CLARKE

Charles T. Clarke, 72, Branson, formerly of  Jefferson City, died July 29, 2002, at his home.

He was born Sept. 21, 1929, in  Jefferson City, a son of Ernest W. and Anne Swim Clarke. He was married Nov. 16, 1951, in Centertown, to Elyda "Kitty" Hendrickson, who survives at the home.

He was a 1947 graduate of  Jefferson City High School and attended Kansas City Junior College. He owned and operated an insurance agency in Kansas City for 20 years. Later he worked as a salesman of industrial tools in Sherman, Texas , for 12 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the First Christian Church in  Jefferson City. He was a former member of the BPO of Elks in North Kansas City and a member of Moose Lodge of Ridgedale. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include: three sons, Steven Clarke, Platte City, Alan Clarke, Kansas City, and Michael Clarke, Blue Eye; four brothers, Thomas Clarke, Blue Eye, Oliver Clarke,  Jefferson City, Norman Clarke, Boonville, and Ronald Clarke, Elston; one sister, Ollie Francis, Blue Eye; one half-brother, L.H. Burnett, Blue Eye; one half- sister, Lynn Williams,  Jefferson City; and one grandson.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. Charles Cribbs will officiate. Burial will be in Centertown Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the Pines Community Christian Church in Blue Eye.

CADE

Richard Wayne Cade, 47, Fulton, died July 31, 2002, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics

He was born July 20, 1955, a son of Calvin and Virginia Hugert Cade, who survive in Crocker. He was married June 7, 1999, to Linda Perkins Horn, who survives at the home.

He graduated from Waynesville High School in 1973 and attended college for two years. He worked for the Missouri Department of Corrections at the  Jefferson City Corrections Center from 1976 until 1986, when he transferred to the Fulton Reception Diagnostic Center. He attained the rank of lieutenant.

Survivors include: one son, Daniel Cade, Olathe, Kan.; one stepdaughter, Julie Alexander, Fulton; two brothers, Calvin Nathan Cade Jr., St. Roberts, and Robert Cade, Holts Summit; and three step grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton. Mike Crowson will officiate. Entombment will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.

FLAUGHER

Georgia O. Flaugher, 84, Eldon, died July 31, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 4, 1917, in Miller County, a daughter of George and Geneva Clark Ahart. She was married June 13, 1939, in Tuscumbia, to Brice Flaugher, who died Dec. 31, 1990.

She worked as a seamstress at Glasier Brothers Pants Factory in Eldon, Humphreys Hospital in Tuscumbia and was co-owner of Brices Shell Station in Tuscumbia. She was a member of Mt. Zion Christian Church near Tuscumbia and attended Eldon Church of the Nazarene for the past 10 years.

Survivors include: one son, Larry Flaugher, Eldon; two daughters, Louise Basler, Macon, and Patsy Keyes, Hartsburg; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

One grandson preceded her in death.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon. The Rev. Gene Edwards will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Tuscumbia.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Zion Cemetery Association.

HOLTERMAN

The Rev. Herbert Holterman, 77, Linn, died July 31, 2002, at Green Meadows Skilled Care Center.

He was born May 17, 1925, in Loose Creek, a son of Herman and Eunice Nolte Holterman.

He went to Immaculate Conception School in Loose Creek and attended seminary in St. Meinrad before transferring to Kenrick Seminary in St. Louis, where he was ordained May 31, 1951. He was incardinated into the Springfield-Cape Girardeau diocese in 1956. He served as parish priest at various churches throughout the Springfield-Cape Girardeau diocese.

He is survived by one sister, Cleo Mary Hermes, Farmers Branch, Texas .

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Church in Loose Creek. The Most Rev. John J. Leibrecht will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the church, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Conception Church in Loose Creek.

Arrangements are under the direction of Morton Funeral Home in Linn.

OWENS

Mary Ruth Owens, 79, Brumley, died Aug. 1, 2002, at her home.

She was born Feb. 9, 1923, in Dawson, Okla., a daughter of Henry L. and Mary Aslee Huddleston Grosvenor. She was married June 11, 1943, in Lebanon, to James A. Owens Sr., who survives at the home.

She was a homemaker and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Kaiser.

Survivors include: one son, James A. Owens Jr., Pacific; two brothers, Delbert Grosvenor and Charles Wayne Grosvenor, both of Clarksburg; one sister, Beulah Webster, Brumley; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hedges Funeral Home in Osage Beach. The Rev. Vernon Arthur will officiate. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery in Kaiser.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.

POOLE

Cromer L. Poole Jr., 68, Lebanon, died July 31, 2002, at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born Sept. 17, 1933, in Salsbury, N.C., a son of Cromer L. Sr. and Fannie Mae Vickers Poole. His mother, Fannie Koonts, survives in Lexington, N.C. He was married July 23, 1955, in Lohman, to Edna Ann Raithel, who survives at the home.

He worked for Sprint Telephone Company in  Jefferson City and Lebanon as a construction supervisor. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lebanon.

Survivors include: one son, Jeff Poole, Camdenton; two daughters, Donna Scheidt, Russellville, and Barbara Poole, Denver; one brother, Jerry Poole, Lexington, N.C.; two sisters, Lynn Cassidy and Joycie Hughes, both of Lexington, N.C.; six grandchildren and one step grandson.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Russellville United Methodist Church. The Rev. David Norbury will officiate. Burial will be in Enloe Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. today at Holman Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon. Visitation will also be from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville.

Memorials are suggested to the  Jefferson City Daycare Center or Shriner's Children's Hospital.

Arrangements are under the direction of Holman Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon.

ROACH

Joseph L. Roach, 93,  Jefferson City, died Aug. 2, 2002, at  Jefferson City Manor Care.

He was born Feb. 11, 1909, in Linn Creek, a son of William I. and Jessie Creach Roach. He was married Aug. 31, 1941, in Eldon, to Lucille Brackett, who died March 17, 1987. He was married Sept. 2, 1989, in  Jefferson City, to Sharon Celeste Fisher Baughman, who survives at the home.

He worked for the Missouri Highway Department for 13 years; on the Panama Canal for eight months; and retired in 1971 as captain with the Missouri National Guard after 25 years of service.

An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he was a member of Memorial Baptist Church; Roy Sone Veterans of Foreign War Post 1003; Roscoe Enloe American Legion Post 5;  Jefferson Lodge 43, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons; Meadow Lake Acres Country Club; and was past chairman of the supervisory committee of the Missouri National Guard Credit Union.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Susan Ann Stevens,  Jefferson City; two stepdaughters, Sherrie L. Willis, Quincy, Ill., and Claudine C. Miller, Holts Summit; two stepsons, Bryan C. Baughman,  Jefferson City, and Sherman E. Baughman, Holts Summit; two sisters, Maxine Corrigan, Portland, Ore., and Louise Laurie, Kansas City; three grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one step great-grandson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be in Centertown Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, with a Masonic Rites at 5 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Memorial Baptist Church, 1120 Madison Street,  Jefferson City, Mo. 65101.

NICHOLS

Neta Mae Nichols, 86, Ashland, died Aug. 1, 2002, in Ashland.

She was born Dec. 24, 1915, in Boone County, a daughter of Jake and Ethel Sapp Griffin. She was married in 1934 in Ashland, to Philip Earl Winfrey, who preceded her in death. She was married in 1964 in California to Johnny Harold Nichols, who survives.

She was a lifelong resident of the Ashland area and a homemaker. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Ashland Senior Center.

Survivors include: one son, Harry Winfrey, Columbia; one daughter, Phyllis Buckman, Washington ; two sisters, Berlene Winfrey and Helen Sap, both of Ashland; one grandchild and four great-grandchildren.

One grandson preceded her in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Robinson Funeral Home in Ashland. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia.

Visitation will be from 9:30-10 a.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.

DAKE

Viola May Humphrey Dake, 66, Iberia, died Aug. 2, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born Nov. 2, 1935, in Maries County, a daughter of Lester and May Renfrow Humphrey. She was married April 15, 1958, at Faith Tabernacle Church in Dixon, to Myrel Dake, who survives at the home.

She was a 1955 graduate of Iberia High School. She worked at L.B. Manufacturing in Iberia and for Missouri Home Care since 1993. She was a member of Brays Advent Christian Church near Iberia, the Church Evening Circle Club and the Iberia Genealogy Club. She was a 23-year member of the Iberia American Legion Post #105 Ladies Auxiliary.

Other survivors include: two sons, Brad Dake, Roach, and Joe Dake, Ozark; three grandchildren, three step grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. The Rev. Gene Edwards and the Rev. Earl Skidds will officiate. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery near Iberia.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials are suggested to Brays Advent Christian Church or Union Cemetery.
