OBERMILLER

Marianna Obermiller, 84,  Jefferson City, died March 20, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born Dec. 31, 1917, in Jackson, a daughter of Theodore and Ethel Davis Obermiller.

She graduated from Jackson High School and Northwest Missouri State Teachers College. She taught in Paola, Kan. and Shenandoah, Iowa. She was a Navy veteran of World War II. She then taught girls physical education at Simonsen Junior High School. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she was a teacher and deaconness. She was nominated in 1952 to compete for McCalls Magazine's Teacher of the Year Award. She was a member of Cole County Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include: three brothers, James Obermiller, Grand Rapids, Mich., Jack Obermiller, Stuart, Fla., and Jerry Obermiller,  Jefferson City; three sisters, Martha Egley, Webster Groves, Madge Abernathy, Centerville, Ohio, and Myra Obermiller,  Jefferson City.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Rudolph W. Beard will officiate. Entombment will be in Riverview Cemetery Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Directors.

EVELER

Geraldine M. "Gerry" Eveler, 64,  Jefferson City, died March 20, 2002, at Hospice of  Jefferson City Friendship House.

She was born Oct. 9, 1937, in Meta, a daughter of Leo and Teresa Reinsch Grafe. She was married June 2, 1956, in Meta, to Robert Pete Eveler, who survives in Centertown.

A 1955 graduate of Fatima High School, she was a waitress at Oscars Steakhouse for 15 years, retiring in 1980. She was a member of St. Martins Catholic Church and was formerly a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was a homemaker.

Other survivors include: three sons, Gary Eveler and Mitch Eveler, both of St. Martins, and Keith Eveler,  Jefferson City; one daughter, Lori Burnett, Stafford, Va.; one sister, Norma Jean Vaughan,  Jefferson City; one brother, Raymond Grafe, Westphalia; and 11 grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Martins Catholic Church. The Rev. Ed Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors,  Jefferson City, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Martins School or to Hospice of  Jefferson City Friendship House.

ENLOE

Maudie Enloe, 73, Russellville, died March 20, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 27, 1928, in California, a daughter of Albert and Bessie Brizendine Less. She was married March 22, 1952, to Lester Enloe, who survives in  Jefferson City.

She worked at International Shoe Company and for Mertens Mini-Mart, Russellville, until her retirement. She was a Baptist.

Other survivors include two brothers, Robert Less,  Jefferson City, and Dean Less, California, and one sister, Mary Lee O'Banion,  Jefferson City.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Russellville. Burial will be in Enloe Cemetery, Russellville.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to Enloe Cemetery or a charity of the donor's choice.

JAMES

Coyle E. James, 80, Gravois Mills, died March 18, 2002, at his home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie.

HASSELMAN

Edward L. Hasselman, 73,  Jefferson City, died March 17, 2002, at the University of California at San Diego-Hillcrest, San Diego.

He was born Nov. 16, 1928, in Mahaska County, Iowa, a son of Lawrence W. and Agatha Klein Hasselman. He was married Sept. 21, 1950, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Norma J. McFall, who survives at the home.

A 1946 graduate of Oskaloosa High School, Oskaloosa, Iowa, he attended Central College, Pella, Iowa.

He was a farmer and a right-of-way supervisor for Central Electric Power Co-Operative from 1966 until his retirement in 1995. He also was a land developer in the  Jefferson City area. An Air Force veteran, he was a member of First Christian Church of  Jefferson City and American Legion Post 5.

Other survivors include: two sons, Michael L. Hasselman and Randel "Kent" Hasselman, both of  Jefferson City; one sister, Phyllis Kooyman, Pella; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. The Rev. Lawrence W. Veatch will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church or the Glaucoma Association.

DOWDY

George M. Dowdy, 83, Eldon, died March 20, 2002, in Eldon.

He was born Dec. 15, 1918, in Bates City, a son of Stuart M. and Katherine Fowler Dowdy. He was married Feb. 26, 1949, in Carrollton, to Marjorie Jane Minor, who died Feb. 16, 1982.

A graduate of Greenridge High School, he studied agriculture at Central Missouri State College. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II, and later was in the Army. He was employed with the Corps of Engineers on the Missouri River for two years.

He retired in 1982 after 20 years with MoDOT as a heavy equipment operator. He then worked with registered cattle and horses. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lee's Summit. He was a 50-year member of Greenridge Masonic Lodge; a 52-year member of the International Brangus Breeders Association; the Heart of America Brangus Breeders Association; the Riverrats Association of Retired River Workers; and the Retired MoDOT Employees.

Survivors include: one son, Wes M. Dowdy, Eldon; one daughter, Jennie L. Graham, Lake Ozark; one brother, Walter F. Dowdy, Otterville; one sister, Mary Katherine Williams, Otterville; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

One grandson preceded him in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. Pastor Jerry Middleton will officiate. Burial will be in Greenridge Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to Greenridge Cemetery.

FIEDLER

Services were Feb. 13 for Dr. William Albert Fiedler, 82, Lockwood, formerly of Bland, who died Feb. 11, 2002 at the Missouri Veterans' Home, Mt. Vernon.

He was born Sept. 6, 1919, in Keokuk, Iowa, a son of Albert W. and Anna Reimers Fiedler. He was married to Evelyn R. Henkle, who preceded him in death. He was married Oct. 15, 1970, in Bland, to Lora Faye Vaile, who survives.

He graduated from Keokuk High School. He received his undergraduate degree from Wesleyan College and his doctor of osteopathy from Kirksville College of Osteopathy and Surgery in 1953. He practiced medicine in Bland for 17 years, moving to Lockwood in 1975, where he practiced until his retirement in 1993. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Bland and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lockwood. He was a member of Roy E. Carr Post 239 American Legion, Lockwood.

Other survivors include: two sons, Douglas L. Fiedler, Independence, and Alan O. Rickard, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; three daughters, Debra L. Shore, Annapolis, Md., Milia S. Engelage, Lockwood, and Sandra L. Anthony, Roanoke, Texas ; one sister, Margaret Pitts, Lockwood; and 12 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.

Services were at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lockwood. Pastor Gary Griffin officiated. Burial with military honors was in Sycamore Cemetery, northeast of Miller.

Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran, Good Shepherd Nursing Home, or the Missouri Veterans' Home in Mt.Vernon.

Arrangements were under the direction of Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home, Miller.

LYNCH

Elizabeth Lynch, 57, Osage Beach, died March 19, 2002, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach.

She was born Sept. 21, 1944, in St. Louis, a daughter of Gilbert and Ethal White Fowler. She was married in November 1992 to Michael Lynch, who survives at the home.

She was a homemaker and a Lutheran.

Survivors include: three sons, Larry Eichholz, Joseph Eichholz and Anthony Robin, all of St. Louis; two stepsons, Michael Lynch and Christopher Lynch, both of St. Louis; two daughters, Susan Eichholz, St. Louis, and Deana Defino, St. Charles; four brothers, Gilbert Fowler, Chattanooga, Tenn., Buddy Fowler and Jim Fowler, both of St. Louis, and Jeff Fowler, state of Indiana; one sister, Shirley Mikus, St. Louis; 13 grandchildren; one step grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach. The Rev. John Dautenhahn will officiate.

Visitation will be from 3-4 p.m. Friday.

SPENCER

Emily Spencer, 95, Eldon, died March 20, 2002, in  Jefferson City.

She was born March 28, 1906, in Taos, a daughter of John H. and Anna Helen Wekenborg Eiken. She was married March 28, 1932, in  Jefferson City, to William Earl Spencer, who died Sept. 9, 1967.

A longtime resident of Eldon, she was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Eldon.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by three grandchildren, including Sandra Weller, Eugene.

Two sons, Robert Spencer and Roger Spencer, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. James J. O'Sullivan will officiate. Burial will be in Eldon City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

Memorials are suggested to Our Lady of the Snows Cemetery in memory of Roger Spencer, c/o Anna Marie Lepper.
