FISCHER

Evelyn T. Fischer, 70,  Jefferson City, died June 13, 1999, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 25, 1929, in Bagnell, a daughter of Fred M. and Stella Ann Shadwick Woods. She was married Oct. 29, 1949, in Kansas City, to Morris G. Fischer, who died May 26, 1967.

A lifelong resident of the  Jefferson City area, she attended  Jefferson City High School. She was employed as a cashier at Oak Hills Golf Course and the  Jefferson City Ice Arena from 1981 until her retirement in 1997.

She was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church.

Survivors include: one son, Dennis L. Fischer, St. Peters; one daughter, Bianca "Binky" Sanders,  Jefferson City; one brother, Bill Woods, Hazelwood; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Faith Lutheran Church. The Rev. Alvin Lange will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Faith Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

SWANSTONE

Dr. Floyd Truman Swanstone, 73,  Jefferson City, died June 13, 1999, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born July 1, 1925, in Cooper County, a son of Truman H. and Grace Magdalene Oerly Swanstone. He was married Oct. 11, 1948, in Morristown, N.J., to Alice Estelle Hyers, who survives at the home.

A graduate of Boonville High School, he attended Central Methodist College. He graduated from the University of Missouri College of Agriculture in 1947 and received a doctor of veterinary medicine degree from the University of Missouri in 1954.

A Navy veteran of World War II, he practiced veterinary medicine in Boonville for 25 years. He then worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Woodward, Okla., for three years, and at the Cargill plant in California for 11 years.

He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and a former member of First Christian Church, Boonville. He was a member of the VFW Post, Masonic Lodge and Fraternal Order of Eagles, all in Boonville; Ararat Shrine Temple, Kansas City; American Legion Post 5 and various professional organizations.

Other survivors include: four daughters, Helen E. "Bette" Cromer, Richmond, Texas , Sharon A. Glenn, Seattle, Linda S. Carlson, Shawnee, Kan., and Shirley J. Conner, Portales, N.M.; two sisters, Helen Mills and Jane Schuppan, both of Columbia; and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church, Boonville. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Boonville.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, and from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, Wesley United Methodist Church or to First Christian Church, Boonville.

HARRISON

Services were today for Mabel Harrison, 85, Owensville, who died June 13, 1999, at Frene Valley Health Center, Owensville.

She was born July 27, 1913, in Le Bouef, a daughter of Dennis and Nancy Robertson Ridenhour. She was married April 26, 1934, to Delmar Harrison, who died June 1, 1977.

A graduate of Belle High School, she received a teaching certificate from Central Missouri State College, Warrensburg, and taught school. She was a member of First Christian Church, Belle.

Survivors include: two sons, Gene Harrison, O'Fallon, and Bob Harrison, Owensville; one daughter, Barbara Enloe, Ellisville; two sisters, Gertrude Dingley, Linn, and Ora Backues, Holts Summit; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services were at First Christian Church. Don Wortman and Ken Patterson officiated. Burial was in Liberty Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Sassman's Funeral Home.

HONSE

Lucy Honse, 90, Vienna, died June 14, 1999, at Maries Manor Health Care Center, Vienna.

She was born Nov. 15, 1908, near Vienna, a daughter of Burke and Mahaley Daniels Ragen. She was married Nov. 23, 1928, in Rolla, to Willard Honse, who died Aug. 3, 1994.

A homemaker, she was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church, Vienna.

Survivors include: three sons, Kenneth Honse, Holts Summit, David Honse, New Bloomfield, and Michael Honse, O'Fallon; three daughters, Goldene Workman, Vienna, June Wilson, St. Louis, and Elizabeth Arthur, Holts Summit; 24 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by one son, John Honse, and one daughter, Ruth Woods.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna. The Rev. Cellis A. Crum will officiate. Burial will be in Vienna Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to the Vienna Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund, or to Union Hill Baptist Church, Vienna.

CAIN

Sandra Jean Cain, 58,  Jefferson City, died June 13, 1999, at her home.

She was born Oct. 16, 1940, in Queen City, a daughter of Noel and Kathleen Bergman Yates. She was married April 21, 1961, in Queen City, to Cloyd "Bubby" Cain, who survives at the home.

A 1958 graduate of Queen City High School, she attended airline school in Minneapolis. She worked at Lambert Glove Factory, McGraws in Kirksville and was an assistant cook at the Queen City school.

She was employed by Schuyler County Nursing Home from 1976 until 1992, when she moved to  Jefferson City. She then worked at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.

She was a member of Queen City United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She was a former mayor of Queen City and served on the city council. She was a Girl Scout leader and a member of Mission Awareness for the Sisters of St. Mary's.

Other survivors include: three sons, Randy Cain, Urbandale, Iowa, Breck Cain, Kalona, Iowa, and Terry Cain,  Jefferson City; two daughters, Mary Rochon Lay,  Jefferson City, and Sherry Corbett, Gilbert, Ariz.; one brother, Rex Yates, Queen City; and 10 grandchildren.

One granddaughter preceded her in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Dooley Funeral Home, Queen City. The Rev. Dan Todd will officiate. Burial will be in Queen City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

DAKE

Raymond Loyd Dake, 70, Eldon, died June 13, 1999, at Lake of the Ozarks General Hospital, Osage Beach.

He was born May 29, 1929, in Ulman, a son of Everett A. and Katie MacAnally Dake. He was married Dec. 13, 1958, in Tuscumbia, to Grace Thompson, who survives at the home.

He was a 1946 graduate of Iberia High School and attended Iberia Academy. An Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he worked as a laborer in manufacturing.

He was a member of Mountainview Church of Christ and the DAV.

Other survivors include one son, Neal Dake, Eldon, and one brother, Everett Dake Jr., Iberia.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. Burial will be in Tuscumbia Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials are suggested in care of the family.

RILEY

Abbie Myrtle Riley, 94,  Jefferson City, died June 13, 1999, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.

She was born Dec. 25, 1904, near Pollock, a daughter of John P. and Della Ledford Robinson. She was married Dec. 24, 1927, in Milan, to Orville Dudley Riley, who died April 8, 1986.

A 1923 graduate of Pollock High School, she had lived in Green City. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Versailles. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include: one son, Robert Riley,  Jefferson City; one daughter, Carol Deem, Panama City Beach, Fla.; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

One son, Orville Dean Riley, died in March 1999.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Glenn E. Kent & Son Funeral Home, Green City. The Rev. Eugene Runnels will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Green City.

SCHROEDER

Claris Fox Schroeder, 91, Springfield, died June 13, 1999, at St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield.

She was born Dec. 15, 1907, in Ava, a daughter of Richard and Huldah Huffman Fox. She was married Oct. 2, 1927, in Salina, Kan., to Allynn Schroeder, who died June 1, 1961.

She moved from Hutchinson, Kan., to Centertown in 1935. She moved to the Lohman area in 1940, where she farmed until 1961. She moved to Springfield from Tulsa, Okla., in 1977.

Survivors include: one son, William Schroeder, Springfield; one sister, Ruth Tohl, Mill City, Ore.; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Funeral Home, Springfield. The Rev. Steve Phillip Schultz will officiate. Burial will be in Ava Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, 1675-N E. Seminole, Springfield, Mo. 65804

SHEPHERD

Glenn Shepherd, 61, Macks Creek, died June 13, 1999, at Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital, Columbia.

He was born May 25, 1938, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., a son of Clifford L. and Frances Clendenan Shepherd. He was married to Carol Herholzer, who preceded him in death.

He co-owned Freebee Publications, which included the Ozark Freebee, the Camden County Reporter and the Westlake Gazette. He also published the Lake of the Ozarks Real Estate Guide.

He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Polar Bear Club.

Survivors include: two daughters, Linda Burns and Annette Panton; three sons, Richard Shepherd, Glenn Shepherd and James Shepherd; three brothers, Richard Shepherd, Curtiss Shepherd and Roland Shepherd; one sister, Sherry Corulli; three granddaughters and five step grandchildren.

One son, Clifford Shepherd, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton.

Memorials are suggested to V.F.W. Post 3600, Climax Springs, Mo. 65324.
