BENSON
Herbert "Dick" Benson, 74, Linn, died Aug. 9, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 6, 1927, in Chamois, a son of Harrison L. and Bess Wolfe Benson. He was married Nov. 30, 1948, in Hermann, to Margaret L. Perrey, who survives at the home.
He was a truck driver and a member of the Teamster's Local 682 in St. Louis.
Survivors include: three sons, Dale U. Benson and Donnie W. Benson, both of Linn, and Mike J. Benson, Washington ; two daughters, Ruth A. Withers, Holts Summit, and Sandy K. Monroe, Linn; three half-brothers, Buzz Callis, Centertown, Ray Callis, Waynesville, and Bob Duncan, Linn; eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Morton Funeral Home Home. The Rev. Tony Townley will officiate. Burial will be in Linn Public Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today.
KNIPKER
Gene Knipker, 51, California, died Aug. 9, 2002, at his home.
He was born July 22, 1951, in California, a son of Carl E. and Katherine Zimmerman Knipker. His parents survive in California. He was married Aug. 6, 1977, in California, to Valeri Lowe, who survives at the home.
He graduated from California High School in 1969 and received a bachelor's degree in agriculture with honors from University of Missouri-Columbia in 1973.
He was a farmer and worked for Proctor Lumber Company at the Truss Plant, 1983-1986 and was a soil technician for the Moniteau County Soil and Water Conservation District for 16 years, retiring in 2002. He was a member of the Oakland Baptist Church and a former member of California United Church of Christ and Moniteau Advent United Church of Christ. He taught Sunday school.
Survivors include: one son, Jesse Eugene Knipker, of the home; two daughters, Sarah Katherine Knipker and Rebekah Ann Knipker, both of the home; one brother Kenneth Knipker, California, and one sister, Dixie Taggart, California.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, California. The Rev. David Gouge and Rev. Chester Marshall will officiate. Burial will be in Strickfaden Cemetery, north of California.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church Family Life Center, California.
Memorials are suggested to the Trust Fund for the Gene Knipker Children and the hospice of the donor's choice.
ALLISON
Paul E. Allison, 71, Camdenton, died Aug. 11, 2002, at his home.
He was born Oct. 19, 1930, in Minneapolis, Kan., a son of Everett and Maud Barrett Allison. He was married Oct. 20, 1951, to Regina Teasley, who survives at the home.
He was an auto mechanic.
Survivors include: two sons, Steve Allison, Yellow Jacket, Colo., and Larry Allison, Costa Mesa, Calif.; one daughter, Debra Richardson, Camdenton; three sisters, Alfa Hamilton, Culver, Kan., Alma Heer, Overland Park, Kan., and Vesta Shannon, McPherson, Kansas; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
One son, James Allison, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at F.C. Hill Memorial Wesleyan Church, Miltonvale, Kan. Burial will be in Miltonvale Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. today at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton.
BLUME
Anthony J. "Tony" Blume, 79, Jefferson City, died Aug. 11, 2002, at his home.
He was born March 14, 1923, in Jefferson City, a son of Herbert E. and Katherine McMichael Blume. He was married June 29, 1946, in Jefferson City, to Pauline Hocker, who survives at the home.
A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, he was a 1941 graduate of St. Peter High School and attended Capitol Business College. He worked with the United States Post Office for 35 years until his retirement in 1978. From 1988-1998, he was the manager of the Central Bank Parking Facility. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter Church, where he was a Boy Scout leader. He was a member of VFW Roy Sone Post 1003, where he served as bugler for military funerals for many years. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: two sons, Kevin J. Blume, Defiance, and Tony P. Blume, Las Vegas; two daughters, Marilyn Blume Carroll, Des Moines, Iowa, and Janet Blume Renkoski, Levenworth, Kan.; one brother, Herbert F. Blume, Jefferson City; two sisters, Mary Blume McKinney, Jefferson City, and Gevvy Blume Benton, Chicago; eight granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter.
One daughter, Laura Blume Helmig, died Sept. 26, 1994.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of St. Peter Church. The Rev. James Smith will officiate. Graveside services and entombment with military honors will be in the mausoleum of Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Freeman Mortuary, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Hospice of Jefferson City and Mid-Missouri, or St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
GARDNER
Steven R. Gardner, 44, Jefferson City, died Aug. 11, 2002, at his home.
He was born Sept. 12, 1957, in Jefferson City, a son of Grover "Bud" and Pauline Lock Gardner. His mother survives in Jefferson City. He was married Jan. 26, 2001, in Jefferson City, to Marianne Megown, who survives at the home.
He attended Jefferson City High School. He worked as a construction laborer foreman with Kidwell Construction Company. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was a member of Laborers Union Local 662 for 22 years. He was a Marine Corps veteran.
Survivors include one daughter, Abby Rae Gardner, Taos, one brother, Roger Gardner, Linn, and one sister, Nancy Rackers, Joplin.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Patrick G. Dolan will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Steven R. Gardner Trust-Educational Fund.
GOEDDE
Sarah Catherine Goedde, 88, Jefferson City, died Aug. 10, 2002, at Jefferson City Manor Care.
She was born March 30, 1914, in Jefferson City, a daughter of Herman and Mathilda Schwaller Goedde.
She was a 1931 graduate of St. Peter High School. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Ann's Sodality and Daughters of Isabella. She served as organist at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and St. Peter Catholic Church for many years. She was a member of St. Marys Health Center Auxiliary and a 55-year member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
Survivors include one brother, Herman Goedde, St. Louis.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Patrick G. Dolan will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

SMITH
Alice M. Smith, 90, Pleasanton, Calif., formerly of Gravois Mills, died Aug. 8, 2002, at Hacienda Care Center, Livermore, Calif.
She was born Jan. 30, 1912, in Dalton, Ga., a daughter of Elmer J. and Elva Jane Corkill Rouse. She was married Oct. 29, 1932, in St. Joseph, to Clarence A. Smith, who died Oct. 21, 1983.
She worked as a sales clerk at Bakers Department Store in Stanberry. She was a homemaker and a member of Gravois Mills United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: two daughters, Shirley A. Cotten, Pleasanton, Calif., and Donna C. Foureman, Cincinnati; one brother, Harold W. Rouse, Temacula, Calif.; three sisters, Evelyn Summa Wolfchief and Pauline Oyler, both of Versailles, and Ellen Barnes, Mabelton, Ga.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Sidney Robbins will officiate. Burial will be in Garber Memorial Estates Cemetery, Laurie.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

WINGRATH
Lois A. Wingrath, 76, Jefferson City, died Aug. 10, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born July 24, 1926, in Nickerson, Kan., a daughter of Herman and Alice Malone Boy. She was married July 17, 1946, in Linn, to John M. Wingrath, who survives at the home.
She graduated from Newton High School in Newton, Kan., and from Mt. San Antonio College School of Nursing in Walnut, Calif.
She worked as a nurse at Charles E. Still Hospital and Villa Marie Skilled Care Center. She worked previously in the Long Beach, Calif. area. She was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral.
Survivors include: three sons, John R. Wingrath, Henley, Ben Wingrath, Calif., and Royce Wingrath, New Bloomfield; three daughters, Yvonne Barber, Jefferson City, Debbie Stockman, Wardsville, and Colleen Binkley, Holts Summit; two brothers, Robert Boy, Lake Isabella, Calif., and Milton Boy, Cypress, Calif.; one sister, Delores Harris, Long Beach, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Cathedral. The Rev. Fred Elskamp will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

RUSSELL
Pauline Theresa Russell, 84, Roosevelt, Ariz, who died July 16, 2002, was a daughter of Edward and Anna Schaefer Bax.
SUNDERMEYER
Elizabeth Sundermeyer, 79, New Bloomfield, died Aug. 12, 2002, at Green Meadow Nursing Center, Linn.
