BAUER
Ralph Adolph Bauer, 67, Henley, died April 22, 2002.
He was born Jan. 21, 1935, in Brinktown, a son of Herman P. and Celestine A. Winkelman Bauer. He was married May 21, 1966, in Brinktown, to Adeline A. Redel, who survives at the home.
He was a 1954 graduate of Vienna High School. He worked as a truck driver for Barnhart Trucking in Jefferson City and as a cartographer for the Missouri Department of Transportation. He was also a farmer. He was an Army veteran. He was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Marys Home. He was a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus 2047 in Marys Home and became a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus 1567 of Saint Jude Assembly in 1974.
Survivors include: three daughters, Carlene M. Morff, Centertown, Laura L. Hoskins, Henley, and LuAnn Kemna, Eugene; five brothers, Joseph Bauer and Anthony Bauer, both of Jefferson City, John Bauer, St. Louis, Norbert Bauer, Kansas City, and Martin Bauer, Brinktown; six sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" Wester, and Mary Gansman, both of St. Louis, Theresa Koerber, Pinesdale, Mont., Agnes LaBruyere, Brinktown, Odilia Kristof, Phoenix, Ariz., and Gertrude "Trudy" Mehlick, Chesterfield; three grandchildren and two step grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Marys Home. The Rev. Clarence Wiederholt will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m., with a rosary at 3 p.m. and 6:45 p.m., Wednesday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Masses, the Marys Home Knights of Columbus or Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church.
Arrangements are by Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon.
BURKETT
Jeane M. Burkett, 71, Springfield, formerly Linn Creek, died April 17, 2002, in Springfield.
She was born Oct. 16, 1930, in Moselle, a daughter of William R. and Mary Helen McCance Moore. She was married Sept. 30, 1973, to George Burkett, who died Sept. 11, 1999.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include: one daughter, Mary Duncan, Springfield; and one brother, William Moore, St. Peters.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Laughlin Cemetery. The Rev. Tracy Carroll will officiate.
Arrangements are by Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Camdenton.
CHATTIN
Joseph Thompson "Tom" Chattin Jr., 63, Chattanooga, Tenn., died April 21, 2002, in Chattanooga.
He was born Dec. 2, 1938, in Jefferson City, a son of Joseph Thompson Sr. and Betty Ann Lindley Chattin. His mother survives in Jefferson City. He was married to Melinda Franklin Chattin, who survives in Chattanooga.
He was raised in West Chester, Pa. He graduated from Villanova University. He retired from DuPont Flooring Systems Division in 1989 as national marketing manager. He was owner of Corporate Images International in Dalton, Ga. A Marine Corps veteran, he was a member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
Survivors include: two sons, Mark Chattin, Seattle, and Christopher Chattin, Chattanooga; two daughters, Karen Davis, Signal Mountain, Tenn., and Sheri Voight, Houston, Texas ; two brothers, John Craig Chattin, Warrenton, S.C., and Jeff Chattin, Columbia; three sisters, Lynn Knox, Lee's Summit, Betsy Maher, Jefferson City, and Sheri Coffey, San Antonio, Texas ; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m.Thursday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Chattanooga. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Our Lady of Perpetual Help needy student fund.
Arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home, Chattanooga.
CONLEY
Opal E. Conley, 78, Lake Ozark, died April 21, 2002, at Lake Ozark.
She was born Nov. 10, 1923, in Illinois, a daughter of James O. and Effie Eddleman Hayes. She was married May 4, 1946, in St. Clair County, to Leroy Conley, who survives at the home.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include: two sons, Dennis L. Conley, Lake Ozark, and Kevin D. Conley, Eldon; one sister, Ruth Alice Duenne, Charleston; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
One son, David L. Conley, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Lake Ozark Christian Church in Lake Ozark. The Rev. Jim Pohl will officiate. Her body was donated to science.
Memorials are suggested to Lake Ozark Christian Church or the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are by Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon.
FAIN
George A. Fain, 74, Jefferson City, died April 20, 2002, at Capital Health Care Center.
He was born Feb. 11, 1928, in Miami, Okla., a son of Lawrence J. and Alma E. Brewster Fain. He was married April 25, 1983, in Las Vegas, to Millie Roberds, who died July 15, 1995.
He attended Westport High School in Kansas City. He was a resident of the Jefferson City area for the past 25 years. He worked as a corrections officer at the Jefferson City Correctional Center until his retirement in 1997. He was a Navy veteran.
Survivors include one sister, Betty L. Hurst, Independence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. Harold Powell will officiate. Graveside services with military honors will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
FRANKLIN
Lawrence Franklin, 75, Crocker, died April 20, 2002, at General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital.
He was born Nov. 30, 1926, in Lee's Summit, a son of Spencer and Lucy Franklin. He was married Dec. 20, 1952, in Kansas, to Beverly Jean Carroll, who died May 3, 1994.
He was a truck driver for Spinney Ridge Dairy Farms in Libertyville for 15 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW Crocker Memorial Post 4956 and the Elks Lodge 2557 in Lebanon. He was a member of the Teamsters Union in Illinois.
Survivors include: two sons, Lawrence Franklin, Crocker, and Charles Franklin, Round Lake, Ill.; one daughter, Melinda Conrad, Wheatland, Wis.; four brothers, James Franklin, Lawrett Franklin, Carl Franklin and Harry Franklin; two sisters, Velma Dawson and Carolyn Troyan; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 2 p.m. today at Long Funeral Home in Crocker. The Rev. Billy Claiborn officiated. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery in Crocker.
GARCIA
Edith Annie Garcia, 90, Fulton, died April 21, 2002, at her home.
She was born Nov. 14, 1911, in Hillsboro, Ill., a daughter of Edward and Bertha White Allman. She was married in 1947, in Union City, Tenn., to Manuel "Jim" Garcia, who survives at the home.
A homemaker, she lived in the Fulton area for the past 10 years.
Survivors include: two daughters, June Simonin, Fulton, and Jean Romano, St. Louis; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
One son preceded her in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton. The Rev. Mike Crowson will officiate. Burial will be in Old Auxvasse Cemetery in Auxvasse.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday.
MOORE
Myrtle Moore, 85, Jefferson City, died April 21, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 25, 1917, in Green Ridge, a daughter of Roy and Phyllis Phaff McCampbell. She was married March 18, 1938, to John Victor Moore, who died Oct. 20, 1975.
She graduated from high school in Green Ridge and attended business college in Sedalia. She worked as a secretary at North Elementary School in Holts Summit and also at the Missouri Baptist Press for a number of years. She was secretary to the director of deaf ministries at the Missouri Baptist Headquarters. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school at the Cole County Jail for the First Baptist Church Outreach program. She was a member of the Holts Summit Civic Association, Order of the Eastern Star and was a volunteer with Meals-On-Wheels in Jefferson City.
Survivors include: one son, Thomas Howard Moore, Idaho Falls, Idaho; two daughters, Carol Engelmann, St. Louis, and Maralee Sisson, McLean, Va.; two sisters, Anna Skinner, Omaha, Neb., and Densie Romig, Newton, Kan.; and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, Jefferson City. The Rev. Dennis Maxwell will officiate. Private burial will be in Hart Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Friday.
Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
TURNER
Gerold H. Turner, 88, Jefferson City, died April 22, 2002.
He was born Aug. 14, 1913, in Alton, Ill., a son of William E. and Alma Baker Turner. He was married July 3, 1941, in Wood River, Ill., to Ethel Nolte, who survives at the home.
He worked as an agent for Millers Mutual Insurance Company for 45 years until his retirement. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served on several committees. He was a member of the Men's Club and a volunteer for the American Red Cross and other civic organizations.
Survivors include: two daughters, Sandra Turner Rangel, Alexandria, Va., and Virginia Marianne Turner Eshelman, Jefferson City; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. John Hobratschk will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, Jefferson City.
