EMMERICH

Flossie M. Emmerich, 92, Henley, died April 11, 2002, in Henley.

She was born July 19, 1909, in Cole County, a daughter of Melita "Lit" Honaker and Minnie Hodge Honaker. She was married Aug. 2, 1936, in Henley, to Charles P. Emmerich Sr., who preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1997.

She attended Spring Valley School. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church, Henley.

Survivors include: one daughter, Shirley Felber, Henley; three sisters, Pearl Emmerich and Irene Russell, both of Henley, and Fern Slone of  Jefferson City; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Two sons, Lonnie Ray and Charles "Pete" Emmerich Jr., preceded her in death.

Services are 3 p.m. Sunday at Weber and Sons Chapel in Russellville.

Visitation is 1-3 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

HILKEMEYER

Elizabeth Hilkemeyer, 72, Freeburg, died April 11, 2002, at her home.

She was born Sept. 26, 1929, in Westphalia, a daughter of John and Mary Holterman Temmen. She was married Sept. 9, 1950, in Freeburg, to Norbert H. Hilkemeyer, who preceded her in death in 1999.

She and her husband owned and operated Hilkemeyer's Sporting Goods Store in Freeburg since 1950. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church.

Survivors include: three sons, Nicholas Hilkemeyer, Patrick Hilkemeyer, and Bernard Hilkemeyer, all of Freeburg; two daughters, Christine Luna, and Caroline Hilkemeyer, both of Freeburg; two sisters, Augusta Haslag, Frankenstein, and Sophie Wilde, Koeltztown; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg. The Rev. Michael Murphy will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., Sunday at Kordes Funeral Home in Vienna.

BOND

Cecil J. Bond, 76, Eldon, died April 12, 2002, in  Jefferson City.

He was born May 2, 1925, in Etterville, a son of Thomas Alvie Bond and Clara Maggie Graham Bond. He was married April 17, 1946, in Eldon, to Dorothy Farris, who preceded him in death on Dec. 30, 1996.

He was a real estate agent, a member of the VFW Post 2442 of Eldon, the American Legion and Eagles Lodge, both of  Jefferson City. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church, Eldon.

He served in the Navy aboard the Boston Heavy Cruiser.

Survivors include: one daughter, Jacqueline Cox, Barnett; one brother, Winfred Bond, Eldon; one sister, Maxine Albertson, Eldon; and two grandsons.

Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Eldon. The Rev. Randall Branch will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in the Spring Garden Cemetery, Eugene.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Eldon or the American Cancer Society.

ARNOLD

Lester Arnold, 94, Eldon, died April 11, 2002, in Osage Beach.

He was born Aug. 24, 1907, in Camden County, a son of Water Anderson and Amanda Thompson Arnold. He was married Dec. 16, 1937, in Tuscumbia, to Georgia Musick, who survives at the home.

He was a farm worker for K. Darpinian and Sons Incorporated.

Other survivors include: one son, Walter Arnold, Escalon, Calif.; one sister, Mae Arnold, Eldon; two grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Tuscumbia.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday.

Memorials are suggested to a hospice service of the donor's choice.

CHENOWETH

B.J. (Joe) Chenoweth, 95, Arizona City, Ariz., formerly of Eldon, died April 12, 2002, in Arizona City.

He was born Jan. 6, 1907, in DeSoto, a son of Frank and Blanch Slinkhard Chenoweth. He was married Aug. 19, 1929, to Theresa Ellen Frye, who died Aug. 25, 1974. He later was married Feb. 22, 1982, in Arizona City, to Anne Chenoweth, who survives at the home.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Eldon. He was employed by Union Electric Co. for 44 years, retiring as a superintendent.

Other survivors include: one son, the Rev. Robert Chenoweth, St. Louis; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Helen Dowers, of Colorado Springs, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Eldon, with the Rev. Robert Chenoweth officiating. Burial will be in the Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.

FRANCO

Sister Bertha Franco, CCVI, 53, Springfield, died April 12, 2002, at her home.

She was born Oct. 19, 1948, in El Paso, Texas , a daughter of Antonio and Cecilia Franco, who both survive in El Paso.

Her vocational assignments included service at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church,  Jefferson City, and frequent retreats and Vocations work in Mid-Missouri.

Other survivors include: one brother, Antonio Franco III, San Antonio, Texas ; and four sisters, Frances Rivera, Grace Aldaco, Katy Rodriguez and Martha Vega, all of El Paso.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Agnes Cathedral, Springfield, with Bishop John J. Leibrecht officiating.

A second service will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in St. Francis Xavier College Church at St. Louis University, Grand Blvd. and Lindell Street, St. Louis.

Burial will be in the Incarnate Word Cemetery in Belnor, in St. Louis County.

A Vesper Service will be at 7 p.m. today in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Springfield, with a Vigil to continue through the night.

Visitation in St. Louis will be from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., in Colliers Funeral Home, 3400 N. Lindbergh Blvd.

Memorials are suggested to the Missouri Ministries of the Sisters of Charities of the Incarnate Word, P.O. Box 15378, San Antonio, Texas , or to the New Hope GYN Cancer Support, 1914 Fremont Hills Dr., Nixa, MO 65714.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut St., Springfield.

HOLDER

Jim Holder, 75, Eldon, died April 12, 2002, in Osage Beach.

He was born Sept. 27, 1926, in Yukon, a son of Charles A. and Alma A. Westerman Holder. He was married Oct. 21, 1961, in Centerville, Ill., to Dorothy Goodson, who survives at the home.

He was an Army veteran of World War II. He worked for the Lever Brothers Soap Co. in St. Louis for 21 years, then he was a truck driver and heavy equipment operator for Naumann Equipment Co.

Other survivors include: one son, Michael Steen, Rogers, Ark.; one daughter, Gayla Truitt, Eldon, and Pamela Abrams, Joplin; one brother, Kenneth Holder, Houston, Mo.; one sister, Donna Armfield, Baldwin; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon, with the Rev. Keith Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Garden Cemetery, Eugene.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday.

Memorials are suggested in care of the family.

MAGRUDER

V. Vivian Magruder, 82, Columbia, died April 13, 2002, at the Boone Hospital Center, Columbia.

She was born Jan. 22, 1920, in Centralia, a daughter of Elmer C. and Cora Belle Phelps Lanham. She was married Dec. 4, 1938, in Fayette, to Charles C. Magruder, who died Dec. 5, 2001.

She was a member of the Parkade Baptist Church, Columbia. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Mall Walkers and Columbia Business Women's Association. She worked 20 years for the MFA/Shelter Insurance Co. before retiring in 1979.

Survivors include: one son, Philip C. Magruder, Columbia; two daughters, Martha Palmer, Columbia, and Virginia Fick, Rich Fountain; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Home, Columbia. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Monday.

Memorials are suggested to Coyote Hill Christian Children's Home, 9501 Coyote Hill Rd., Harrisburg, MO 65256.

SILVERNAIL

Fay L. Silvernail, 74, Eugene, died April 12, 2002, at the Capital Region Medical Center,  Jefferson City.

He was born Dec. 13, 1927, in Gillette, Wyo., a son of Ralph and Elizabeth McCann Silvernail. He was married in December 1963 to Velma Opal Jones, who survives at the home.

He was a member of the  Jefferson City Christian Center Church. He was a 20-year Navy veteran, serving in World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars. He later retired from work as a  Jefferson City Transit Authority bus driver. He was a volunteer at the Central Missouri Correctional Center (Church Farm) for the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Other survivors include: one brother, Don Silvernail, state of Alaska.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the  Jefferson City Christian Center Church, with Pastor Doug Crader officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Eugene.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Russellville.

Memorials are suggested to the Fay L. Silvernail Memorial Fund.
