STONE

Services were today for Jimmy Ray Stone, 63, Osage Beach, who died June 13, 1999, at his home.

He was born Jan. 21, 1936, a son of John E. and Iva Vee Richards Stone.

A Lake area resident for much of his life, he worked as a tool and die maker. He was a member of the local sheriff's association.

Survivors include: one son, James Ray Stone, Hallsville; one daughter, Nichole E. Stone, Camdenton; and one brother, John E. Stone, Greenview.

Services were at Allee-Reed Funeral Home, Camdenton. The Rev. Rick Ginnings officiated. Burial was in Allee Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Camdenton.

MAY

Marvin L. May, 64, Sunrise Beach, died June 15, 1999, at his home.

Arrangements are incomplete at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie.

PINNELL

John Edward Pinnell, 74, Camdenton, died June 14, 1999, at Lake of the Ozarks General Hospital, Osage Beach.

He was born Oct. 5, 1924, in Swedeborg, a son of William and Laura Hodge Pinnell. He was married April 17, 1948, in St. Louis, to Florence Liss, who died Aug. 30, 1997.

A veteran of World War II, he received four Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion. He moved to the Lake from St. Louis in 1983 following retirement from Anheuser-Busch after more than 40 years as a brewer.

Survivors include: one son, Michael Pinnell, Overland; two daughters, Sandra Weller and Linda Thoman, both of Osage Beach; one brother, Archie Pinnell, Hollister; two sisters, Gladys Brinley, Dittmer, and Alice Turner, Hillsboro; seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 11:15 a.m. Friday at  Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Allee-Reed Funeral Home, Camdenton, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

SAPP

Arlee L. "Jake" Sapp, 67, Ashland, died June 15, 1999, at Ashland Healthcare.

He was born Oct. 21, 1931, in Boone County, a son of Gilbert and Dorothy Blythe Sapp.

He worked with farmers in the Ashland area during hay season.

He is survived by three sisters: Frances Quinn, Ashland, and Hallie Griffin and Bessie Jo Acton, both of Columbia.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Robinson Funeral Home, Ashland. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery, Ashland.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 33 E. Broadway, Suite 100, Columbia, Mo. 65203.

STEEN

John Floyd Steen, 87, Evansville, Ind., formerly of Iberia, died June 16, 1999, at Deaconess Hospital, Evansville.

He was born Sept. 6, 1911, in Iberia, a son of Frank and Ella Wall Steen.

He worked in St. Louis and was retired from Cupples Products Co. He had been a resident of Evansville for the past five years.

Survivors include: one daughter, Alice Sexton, Evansville; one brother, Paul Steen, Iberia; two sisters, Virgie Smith, Portland, Ore., and Icie Evacko, Iberia; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The Rev. Stan Way will officiate. Burial will be in Williams Cemetery, near Iberia.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

YARYAN

Christina Yaryan, 74, Gravois Mills, died June 15, 1999, at Riverdell Care Center, Boonville.

Arrangements are incomplete at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.

WOHLT

Milton G. Wohlt, 79, Hermann, died June 16, 1999, at Boone Hospital, Columbia.

He was born Oct. 4, 1919, in Hermann, a son of Milton A. and Helen J. Kraettly Wohlt. He was married Feb. 18, 1943, in El Paso, Texas , to Glenda L. Sandmeyer, who survives.

He was employed by Rite Point and then by Metal Works. He was administrator of Hermann Area District Hospital for 14 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Hermann United Methodist Church.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Lucile Lockwood,  Jefferson City; one son, Carl Wohlt, Oak Park, Ill.; one sister, Virginia Baumgaertner, St. Louis; and two grandchildren.

One son, Lawrence Wohlt, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hermann United Methodist Church. The Rev. Russell Branch will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Haven Memorial Gardens, Hermann.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann.

Memorials are suggested to Hermann Area District Hospital, or to Hermann United Methodist Church.

WILSON

Robert Lynn Wilson, 80, Sunrise Beach, died June 16, 1999, at his home.

Arrangements are incomplete at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie.

NEWBY

Albert Wilson Newby, 87, Eldon, died June 16, 1999, at Lake Ozark Retirement Center.

He was born Nov. 22, 1911, in Kansas City, a son of Albert W. and Willa Lindsey Newby. He was married Sept. 16, 1938, in Kansas City, to Mary Kathryn Zahn, who died Dec. 18, 1972. He was married May 22, 1977, in Eldon, to Betty B. Hughes Campbell, who survives at the home.

He was employed with Mercantile Bank of Eldon as an internal auditor until his retirement. He had worked for the Dye Candy Company of St. Louis and Eldon. He was a member, treasurer and deacon at First Baptist Church, Eldon. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Order of Masons in Eldon, and was past member of Eldon Lions Club and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Carol McLeane, Springfield, and Linda Oroscin, Oceanside, Calif.; two stepsons, Robert K. Campbell, Linn, and Douglas L. Campbell, Eldon; one sister, Virginia Dean, Raytown; and one grandson.

One son, Frank Newby, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Randall Bunch and the Rev. Jasper Hunter will officiate. Burial will be in Eldon City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church, Eldon.

McDANIEL

Jean Lee McDaniel, 71, Bremerton, Wash., formerly of  Jefferson City, died June 14, 1999, in Bremerton.

He was born June 23, 1927, in  Jefferson City, a son of Charles W. and Zula Elizabeth McDaniel. He was married Oct. 12, 1973, in Portland, Ore., to Margaret Louise Abadia, who survives at the home.

A graduate of  Jefferson City High School, he attended junior college in  Jefferson City. He was employed by Lincoln-Mercury in Kansas City and worked in automobile and mobile home sales in Oregon and Washington until his retirement in 1990.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Kitsap Country Club and a charter member of Central Kitsap County Kiwanis, Bremerton.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Christi Lynn Baldwin, West Linn, Ore., Kelly Jo Feasler, Portland, Ore., and Lauri Lee Stroud, Oakland, Calif.; one son, Steven Michael McDaniel, Tualatin, Ore.; one brother, Charles McDaniel,  Jefferson City; one sister, Charlotte Karr,  Jefferson City; five grandchildren; four step grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Miller-Woodlawn Mortuary, Bremerton. Gary Carey will officiate.

MAY

Marvin Lee May, 64, Laurie, died June 15, 1999, at his home.

He was born Sept. 19, 1934, in Milan, a son of C.H. "Red" and Mary Pauline Brassfield May. He was married June 6, 1957, in Green City, to Geraldine Clark, who survives at the home.

An Army veteran, he worked at the May Auction Company, Milan. He moved to Tennessee in the 1960s to become state manager for Bankers Life and Casualty Company. He owned and operated G & M Electronics in LaGrange from 1970 until his retirement in 1978. He then moved to Monroe County, Florida, and became a deputy sheriff and was active in the Coast Guard auxiliary. In the 1980s, he moved to the Stover area. He was a private pilot.

Other survivors include: one son, Wade May, Black Mountain, N.C.; two daughters, Sherry Russo and Machelle May, both of Key West, Fla.; and three granddaughters.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Wilhite Cemetery near Milan. The Rev. Eugene Runnels will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie, and from 10-11:30 a.m. Friday at Glenn Kent & Son Funeral Home, Milan.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Foundation or the American Cancer Society.

KORTE

Walter L. Korte, 63, California, died June 16, 1999, at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, Columbia.

He was born Sept. 23, 1935, in Overton, a son of Gilbert A. and Helena Charlotte Sieckman Korte. He was married July 17, 1959, in Blackwater, to Lorene Grapes, who survives at the home.

He attended school in Arrow Rock and was an Army veteran. He was employed by Hall & Riley Quarries, Boonville, during the 1950s, and was plant manager for Quinn Concrete, Marshall, until 1964. He then became co-owner of Korte Ready Mix, now known as Moniteau County Ready Mix, California, until 1982.

He owned and operated Korte Kleen and the Lime and Rock Quarries, near California, until 1984. He established Korte Excavation which he operated until his retirement in 1999.

He was a member of Main Street Baptist Church, California.

Other survivors include: one son, Bruce Korte, California; three daughters, Becky Francis, Tracy Kramel and Tammy Korte, all of California; five brothers, Fletcher "Bus" Korte, Boonville, Fritz "Boss" Korte, Pilot Grove, Ben Korte, California, Julius "June" Korte, Ozark, and Roger "Rog" Korte, Pilot Grove; three sisters, Vineda "Sis" Self, Viola "Vi" Heislen and Frances "Frannie" Adams, all of Marshall; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Main Street Baptist Church. The Rev. Ken Mathes and the Rev. Greg Morrow will officiate. Burial will be in California City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Ellis Fischel Guest House, 115 Business Loop 70-West, Columbia, Mo. 65201; or to Main Street Baptist Church Building Fund, 303 West Main, California, Mo.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California.
