pleasant, S.C.

Services with military honors will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton. The Rev. E. James Wilson will officiate. The body was cremated.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday.

RANUM

Raleigh Vincent Ranum, 86, Eldon, died March 2, 2002, in  Jefferson City.

He was born July 20, 1915, in Barnett, a son of Peter and Myrtie McKay Ranum. He was married April 13, 1941, to Elsie Louise Marriott Ranum, who died April 16, 1989. He was married July 17, 1990, to Marjorie Trembley Ranum, who survives at the home.

He was an electrician, working in Kansas City for a number of years. He moved to Mission, Kan., where he worked for over 20 years for the Bendex Corporation. He was a member of the Nall Avenue Baptist Church, Mission. He moved to Eldon in 1989. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

He also is survived by stepchildren and one sister, Thelma Currence, Eldon.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. Pastor Jerry Frye will officiate. Burial will be in Eldon City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials are suggested to Greenridge Baptist Church, Olean.

SCHMIDT

Clara H. Schmidt, 86, St. Thomas, died March 3, 2002, at her home.

She was born Oct. 22, 1915, in Folk, a daughter of Frank and Mary Boeckman Haselhorst. She was married Sept. 29, 1936, in Folk, to Frank Schmidt, who died Nov. 26, 1991.

A homemaker, she was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, St. Thomas, and St. Ann Sodality. She was a member of the Ladies Quilting Circle and the Over Fifty Club.

Survivors include: three sons, Raymond Schmidt, St. Thomas, Roger Schmidt,  Jefferson City, and Ronald Schmidt, St. Louis; three sisters, Mathilda Wilbers, Loose Creek, Margaret Prenger,  Jefferson City, and Loreen Volmert, Westphalia; six daughters, Mary Ann Fennewald, Meta, Joanne Bax, O'Fallon, Linda Schmidt,  Jefferson City, Alice Reinke, Springfield, Ill., Susan Schmidt, Battlefield, and Judy Howlett, Somerset, Wis.; 21 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Two sons, Joseph Schmidt and Stephen Schmidt, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. The Rev. Donald Antweiler will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at St. Thomas Knights of Columbus Hall, with a rosary at 3:30 p.m. and a Christian wake service at 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Thomas parochial school or parish.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rekus Funeral Home, Meta.

SIMINO

Joe Simino Jr., 58, Osage Beach, died March 1, 2002, at Osage Beach Healthcare Center.

He was born Dec. 30, 1943, in Orlando, Fla., a son of Joseph Sr. and Glenda Baker Simino. His father survives in Dittmer.

Other survivors include: two sons, Kelly Simino, Lake Ozark, and Craig Simino, Eldon; three sisters, Tracy Lee, Dittmer, Jackie Morris, St. Peters, and Becky Boyer, St. Louis; and two grandchildren.

One son, Joseph S. Simino, preceded him in death.

Private family services were held. The body was cremated.

Arrangments were under the direction of Rekus Funeral Home, Eldon.

STEINMAN

Emma Steinman, 86, Argyle, died March 4, 2002, at Maries Manor Health Care Center, Vienna.

She was born July 3, 1915, in Maries County, a daughter of Timothy and Helen Dalhoff Redel. She was married May 6, 1936, in Vienna, to Hubert Steinman, who died July 30, 1992.

She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Argyle; the ladies auxiliary of Argyle VFW Post 8045; and a volunteer at Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital, Columbia. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include: three sons, John H. Steinman, Lancaster, Calif., Timothy B. Steinman, Kansas City, and David L. Steinman, Westphalia; five daughters, Helen M. Lock,  Jefferson City, Ann L. Tappel, Dorothy M. Bax and Agnes L. Steinman, all of Argyle, and Mary E. Bacon, Sharpsburg, Ga..; two brothers, Clem Redel, St. Louis, and Leo Redel,  Jefferson City; one sister, Rita Holtschneider, Rich Fountain; 25 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.

One grandson preceded her in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. The Rev. Mike Murphy will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday, at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna. There will be a prayer service at 6 p.m. Wednesday and a rosary service at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials are suggested to Masses or to St. Aloysius Catholic Church.

WRIGHT

David H. Wright, 78, Holts Summit, died March 4, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born May 9, 1923, in Callaway County, a son of Arthur L. and Mabel M. Byers Wright. He was married June 9, 1951, in Harrisonville, Ark., to Letha Ann Green, who died Jan. 23, 2002.

A lifelong resident of Central Missouri, he attended school in Fulton and was an Army veteran of World War II. He worked as a driver with Cole County Industries for several years. Later, he owned and operated Dave Wright's Dump Truck Service until his retirement. He was a member of VFW Roy Sone Post 1003,  Jefferson City.

Survivors include: one son, David A. Wright, Holts Summit; one daughter, Deborah Goff Bowen, Holts Summit; one brother, A.L. "Shorty" Wright, Holts Summit; three granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.

One great-granddaughter preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. Wendell Stoneburner will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to the Callaway County Animal Shelter in Fulton, or a charity of the donor's choice.

BURKS

Vernice Burks, 58, Eldon, died March 3, 2002, in  Jefferson City.

She was born Jan. 27, 1944, in West Point, Neb., a daughter of George L. and Luella V. White Andres.

She was a home health care aide. She was a member of the Old Path Baptist Church in Eldon. She taught Sunday school and was active in children's church, the ladies group and Bible school.

Survivors include: one son, Demetrius G. Burks, Fulton; two daughters, Audrey E. Huffman Fields and Amanda Burks, both of Eldon; one brother, John Lee "Jack" Andres, Omaha, Neb.; three sisters, Linda Louise Abby and Mary Ann Dimbowski, both of Omaha, and Donna Mae Cropp, Raytown; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 5 p.m. Thursday at Old Path Baptist Church. The Rev. Danny Graham will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Our Lady of the Snows Cemetery, Marys Home.

Memorials are suggested in care of the family.

DeLONG

Marie Josephine Luecke DeLong, 81,  Jefferson City, died March 5, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born Oct. 8, 1920, in St. Louis, a daughter of Frank and Margaret Rademacher Luecke. She was married Feb. 10, 1946, in St. Louis, to Philip W. DeLong, who died May 15, 1987.

She attended St. Agnes Catholic School in St. Louis. She was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral, where she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was a Girl Scout leader and a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, St. Marys Health Center Auxiliary and Meadow Lake Acres Country Club.

Survivors include: one daughter, Beverly Nemer, Columbia; one brother, Norbert Luecke, St. Louis; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Carmelite Monastery Chapel. The Rev. Frederick J. Elskamp will officiate. Entombment will be in Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum.

Memorials are suggested to the Carmelite Monastery, 2201 West Main Street,  Jefferson City, Mo. 65109.

Arrangements are under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Directors.

FERGUSON

Alfred Ferguson, 64, Richland, died March 5, 2002, at his home.

He was born Aug. 16, 1937, in Union City, Tenn., a son of Joseph and Ida Pinion Ferguson. He was marrid Jan. 29, 1998, in Paris, Tenn., to Dawn Vance Plemmons, who survives at the home.

An Army veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars, he served 22 years before retiring in 1975. He was a life member of Crocker VFW Post 4956.

Other survivors include: two sons, Alfred Ferguson, Osage Beach, and Donald Ferguson, Richland; two daughters, Denise Ferguson, Richland, and Sandy Ferguson, Stoutland; four stepsons, Denny Plemmons, Cocoa, Fla., David Plemmons, Oakdale, Calif., Keith Plemmons, Kaiser, and Kevin Plemmons, Brumley; two stepdaughters, Linda Phillips, Richland, and Lisa Phillips, Prathersville; and 25 grandchildren.

One daughter died in 1957.

Military honors will be at 8 p.m. Thursday at Long Funeral Home, Crocker. Cremation will follow.

Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Thursday.
