VERNON

Alice Irene Vernon, 95, Florissant, died March 8, 2002, in St. Louis.

She was born Sept. 4, 1906, in Eldon, a daughter of John and Nancy Jobe Watt. She was married to Lloyd Bishop, who preceded her in death. She was later married to Aubra Vernon, who also preceded her in death.

A graduate of Central Missouri State Teachers College, she taught 40 years in Miller County, retiring from Eldon Public Schools in 1971. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star, where she was worthy matron. She was a charter member of American Association of University Women. A member of Barnett Baptist Church, she was a board member of the Miller County Division of Aging.

Survivors include: one daughter, Nancy Thompson, Maryland Heights; two sisters, Louise Allen, Lake Ozark, and Ruth Thompson, Iberia; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home. The Rev. Randall Bunch will officiate. Burial will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.

THOMAS

R. Noel Thomas, 84, Fulton, died March 12, 2002, of injuries from an automobile accident.

He was born Jan. 2, 1918, near Fulton, a son of Guy F. and Beulah B. Hill Thomas. He was married Aug. 10, 1939, in Ashland, to L. Mae Houchins, who died Feb. 8, 1997.

He attended school in Fulton. He received a bachelor's degree in education and a master's degree in educational administration from Truman State University, Kirksville. He also did graduate work. He worked for International Shoe Co. from 1935-1942. He taught at Harden School in Callaway County and in Keota, Iowa. He retired from Riverview Gardens School District in St. Louis County in 1979, after 28 years as an elementary principal. He was also a licensed real estate broker working in St. Louis and St. Francis counties. He retired from real estate in 1985 and returned to the Fulton area.

He was a member of the Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society in education, a lifetime member of the National Education Association and a member of the Missouri Association of Realtors. He was a Marine veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

Survivors include: one son, Robert Lee Thomas, Kansas City; one daughter, Vicki D. Welch, Kansas City; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. Raymond Iman will officiate. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens, Fulton.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.

RICHARDSON

Ruth Richardson, 76, Camdenton, died March 7, 2002, at Windsor Estates.

She was born Sept. 22, 1925, in Kansas City, Kan., a daughter of James and Rosalee Chipley Pepperdine. She was married to Harley Patrick, who preceded her in death. She was married to Jim Richardson, who survives.

She graduated from Wyandotte High School in Kansas City. She owned and managed a restaurant there for 21 years. She was a Presbyterian.

Survivors include: one son, Kevin Patrick, Tucson, Ariz.; one stepson, Jim Richardson; three grandchildren, five step grandchildren, and two step great-grandchildren.

One son, Randy Patrick and one stepson, Bobby Richardson, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton.

Memorials are suggested to Breast Cancer Research.

ARNOLD

Daryl Wayne Arnold, 61, Syracuse, died March 12, 2002, at his home.

He was born Nov. 11, 1940, in Bunceton, a son of John W. and Laura Frances Williams Arnold. He was married Sept. 7, 1976, in Miami, Okla., to Hertha Viola Alflen, who survives at the home.

He attended school in Tipton. He was a truck driver. He lived in Kansas City for 20 years and moved back to this area in 1984. He owned and operated Daryl's Tire Repair in Syracuse. He also worked for Hall and Riley in Boonville as a truck driver.

Survivors include: two sons, Ricky W. Arnold, Tipton, and Robert A. Arnold, Richmond; three stepsons, Mark A. Alflen, Olathe, Kan., Kenneth L. Finch, Independence, and David E. Finch, Tipton; three daughters, Belinda M. Phillips and Lisa G. Arnold-Seyler, both of Olathe, and Tara J. Arnold, Syracuse; one stepdaughter, Margaret M. Crain, Mansfield; three brothers, Billy G. Arnold, Tipton, and Johnny W. Arnold and Glenn E. Arnold, both of Independence; three sisters, Donna Mae Arnold-Doyel, Tipton, Norma D. Wilks, Independence, and Brenda C. Chunning, Buckner; 10 grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren and one step great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton. The Rev. Woodson Moore will officiate. Burial will be Syracuse Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

NEAL

Letha Neal, 85, Waynesville, died March 10, 2002, in Hallmark Care Center.

She was born Aug. 5, 1916, in Crocker, a daughter of William and Laura Griffin Walters.

She worked at the Quarter Master Laundry, Fort Leonard Wood, as a presser until retirement. She was a member of the Christian Church in Crocker.

Survivors include: one daughter, Merry TePoel, Solon, Iowa; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Long Funeral Home in Crocker. The Rev. William C. Kempen will officiate. Burial will be in Crocker Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday and from 9-10 a.m. Saturday.

LUETKEMEYER

James J. Luetkemeyer, 76, Florissant, died March 10, 2002, at his home.

He was born Aug. 9, 1925, in Meta, a son of Henry and Regina Dickneite Luetkemeyer. He was married June 9, 1952, to Margaret Ann "Peggy" Streich, who survives at the home.

He graduated from Meta High School in 1943. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 40 years. He was a Marine veteran in World War II. He was a member of St. Ferdinand's Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the 3rd Marine Division.

Survivors include: one son, David G. Luetkemeyer, St. Louis; two daughters, Mary G. Short and Ann G. Schnaible, both of Florissant; one brother, George Luetkemeyer, Chicago, Ill; one sister, Margie Luebbert, Meta; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at St. Ferdinand's Catholic Church in Florissant.

The body was donated to St. Louis University School of Medicine.

COBB

J.C. Cobb, 61, Dixon, died March 13, 2002, at his home.

He was born June 1, 1940, in Sugar Grove, Ark., a son of James and Ella Terry Cobb. He was married Dec. 10, 1961, in Reno, Nev., to Cynthia Jane Beesinger, who survives at the home.

He was a member of the Lighthouse Worship Center in Dixon. He worked for the Maries County Road Maintenance Department.

Other survivors include: two sons, David Cobb and James Cobb, both of Dixon; two daughters, Cindy Nozelle, West Plains, and Francine Nieblas, Dixon; two brothers, James Cobb, Yuma, Ariz., and Adel "Bucky" Cobb, Lake Panafaskie, Fla.; four sisters, Rosa Fanning, Dixon, Mary Tidwell and Madalene Brown, both of Lebanon, and Linda Phillips, Dove; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

One granddaughter preceded him in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at March 16, 2002, at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon. Pastor Billy Reese will officiate. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery, Dixon.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today and from 1-2 p.m. Saturday.

Memorials are suggested to the Wheeler Cemetery Care Fund.

JAMES

Helen May James, 95, Russellville, died March 13, 2002, at Oak View Living Center.

She was born Nov. 12, 1906, in Olean, a daughter of Lawrence and Rosa Whippo Agee. She was married March 8, 1930, in  Jefferson City, to Chris James, who died Nov. 13, 1963.

A 1926 graduate of Olean High School, she was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Russellville. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include: one daughter, Juanita Utt, Russellville; two step grandsons; two great-grandchildren; and one step great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by one grandson and one step grandson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Weber and Sons Funeral Home, Russellville. The Rev. Alan Earls and the Rev. Farrie L. Cole will officiate. Burial will be in Enloe Cemetery, Russellville.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of  Jefferson City.

PETREE

Daviny Dawn Petree, 22, Algonac, Mich., formerly of  Jefferson City, died March 13, 2002, at St. Louis University Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

She was born Nov. 16, 1979, in Boonville, a daughter of David C. and Alice Jones Petree. Her father survives in Otterville and her mother survives in  Jefferson City.

She attended school in Otterville and was a graduate of Eugene High School. She attended Lincoln University. She was a Presbyterian.

Survivors include: one son, Brandon Fisher, Algonac; two daughters, Ronica Rinker and Alanda Rinker, both of Algonac; four brothers, William Cahow, Farmington, Larry Cahow, Oak Grove, Russell Petree and James Petree, both of Warrensburg; and her fiancé, Ron Rinker, Algonac.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The Rev. Henry Shelly will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Iberia.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.

Memorials are suggested to a trust fund for her children.

DIETZEL

Roy J. Dietzel, 86, Netawaka, Kan., died March 13, 2002, in a Netawaka nursing home.

He was born Jan. 6, 1916, in Jamestown, a son of John and Barbara Schull Dietzel.

He began preaching in 1940 after leaving Jamestown and continued for as long as he was able.

Survivors include: five brothers, Charles Dietzel, Everett Dietzel and Alvin Dietzel, all of Jamestown, Earl Dietzel, Columbia, and Paul Dietzel, Hallsville; and one sister, Rose Helen Wyckoff, Jamestown.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jamestown Community Center. Burial will be in California City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the center.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Weber and Sons Funeral Home.
