LOEFFEL
Services were today for Patrick M. Loeffel, 58, Camdenton, who died May 2, 2002, near Climax Springs.
He was born Sept. 19, 1943, in St. Louis, a son of William and Virginia M. Mana Haynes. His mother survives in Chesterfield. He was married to Judy E. Fite, who survives at the home.
He had lived in the St. Louis area.
He graduated from Eureka High School in 1962. He worked for Southwestern Bell until 1984. He worked for AT&T until 1994 when he started Missouri Bell Telecom, which is servicing the Lake of the Ozarks area today.
He lived near Camdenton since 1974.
Survivors include: one son, Michael Loeffel, Camdenton; one daughter, Kimberly Kliethermes, Lee's Summit; one sister, Judith Loeffel, Chesterfield; and three grandchildren.
Services were at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton. The Rev. Randy Fite officiated.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
BENNETT
Gene Ilo Bennett, 73, Vienna, died May 6, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born Dec. 23, 1928, in Farnhamville, Iowa, a son of Floyd H. and Grace Ila Foster Bennett. He was married May 28, 1955, in Custer, S.D., to Anna Lynne Ziegler, who survives at the home.
A graduate of Farnhamville High School, he attended business college in Des Moines, Iowa. He worked for Delta Airlines for 22 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the American Legion and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 4340, both in Vienna.
Other survivors include: four sons, Gregory Donald Bennett, Anaheim, Calif., Gene Douglas Bennett, Everett, Wash., Scott Edward Bennett, Vienna, and Christopher Lynn Bennett, Chesapeake, Va.; two daughters, Dawn Patricia Davis, Litchfield, Ariz., and Lo Ann Kay White , Phoenix; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
COLE
Mary Frances Ely Cole, 90, formerly of Jefferson City, died May 6, 2002, at Oakridge of Plattsburg Nursing Home, Plattsburg.
She was born Dec. 10, 1911, in Perry, a daughter of Benjamin S. and Ida M. Henegar Ely. She was married Dec. 22, 1929, in Center, to Edward Lewis Cole, who died in 1996.
She graduated from Perry High School and from Chillicothe Business College with a degree in secretarial science. She co-owned and co-operated the Tastee Inn Restaurant in Perry. She moved to Jefferson City in 1935 and worked until 1941 as a secretary in the Capitol. She worked from 1949 until her retirement in 1975 for the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, where she became the head of the GED program. She was a Cub Scout and Brownie leader. She was a member of the First Christian Church for 67 years and was active in the Troop 3 Boy Scout program at the church. She was a member of the Lois and Esther Circles at the church, the Missouri State Teachers Association and was a member of the Lioness Club.
Survivors include: two sons, Col. Carey E. Cole, Kennesaw, Ga., and Dr. Ronald L. Cole, Kingsville, Texas ; one daughter, Marcia S. Spacek, Kansas City; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. Lawrence Veatch will officiate. Entombment will be in the mausoleum of Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Thursday.
Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church.
HEIDBRINK
Fred C. Heidbrink, 89, Linn, died May 6, 2002, at Green Meadows Skilled Care, Linn.
He was born Dec. 31, 1912, in Freedom, a son of Louis and Anna Louise Linhardt Heidbrink. He was married Dec. 15, 1932, in St. Clair, to Anna Hollandsworth Heidbrink, who survives at the home.
He was a self-employed carpenter and a farmer. He was a member of Pin Oak Baptist Church and the Linn Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include one son, James L. Heidbrink, Linn, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
One son, Fred E. Heidbrink Jr., preceded him in death.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Morton Funeral Home in Linn. The Rev. Glen Duncan will officiate. Burial will be in Giedenhagen Cemetery near Mt. Sterling.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials are suggested to Pin Oak Baptist Church.
ROBERTS
George Edward Roberts Sr., 55, Gravois Mills, died May 6, 2002, at his home.
He was born March 4, 1947, in Fort Smith, Ark., a son of Warren F. Sr. and Nila R. Kindrick Roberts. His mother Nila R. Attaway, survives in Gravois Mills. He was married June 7, 1967, to Donna J. Watson, who survives at the home.
A Vietnam veteran, he received the Purple Heart. He was a certified welder and formerly owned George's Welding in Hesperia, Calif. He was a member of Norwalk Masonic Lodge 315, the Scottish Rite in Long Beach, Calif., El Bekal Shrine Temple and a life member of El Bekal Oriental Band in Anaheim, Calif.
Other survivors include: two sons, George E. Roberts Jr., Gravois Mills, and Gerald Roberts, Greenview; four brothers, Warren Roberts Jr., Norwalk, Calif., Gary Roberts, Camdenton, Jim Roberts, Bakersfield, Calif., and Earl Roberts, Concord, Calif.; one sister, Mary Pollard, Harmony, Ind.; and six grandchildren.
Graveside Masonic services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Rye Hill Cemetery near Fort Smith, Ark.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.
RAITHEL
Mary Eleanor Raithel, 78, Russellville, died May 6, 2002, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was born Nov. 26, 1923, in Jefferson City, a daughter of Nicholas and Caroline Distler Hentges. She was married Nov. 26, 1948, in Independence, to Roy C. Raithel, who died Feb. 25, 2001.
She attended St. Peter Catholic School.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and was a Cole County 4-H leader.
Survivors include: two sons, Steven R. Raithel, Osage Bend, and Roy Raithel Jr., Jefferson City; two daughters, Patricia Meloy, Latham, and Maxine Porting, Russellville; one brother, Leroy Hentges, Jefferson City; three sisters, Nadine Shahan, Lohman, Martha Kaiser, Jefferson City, and Frances Meller, Holts Summit; and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter Catholic Church Chapel. The Rev. Donald Lammers will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to Vogelweid Learning Center.
LINDENBUSCH
Anthony "Tony" Lindenbusch, 69, St. Anthony, died May 6, 2002, at St. Elizabeth Care Center.
He was born Nov. 24, 1932, in St. Anthony, a son of Theodore and Mathilda Schulte Lindenbusch.
He worked for 20 years at Kraml Wood Products, Iberia. He also worked for Iberia Lumber Company and for the Miller County Road District. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in St. Anthony and a life member of the Iberia VFW Post 6167. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include: one sister, Nora Wilde, St. Elizabeth
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. The Rev. Brian Driscoll will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday in St. Anthony Parish Hall, with a rosary at 6 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Iberia VFW Post 6167.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia.
McWAID
Yoneko Otsuka McWaid, 77, New Bloomfield, died May 7, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born April 10, 1925, in Tokyo, Japan, a daughter of Minoru and Sui Sakai Otsuka. She was married May 9, 1955, in Tokyo, to Leland W. McWaid, who died May 23, 1977.
She was a resident of the Central Missouri area for the past 45 years. She worked as a machine operator with Chesebrough Ponds for 16 years, retiring in 1985.
Survivors include one brother, Kiyoshi Otsuka, Tokyo, and two sisters, Katsuko Otsuka and Umeko Otsuka, both of Tokyo.
Private graveside services will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
SUTHOFF
Patricia Ann Suthoff, 59, Jefferson City, died May 7, 2002, at her home.
She was born May 19, 1942, in Owensville, a daughter of Paul C. and Anna Mae Imhoff Bentlage. Her mother survives in Jefferson City. She was married June 2, 1962, in Jefferson City, to Donald Suthoff, who survives at the home.
She graduated from Helias High School in 1960 and attended Lincoln University. She worked for the Missouri Department of Conservation from 1960 to 1962, She worked for West Side Insurance Agency since 1970. She was a member of Jefferson City Host Lions Club since 1993 and was elected the club's first female president.
She received the Melvin Jones Award for Distinguished Leadership and the Lions Club International Presidential Award for Distinguished Leadership, the third highest of all international awards. She was the founder and advisor to the Jefferson City Leo Club.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Immaculata Club.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Lori Gordon and Kim Kline, both of Jefferson City, and Karen Cornell, Columbia: one brother, Vic Bentlage, Jefferson City; four sisters, Susie Weiss, Mansfield, Texas , Janice Bonnot, and Kathy Bentlage, both of Jefferson City, and Cindy Felten, Prairie Home; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Greg Higley will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, with a prayer service at 8 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Lion's Eye Research Foundation.
