SNITZ
Services were Tuesday for Lena Snitz, 89, Jefferson City, who died April 14, 2002, at Oak Tree Villa Nursing Center.
She was born Oct. 9, 1912, in Wichita, Kan., a daughter of Sam and Esther Sapinko Shustorman. She was married March 6, 1937, in Wichita, to Joseph I. Snitz, who died March 7, 1987.
She graduated from East High School in Wichita. She and her husband owned and operated Sam Shustorman's Shoe Store in Wichita for many years.
She was a resident of Jefferson City for the past four years.
She was a member of the Hebrew Congregation in Wichita and a was a 50-year member of the Synagogue Sisterhood. She was a member of Bnai Brith and Hadossah.
Survivors include: two daughters, Sharon Smith, Springfield, and Barbara Herman, Jefferson City; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were in the Hebrew Cemetery, Wichita, Kan.
Memorials are suggested to Temple Beth El, Jefferson City.
Arrangements were under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
STEINMETZ
Wayne Carl Steinmetz, 66, Tebbetts, died April 17, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born June 16, 1936, in Holts Summit, a son of Harry O. and Susie Olive Branch Steinmetz.
He worked in construction for most of his life. He was an Army veteran.
Survivors include: seven sons, John Steinmetz, state of Oklahoma, and Travis Steinmetz, Eric Steinmetz, Greg Steinmetz, Keith Steinmetz, Kevin Steinmetz, and James Steinmetz, all of Jefferson City; one daughter, Debbie Steinmetz, Linn; three brothers, Larry Steinmetz, Holts Summit, and Stanley Steinmetz, and Roger Steinmetz, both of Jefferson City; two sisters, Minnie Smith, Williamsburg, and Wanda Craighead, Mexico; four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Bull Cemetery. The Rev. Ray Freet will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Debo Funeral Home, Holts Summit.
STULL
Harry Wayne Stull, 81, Guthrie, died April 15, 2002, at his home.
He was born Dec. 17, 1921, in Clarksville, Texas , a son of Harry G. and Bertha Ann Crafton Stull. He was married in 1954 in the state of California to Virginia Hill, who died Feb. 13, 1998.
He was a meat cutter and a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: two sons, Gordon Stull, Guthrie, and Allen Stull, state of California; one daughter, Lanna Stull, state of Ohio; and three sisters, Mildred Lorraine Stull, Wynema Jean Stull, and Juanita Dean Stull, all of the state of California.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Debo Funeral Home, Holts Summit, for Harry Wayne Stull, 81, Guthrie, who died April 15, 2002.
WARD
Paul D. Ward, 85, Kirkwood, died April 16, 2002, at St. Joseph Hospital, Kirkwood.
He was born Jan. 9, 1917, in Holts Summit, a son of Henry and Viola Eno Ward. He was married to Irene Ward, who survives at the home.
Other survivors include: one son, T. Jack Ward, St. Louis; one daughter, Judy Ward, St. Louis; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Summit Memorial Park Cemetery, Holts Summit.
Arrangements are under the direction of Debo Funeral Home, Holts Summit.
WOOD
Clyde L. Wood, 63, California, died April 17, 2002, at Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital, Columbia.
He was born Oct. 17, 1938, in California, a son of Gilbert and Lillie Coots Wood. He was married July 6, 1957, in California, to Mary K. Hodler, who survives at the home.
He attended California High School and worked for California Manufacturing as a bundle carrier. He was a body man for Chuck Marr Auto Body, Todd-Hogge, now California Ford, and Lehman Body Shop. He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church, California. An Army veteran, he was a flagman at race tracks in California; Marshall; Holts Summit; Moberly; Fulton; Missouri State Fair Speedway, Sedalia; Granite City, Ill.; and Quincy, Ill., for 35 years.
Survivors include: two sons, Charley E. Wood, and Roy L. Wood, both of California; two brothers, Norman Wood and Charlie Wood, both of California; four sisters, Pauline Medlin, California, Mary Shelton, Clarksburg, Stella Henning, Lebanon, and Lois Jenkins, Slater; and one granddaughter.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Annunciation Catholic Church. The Rev. Don Breaker will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

AVERY
Frances "Dutch" Avery, 91, Camdenton, died April 18, 2002, at Ozark Care Center, Osage Beach.
She was born Feb. 13, 1911, in Harrisburg, a daughter of Emm and Lula Porter. She was married Jan. 5, 1928, to Aubrey Avery, who died March 20, 1987.
She was a shoe factory worker and a member of Mt. Pleasant Christian Church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Bonnie Selby, Camdenton; one brother, Elwood Porter, Mexico; one sister, Louetta Franklin, Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Two daughters, Vanetta Faye Avery and Jeanette Louise Avery, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Million-Taylor-Patton Funeral Home, Higbee. The Rev. Tracy Carroll will officiate. Burial will be in Myers Chapel Cemetery, Higbee.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday.
Local arrangements are under the direction of Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton.
HOPKINS
Edna Earl Hopkins, 88, Camdenton, died April 17, 2002, at Lake Ozark Retirement Center.
She was born Dec. 3, 1913, in Linn Creek, a daughter of George M. and Elizabeth Lee Jones Keller. She was married Jan. 1, 1935, in Camdenton, to Ezra Raymond Hopkins, who died Jan. 11, 1999.
She was a homemaker and a member of Community Christian Church, Camdenton. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star 332, Camdenton.
Survivors include three nieces and one nephew.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton. The Rev. Tracy Carroll will officiate. Burial will be in Old Linn Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1-2:30 p.m. Sunday, with Eastern Star services at 2 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Community Christian Church.
LITWORA
Alexander Walter Litwora, 55, Jefferson City, died April 18, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born March 3, 1947, in Germany, a son of Aleksander and Janina Prystasz Litwora. He was married July 12, 1969, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, to Lorraine Aupin, who survives at the home.
He graduated from high school in Buffalo, N.Y. and attended McGill University in Montreal, where he studied computer science.
He worked as an information systems manager for ABB for 32 years in Montreal, Quebec; Guelph, Ontario; Muncie, Ind., and Jefferson City. He was a Canadian Armed Forces veteran.
Survivors include: two sons, Daniel Litwora, and Lorne Litwora, both of Chicago, Ill.; one daughter, Katrina Litwora, Louisville, Ky.; one sister, Anne Marie Aiello, Montreal, Quebec; and two grandchildren.
Services will be held at a later date in Montreal, Quebec.

MERTENS
Services were today for Charles Francis Mertens, 60, Rock Port, died April 13, 2002, at Bryan Memorial Hospital, Lincoln, Neb.
He was born March 15, 1942, in Jefferson City, a son of George J. Sr. and Agnes M. Hentges Mertens. He was married Aug. 7, 1965, to Jane Schroer.
He attended school in Wardsville and was a Navy veteran. He worked for Loethen Oil Company as a gas transport driver for 20 years. He had managed the Rock Port Hen House and was manager of the Rock Port Truck Plaza.
Survivors include: two sons, Scott Mertens, Rock Port, and Jeff Mertens, Jefferson City; four brothers, Fred Mertens, John Mertens and Kenneth Mertens, all of Wardsville, and George J. Mertens Jr., St. Martins; four sisters, Shirley Hoelscher, Osage Bend, Helen Welch, St. Martins, Sr. Margaret Mertens, San Benito, Texas , and Anna Bisges, Wardsville; and one grandson.
Services were at Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port. Private family inurnment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Wardsville.
