FRAPPIER

Dorothy A. Frappier, 86, Berkeley, Calif., died June 3, 1999, in Berkeley.

She was born Oct. 21, 1912, in Milwaukee, Wis., a daughter of Henry and Rose Ihrig. She was married July 21, 1930, to Francis Frappier, who died in 1994.

A former resident of Bryan, Ohio, she was a member of the Bryan Public Library board of trustees for 29 years and was county librarian for 11 years. She was a former ladies golfing champion at Orchard Hills Country Club.

Survivors include: four sons, Jo Frappier,  Jefferson City, Tom Frappier, Hudson, Ohio, Jon Frappier, Pacifica, Calif, and Mark Frappier, Berkeley; one daughter, Patti Shaw, Palestine, Ill; one sister, Ellenor Buetter, Penney Farms, Fla.; and 14 grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. July 1 at First Church of Christ, Bryan.

Memorials are suggested to the Williams County Library, Bryan, Ohio; or the Alzheimer's Association, 919 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 1000, Chicago, Ill. 60611.

EVANS

Shirley Jo Britton Evans, 53, Fulton, died June 17, 1999, at Missouri Baptist Hospital, St. Louis.

She was born Aug. 21, 1945, in Newborn, N.C., a daughter of Dan and Clara Britton. Her father survives in Biloxi, Miss. She was married Dec. 10, 1963, in Aurora, Ohio, to Robert Evans, who survives at the home.

She was station manager at KFAL/KKCA Radio Station, Fulton, and was active in Callaway County civic organizations.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Dana Keller, Mexico, and Shelly Huff, Fulton; one brother, Danny Britton, Cullman, Ala.; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 6 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fulton. The Rev. David Mueller and the Rev. James Rhiver will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to the American Red Cross or St. John Lutheran Church, 1000 Dorcas St., Mexico, Mo. 65265.

Arrangements are under the direction of Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton.

DONNELLY

The Honorable Robert T. Donnelly, 74,  Jefferson City, died June 16, 1999, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 31, 1924, in Lebanon, a son of Thomas J. and Sybil True Donnelly. He was married Nov. 16, 1946, in Little Rock, Ark., to Wanda Sue "Susie" Oates, who survives at the home.

A graduate of Lebanon High School, he attended the University of Tulsa and Ohio State University. He graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia, receiving his law degree from the university in 1949. An Army veteran of World War II, he received the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.

He practiced law in Lebanon with Phil M. Donnelly and David Donnelly from 1952 to 1965. He was an assistant attorney general of Missouri from 1957 to 1963.

He was appointed to the Missouri Supreme Court by Governor Warren E. Hearnes in 1965, and served as chief justice from 1973 to 1975, and from 1981 to 1983. He was the first chief justice to address the General Assembly of Missouri on the State of the Judiciary in January 1974.

He was a member and elder at First Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Lebanon Masonic Lodge, A.F. & A.M., and a 50-year member of the Missouri Bar. He served on the Lebanon Board of Education from 1959 to 1965; on the board of the School of Religion, Drury College, Springfield, from 1958 to 1963; and on the board of the Missouri School of Religion, Columbia, from 1971 to 1972.

He was deputy chairman of the National Conference of Chief Justices in 1975. In 1998 he published "A Whistle in the Night," his autobiography and memoir.

Other survivors include: two sons, Thomas Page Donnelly, Centreville, Va., and Brian True Donnelly,  Jefferson City; one sister, Helen Donnelly Smith, Flower Mound, Texas ; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. R.W. Beard will officiate. Private graveside services will be held in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Friday at Freeman Mortuary, and from 10-11 a.m. Saturday in the church parlor.

Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church or the University of Missouri Law School Foundation.

BURNER

Bessie Christene Burner, 87, Braymer, died June 15, 1999, at Windsor Estates, Camdenton.

She was born Dec. 25, 1911, in Caldwell County, a daughter of James and Effie Simkins. She was married to Ivan V. Burner, who preceded her in death.

She owned and operated the Mary Carter Paint Store in Camdenton before retiring. She was a member of Braymer Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one daughter, Dianne Sue Martin, Camdenton; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Braymer Baptist Church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Braymer.

Visitation is today at Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, and from 1-2 p.m. Friday at the church.

ARBES

Paul M. Arbes, 38, Linn, died June 15, 1999, in Linn.

He was born Dec. 25, 1960, in  Jefferson City, a son of Martin A. and Gail White Arbes, who survive at the home.

He was a 1979 graduate of Linn High School, and a graduate of Kansas City Auctioneering School. He owned and operated Paul Arbes Auctioneering and Hauling Service, Linn. He also worked for Pony Express Couriers, Columbia, and AAA Mailing. He was a member of St. George Church, Linn.

Other survivors include: one brother, Darin W. Arbes, Bonnots Mill; one sister, Marla M. Nilges,  Jefferson City; and maternal grandmother Delpha White , Linn.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. George Church. The Rev. Paul Hartley will officiate. Burial will be in St. George Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Morton Funeral Home, Linn, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

ARNOLD

Donald George Fultz Arnold, 71, Fulton, died June 15, 1999, at Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital, Columbia.

He was born April 27, 1928, in Cumberland, Md., a son of William and Delia Bell Fultz Arnold. He was married April 27, 1984, in Reno, Nev., to Jeanne Thompson, who survives at the home.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley and taught specialized adult education in Salinas, Calif. He later worked for the University of Nevada at Reno, moving to Fulton in 1985.

He was on the board of directors of the Center for Independent Living in Columbia.

He was a member of the DAV, Korean War Veterans, American Legion and Loyal Order of Moose in Moberly. Gov. Mel Carnahan appointed him to the Governor's Council of Disabilities in 1996.

He was co-chairman of the Connect Missouri program to promote optic and telecommunications, and he helped establish the program at the Missouri School for the Deaf.

Other survivors include: three stepsons, David Hanks, Columbia, Richard Ware, Fulton, and Kevin Ware, Foley, Ala.; two stepdaughters, Elizabeth Bennett, Reno, and Marjorie Kuder, New Bloomfield; and 14 step grandchildren.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Churchill Memorial on the Westminster College Campus. The Rev. Raymond McAllister will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to the Donald Arnold Memorial Fund, c/o Callaway Bank.

Arrangements are under the direction of Debo Funeral Home.

HAYNES

Ila M. Haynes, 77,  Jefferson City, died June 17, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born June 17, 1922, in Russellville, a daughter of John M. and Edith George Dawson. She was married April 4, 1941, to Robert Gerald Haynes, who died in 1976.

She was a member of Etterville Christian Church, Eldon.

She joined Capital City Christian Church when she moved to  Jefferson City.

Survivors include: four sons, Gene Haynes, Eldon, Jim Haynes, Springfield, and John Haynes and David Haynes, both of  Jefferson City; one daughter, Rebecca McDonald,  Jefferson City; one sister, Ethel Enloe, Kansas City, and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Etterville Christian Church. Burial will be in Enloe Cemetery, Russellville.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Marys Foundation or the National Diabetes Association.

KARR

Mabel Lucille Karr, 83, Salem, formerly of  Jefferson City, died June 16, 1999, in Salem.

She was born Oct. 29, 1915, in  Jefferson City, a daughter of Herman and Zilla Amos Hale. She was married to Raymond P. "Jack" Karr, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include: three daughters, Darla Brewer, Anacortes, Wash., Peggy Cubbage, Salem, and Rayma Lee Chinn,  Jefferson City; and two grandsons.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wilson Mortuary, Salem. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the Salem Nutrition Site.

LANTZ

Services were June 11 for Wilma Mary Lantz, 83, Iowa City, Iowa, who died June 7, 1999, at Colonial Manor Care Center, Amana, Iowa.

She was born March 13, 1916, in Whittemore, Iowa, a daughter of Edward M. and Sadie King Leeney. She was married June 16, 1938, in Iowa City, to Wilbur "Webb" Lantz, who died in 1984.

She was a graduate of St. Patrick's High School, Iowa City. She owned and operated Wilma's Beauty Shop and Towncrest Beauty Shop, both in Iowa City, and the Paris Academy of Beauty, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Iowa City, where she helped establish the Perpetual Adoration Chapel. She was a member of the church Altar and Rosary Society.

Survivors include: three daughters, Barbara Gray, Amarillo, Texas , Mary Jo Rocca,  Jefferson City, and Cathy Hogan, Iowa City; one son, Marty Lantz, Phoenix; one sister, Norma Gatens, San Antonio, Texas ; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

One grandson preceded her in death.

Services were at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. The Rev. Lawrence Smith officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Iowa City.

Memorials are suggested to the Wilma Lantz Memorial Fund.

Arrangements were under the direction of Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City.
