MORTON

David Richard Morton, 52, St. Louis, died March 13, 2002, at Christian Northeast Hospital, St. Louis.

He was born April 9, 1949, in Mansfield, Ohio, a son of David and Mary Claudine Sappenfield Morton. His mother survives in  Jefferson City. He was married May 22, 1982, in Mexico, to Jane Yates Offutt, who survives at the home.

He graduated from Chamois High School and attended the hospital school for handicapped children in Iowa City, Iowa. He attended Meramac Community College and graduated from Notre Dame College, St. Louis. He earned his masters degree in mass media from Webster University, St. Louis, and his masters degree in theology from the Eden Seminary, St. Louis.

He was a member of Our Lady of Loretto Church, Spanish Lake. He was a freelance writer and playwright. He published several books on theology, and he wrote several plays that were produced by Meramac Community College and the St. Louis City Players.

Other survivors include one sister, Sandra Tuerk,  Jefferson City.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Morton Funeral Home, Linn. The remains were cremated. The Rev. Fr. James Offutt will officiate. Burial will be in Linn Memorial Park Cemetery, Linn.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2001 South Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, Mo. 63131.

GEISER

Walter Edward Geiser, 86, Tipton, died March 16, 2002, at Tipton Manor Rest Home.

He was born Nov. 26, 1915, near Tipton, a son of Louis V. and Catherine Knipp Geiser. He was married Sept. 10, 1938, in Tipton, to Margaret Elmlinger, who died in 1983.

He was a lifelong resident of the Tipton area. He drove a school bus for the Tipton school for 49 years and was a self-employed plumber for 40 years. He was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Tipton.

Survivors include: one son, James Geiser, Tipton; two daughters, Judy Bush, Tavares, Fla., and Evelyn Harris, Allen, Texas ; one sister, Frances Milligan, Tipton; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church. The Rev. Henry Reichert and the Rev. Vince Linnebur will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton.

Memorials are suggested to St. Andrew's Catholic Church.

BANDELIER

Theodore Henry Simon Bandelier, 96, St. Martins, died March 17, 2002, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.

He was born July 6, 1905, in Lohman, a son of Emanual and Margaret Strobel Bandelier. He was married July 23, 1939, in Schubert, to Opal A. Brenner, who died July 12, 1992.

A lifelong resident of Cole County, he was a farmer and worked in farm related businesses. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lohman, and the Mid-MO Old Car Club.

Survivors include: one son, Ronald Bandelier, St. Martins; one daughter, Mary Lou Renfrow, St. Martins; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The Rev. Carl R. Gauck will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home and from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Building Fund or a charity of the donor's choice.

HARRIS

David Wayne Harris Sr., 42, Macks Creek, died March 14, 2002, in Camdenton.

He was born March 7, 1959, in Austin, Texas , a son of Clifford and Edith Menn Harris. His father and stepmother, Clifford and Paula Harris, survive in Marble Falls, Texas . His mother, Edith Harris, survives in Macks Creek.

Survivors include: two sons, David Wayne Harris, Jr., and Michael James Harris, both of Macks Creek; three brothers, J.D. Harris, Greenview, Dana Harris, Camdenton, and John Harris, Houston, Texas ; one sister, Debbie McKirdy, Amarillo, Texas ; and one stepsister.

Services will be at 7 p.m. today at Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton. The Rev. Paul Stephens will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today.

HAMACHER

Margaret L. Hamacher, 86,  Jefferson City, died March 17, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born April 14, 1915, in  Jefferson City, a daughter of Joseph and Florence Schepker Kliegel. She was married May 23, 1933, in  Jefferson City, to James D. Hamacher, who died Dec. 2, 1994.

She attended St. Peter's School. She worked for Herman's Department Store for many years until her retirement. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella.

Survivors include: one son, Jerry Hamacher,  Jefferson City; two daughters, Betty McMichael, Florissant, and Judy Hasenbeck,  Jefferson City; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

One son, David Hamacher, died Aug. 30, 1975.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors.

Memorials are suggested to St. Peter's Catholic Church Building Fund.

HELTON

Services were today for Mildred Velma Helton, 86,  Jefferson City, who died March 13, 2002, at her home.

She was born Sept. 26, 1915, in Summersville, a daughter of James B. and Mamie Gray Cooley.

Survivors include: one son, Jim Turner, Pevely: one daughter, Cathy Fletcher,  Jefferson City; one sister, Ona Fross, Corvalis, Ore.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services were at Duncan Funeral Home, Summersville. Albert Steelman officiated. Burial was in the Summersville City Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Duncan Funeral Home, Summersville.

KITTEL

Wayne Andrew Kittel Sr., 67, High Point, died March 15, 2002, at Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital, Columbia.

He was born Aug. 16, 1934, in Grand Island, Neb., a son of Andrew and Gladys Nash Kittel. He was married May 1, 1954, in Grand Island, to Ruth Ellen McMurrin, who survives.

He worked in the propane industry for many years before retiring in 2002. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include: two sons, Wayne Kittel Jr., Columbia, and John Kittel, Salem, Ohio; three daughters, Su Surface, Eldon, Vicki Maden, Bay City, Texas , and Melinda Tucker, Monrovia, Calif.; two brothers, Leonard Kittel, state of Colorado, and Kenneth Kittel, state of Nebraska; two sisters, Helen Hazzard, state of Nebraska, and Mildred Warren, state of Wyoming; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at a later date in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Grand Island, Neb.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Research Foundation.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

MEYER

Charles William Meyer, 79, California, died March 17, 2002, at his home.

He was born April 23, 1922, in Cooper County, a son of Henry A. and Leona Schuster Meyer. He was married Sept. 1, 1947, in California, to Opal Mae Medien, who survives at the home.

He graduated from Boonville High School. He had lived in High Point and was a lifelong farmer in the area. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Annunciation Church in California and the Knights of Columbus. He was a former board member of the Farm Bureau and the MFA in California. He was a past president of the NFO in Moniteau County and was a member of the Moniteau County, Missouri and National Cattlemen's Association. He was a member of VFW Post 4345 in California.

Other survivors include: one son, Wayne Meyer, High Point; three daughters, Suzy Allee and Lynne Fulks, both of High Point, and Kathy Murphy, Manchester; three sisters, Eva Bence, St. Louis, Martha Day, Egan, Minn., and Dorothy Miller, Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Two infant children, Glenda Marie Meyer and James Charles Meyer, and one grandson, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Annunciation Catholic Church. Msgr. Francis Gillgannon will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today, with prayer services at 7 p.m., at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California.

Memorials are suggested to Annunciation Catholic Church, 404 W. Patrick, California, Mo. 65018 or Missouri River Hospice, 1440 Aaron Court,  Jefferson City, Mo. 65109.
