HERNDON
Opal Branson Herndon, 81, Chamois, died July 29, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 9, 1921, in Cooper Hill, a daughter of Hade and Viola Owens Branson. She was married Jan. 24, 1942, in Chamois, to Clifford E. Herndon, who died Sept. 3, 1997.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and attended rural Osage County schools. She was a homemaker. She worked at Linn Manufacturing and at Westinghouse, now ABB. She was a member of the Oklahoma Church of Christ in Chamois.
Survivors include: one daughter, Cheryl Linhardt, Linn; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Oklahoma Church of Christ. Pastor Mark Gregor will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Morton Funeral Home in Linn.
Memorials are suggested to Oklahoma Church of Christ Cemetery Fund.
SMITH
Myrtle L. Smith, 78, Versailles, died July 28, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 11, 1924, in Ray County, a daughter of Thomas E. and Ora Schumate Fitzwater. She was married July 31, 1937, in Kansas City, to Orville C. Smith, who died Oct. 17, 1965.
She retired from the Pillsbury corporation in Joplin. She lived in Kansas City for many years and was a member of Sheffield Assembly of God Church. She moved to Versailles in 1988.
Survivors include: five sons, William E. Smith and Ronnie Smith, both of Kansas City, Orvel "Jack" Smith, Clinton, Jerry D. Smith, Versailles, and Joe Smith, Overland Park, Kan.; four daughters, Sue Marriott, Stover, Barbara Smith, Kansas City, Janet Alpers, Versailles, and Carolyn Jordan, Bellevue, Neb.; one foster daughter, Renee Sidenstricker, Purcell; one brother, Leroy Fitzwater, Bashore, Kan.; two sisters, Mary Cox, Sunrise Beach, and Dora Parker, North Kansas City; 38 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.
One grandson and one great-grandson preceded her in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Washington Funeral Home, Kansas City. The Rev. Dinzel Webb will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Washington Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Versailles, and from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Washington Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or First Baptist Church in Stover.
RHODES
Ralph W. Rhodes, 79, New Bloomfield, died July 31, 2002, at Boone Hospital Center.

BODENHEIMER
Ted Bodenheimer, 74, Sunrise Beach, died July 28, 2002, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.
Arrangements are at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie.
KUNZLER
Albert "Junior" Kunzler, 68, Stover, died July 29, 2002, at his home.
He was born Jan. 17, 1934, in Laurie, a son of Lesley and Grace Monteer Kunzler. He was married Nov. 4, 1954, to Louanna Nicholson, who survives at the home.
He was a wallpaper remover and wood worker. He was a member and deacon at Mt. Nebo Church.
Survivors include: one son, Steven Ray Kunzler, Independence; five daughters, Sheryl Ann Ingersoll and Donna Marie Judd, both of Stover, Mary Pittman, Diane Gremley and Kimberly Alsup, all of Independence; seven brothers and five sisters; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. The Rev. Jay Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Stover Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.
SCHMIDT
Edward R. Schmidt, 59, Edwards, died July 30, 2002, at his home.
Arrangements are at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Camdenton.
HIBDON
John A. Hibdon, 78, Eugene, died July 29, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.
Arrangements are at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services.
TIEMANN
Frances L. Tiemann, 86, Jefferson City, died July 30, 2002, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.
Arrangements are at Buescher Memorial Home.
BROWN
Theodore Robert Brown, 72, Jefferson City, died July 28, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born July 1, 1930, in Erie, Pa., a son of Roy and Anna Buehl Brown. He was married July 25, 1964, in Erie, to Rose Marie Fickenworth, who survives at the home.
He served in the Navy from 1947 to 1950. He volunteered with the Erie County State Police and worked at Erie Plating Company for 18 years.
A resident of Jefferson City for 30 years, he worked as a maintenance technician for the Missouri Division of Design and Construction for 20 years until his retirement in 1992.
Other survivors include: six daughters, Karen Benne, Jefferson City, Mildred Moseley, Shreveport, La., Roxanne Wetmore, Springtown, Texas , and Carol Skarzenski, Cheryl Engel and Rosalie White , all of Erie; three sons, Russell Cole, Rick Cole and Ted Brown, all of Jefferson City; three sisters, Winifed Rocky and Adeline Shewan, both of Erie, and Lenora Snowden, Santa Maria, Calif.; 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. Michael Hearst will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials are suggested to the Friendship House at the Hospice of Jefferson City and Mid-Missouri.
BELSHA
Thelma Dean Belsha, 56, Richland, died July 28, 2002, at her home.
She was born Aug. 2, 1945, in Pulaski County. She was married July 23, 1993, in Eldon, to Robert J. Belsha, who survives.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include: two daughters, Kimberly Jennings, Overland, and Tammy Carpenter, Ottawa, Kan.; three brothers, Garry Long, Crocker, Terry Long and Jerry Long, both of Camdenton; three sisters, Wilma Hooker, Colorado Springs, Colo., Velma Roney, Warsaw, and Sunday Christine Shelton, Richland; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Long Funeral Home in Crocker.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday.
WALDEN
Nellie Ann Walden, 77, Fulton, died July 29, 2002, at Fulton Residential Care Center.
She was born June 2, 1925, in Mt. Pleasant, Pa., a daughter of Stanislaus and Aniela Jasien Dzielski. She was married July 21, 1958, in South Carolina, to Wayne Walden, who died Aug. l, 1978.
She worked at Missouri School for the Deaf as a dietitian from 1970 until she retired in 1987. She worked for the Fulton School District in the cafeteria. She was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church.
Survivors include: one son, Wayne O. Walden, St. Louis; one daughter, Elizabeth Shallenberger, Fulton; one brother, Edward Dzielski, Eagan, Minn.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Peters Catholic Church in Fulton. Fr. Louis Guardiola will officiate. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton, with a rosary at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to St. Peters Catholic Church.
MATTAS
Richard D. Mattas, 78, Jamestown, died July 30, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.
